MKAC, SD - I am a bit torn about that thread. I totally understand where you're coming from, MKAC. At the same time, I remember being in a similar situation, and I wasn't able/willing to take in what some people were saying because of how it was delivered. I remember T saying something really mean to me at the end of a session once...really mean. I confronted him about it during my next session, and he said he wanted to shock me because he felt that I was in a dangerous situation and wanted me to see that. So, I get that the intensity can sometimes be a strategy, all for the good of safety. However, I told him it wasn't helpful, because ultimately it affected OUR relationship. My T usually encourages me to stick to my experience of something/someone and how I feel. It's difficult, though, when such strong emotions are elicited.

I think I'm going to cancel my T session on Tuesday. We have 2 sessions scheduled this week because he will be away for 3 weeks. After my last session, it seemed kinda clear to me that T doesn't really want to work with me - and he deliberately told me that he was steering clear on trauma work until he returns from his vacation - so there's really no sense in me seeing him twice this week if we're not really going to do any real work. My insurance cap is going to be reached very soon for the year, so all future sessions will be out of pocket which I can't really afford but always go anyway because I'm in denial about my sinking financial situation. For all of those reasons, it just makes sense to cancel one of these sessions. Maybe his time away will help me accept the fact that therapy just isn't right for me.

Anyhoo....I got a call from the agency saying they may need me in the wee hours of the morning, so I'm going to try to get to bed.

BF's grandma passed away so I was away for the funeral, garbage at work, and been out of town and away from the internet for good portions of the last two weeks.
