Or is it just me. Therapy tomorrow. Today - head hurts, throat hurts, face feels hot, feels like I'm coming down with a cold. I'd be worred, except the exact same thing happened last week - I honestly thought I was getting a cold, but was fine after therapy on Wed.

Anything I can do? It's making it hard to focus on actual work-stuff. I want to curl up in bed and sleep!

Yes I often feel sick before sessions because of anxiety.
Thanks for this!

Thanks Lunatic Soul... is there anything that helps? I believe it could be anxiety, but I'm not feeling that clearly - I am honestly feeling just like I would if I were coming down with a cold. It's confusing, and things like cough drops aren't working.

I think something like cheesecake would help me feel quite a bit better actually, but... I'm trying to be limit sugar to one day a week, and if I have it today, I'll slip and eat sugar the whole rest of the week. Probably better for me to exert a little bit of will power...

I find it helps to distract myself. I had therapy today after a break and as I wasn't at work the dog got 2 long walks, I sorted out a prescription and watched some trashy tv. Anything to put my mind off it. Now after I just feel exhausted so always have an instant meal and then bed by 8 to watch something rubbish. I hope you find a way to deal with it. It sounds like your body wants you to look after it so maybe if you do have time curling up and napping wouldn't be such a bad idea.
Thanks for this!

Oh I feel for you. My other half gets so excited because when I get nervous I can just about stomach pizza and that's it. So therapy night is pizza night!!

It might get easier with time or to focus on the key points you want to say and practice some deep breathing.
Thanks for this!

I can totally relate to this - I'm all or nothing when it comes to food.

I often feel nauseous and headachey for a day or so before a session (and sometimes after for a couple of days) and its totally anxiety based. All I want to do is lie quietly in an empty room in peace (which doesn't happen too often as I have young children!)

Sometimes fresh air and a distraction helps too, even though I usually don't feel like going anywhere, once I'm out there it can lessen the symptoms.
Thanks for this!

Thanks... I want to go lie down, but I'm supposed to be working (working from home). It probably doesn't help that I can't actually figure out what they want me to do for any of the zillion projects I'm "working" on. The job kind of sucks right now.

Maybe I'll try picking up a bit. The office is definitely in need of some attention...

Just wish my head would feel normal!

Sometimes I feel like I will puke and it's horrible if I'm in a bus, I'm trying to breath deeply and think about any other things, listening to the music or calling/texting my friends just to forget it. Sometimes I take Xanax or alcohol but it doesn't help me and makes me feel like the world is unreal (it helps with any other anxiety but doesn't help with feeling sick).
I had fever just sometimes when I was desperate after session but I never had it before sessions, I ussually have higher body temperature when I'm anxious or excited or stressful etc.

I think that feeling sick is reaction of anxiety and every people has different symptoms. Tell your T about it, maybe he/she can suggest you soemthing
Thanks for this!

When I get fatigued, I feel like I'm catching a cold. But before therapy, I often feel very nauseous due to anxiety. It doesn't help that right now some of the memories we have been working with in therapy are so gross that I come close to throwing up anyway. The wastebasket in my therapist's office has become one of my best friends. (Rolling my eyes) After therapy, I often need a long nap or a dose of Vitamin X (Xanax).

Oh, yeah. I forgot this. Lots of times after therapy, I don't really want to eat for the rest of the day. However, today all I could think as I left therapy was should I stop at Dunkin Donuts for one of those Coffee and Cream donuts or should I stop at Dairy Queen for a Buster Bar. The donut won out because I came to the Dunkin Donuts before the Dairy Queen.

I sometimes feel so bad that I'll be sick as i get out the car. These are the days I don't park in the carpark. I have also found that singing out loud on the way also helps with the anxiety and hyperventilating, as you need to control your breathing while singing.

I used to throw up before every appointment. Now I don't do it every time - just before some of them.

Thanks everyone... and so sorry to everyone else that gets sick too.

I took the advice here and did lots of distraction... music, cleaning, tried to work, watched some tv, cooked (omg I've been busy!). I had my piano lesson tonight, and my teacher knows I'm in therapy - so I was able to talk with him about the stress and being sick a bit, and he always manages to make me feel a little better.

I will bring it up again tomorrow with my T, I'm just not sure there's much he can do. It seems that even after we slowed things down a bit, my body just reacts to therapy as a *huge threat*. Yikes.

This is really interesting that singing helps you... I've been (inadvertently) singing more (I'm rewatching the "Smash" DVDs - and listening to the music from the show, lots of fun things to sing with). I really like singing... and it might be helping a little. I think being loud helps - maybe it's working off the anxiety chemicals?!

I often feel sick before therapy. Tummy sick. I do not eat ANYTHING at all the day of my sessions, until well after the session is over. Yesterday I had my first session in 3 weeks, and I got a horrible headache while I was there.
Thanks for this!

Yes, I often feel sick before my appointments. I spend all morning a bundle of nerves, then the rest of the day exhausted and drained.
Thanks for this!

Yes, and I also think it's anxiety. Now before I have a session I will go on youtube and find some calming meditation music to listen to. Play something relaxing and lie down somewhere and visualize something calming and nice while trying to take deep breaths. Sometimes before sessions I'll meditate, listen to chanting, etc... just any relaxation thing I can think of. I'll also take Xanax, LOL.
Thanks for this!

Mine is in about 3 hours. Didn't sleep so well last night, of course... bleh. I need to get my notes together, somehow, I haven't quite figured out everything I need to talk about.

Ugh... kinda hate therapy I'm still not convinced that this therapist will be able to be helpful.... It feels expensive and painful to possibly just end up right back in the same place. Oh well... onward!
