I use the kindle app on my tablet. I love the ability to download a book in seconds but there is still something about holding an actual book in your hands that I prefer.
Thanks for this!

I use the kindle app on my ipad most of the time. It is immediate gratification in the middle of the night to download a book. And there are so many free books too. Sometimes I do still like a real book though.

I love my kindle app. Never be without a book. There's something awfully comforting about a real book though. I like to have paper copies of my favorite ones.

Never could get used to audiobooks. I hate it when I get distracted and miss bits

You know, I never really realized that I get angry. I have my coworkers teasing me about my Irish temper tonight...

My partner likes her kindle better than the ipad.
I usually listen to light stuff because it does not matter if I miss bits. And it makes me slow down more for the dogs. When I listen to music I tend to go faster and my 10 yr old is slowing down some.

I have been told I have one of those too. Do you have red hair to go along with it?

Hi Ready...I can't concentrate either and I used to read nonstop. My Ts and pdoc think it's mostly due to anxiety. I have been trying to read psychology books previously, but I keep having to reread passages over and over, so one of my Ts said I should try something lighter. I just got a few fiction books to try (hopefully one will work...I feel pretty desperate). I hope you can find something to read that works for you!

Nah. My hair is dark. I guess I'm in stealth mode.

I have the same problem. I used to love fiction too. I can read technical stuff and textbooks but I can only read a small amount of good fiction at a time now. I've taken to reading stuff aimed at kids and young adults lately. That's easier.

Sigh...I wish I could read a textbook!
I am trying to read "Thirteen Reasons Why" (I believe that is Young Adult)...but the text switches between his thoughts and the tapes he is listening to, argh. Where is a copy of "Ramona Quimby, Age 8" when I need it?

Harriet the Spy was excellent...I forgot about all the awesome stuff that I read when I was younger.
Maybe I will try and reread something I have already read...thanks for the idea.

So I just had to bathe my oldest cat, sigh...it's a weekly thing, for health reasons. He actually likes the bath itself as long as the water is really warm. (I get dirty looks if it starts to cool off.) He can't stand being wet afterwards, though, so he pouts until he dries, awkwardly trying to snuggle with my other cat, assuming she will be sympathetic...she is not having any of that crap.

I have another ereader. A Kindle would be too limited for me.

I read maybe 25% on the ereader and 75% paper books. I do not buy fewer paper books because I also have an ereader, but I do buy fewer books in general because I am older and more picky.

I don't think I would have much skin left if tried to bathe my cat

Horrible T appointment this morning.
Now I've just given a lecture which would have been more inspired if I'd not still been shell shocked after T.
And in an hour I have to teach again, for four hours straight. At least that will occupy my mind. And I do have lovely students.

Somebody named Quimby got married in the nytimes this weekend. I was so jealous!!

I read an article recently that said a lot of adults are reading YA. I went thru a phase of reading Sweet Valley some years ago. Collections of short stories or murder mysteries are good, but i tend to prefer the classics. Some new things are just written too awkwardly for me. They dont sound right.

I reread the bobbsey twins (some of the really old ones - I have a few of my mother's still- not the new improved version) and laughed and laughed. They are awful in any number of ways. But I really liked them when I was 6.
