Yeah, I understand. Sometimes the comparison is fine, sometimes it's not. A few years ago my son had to be sedated for some dental work and I was pretty upset about the circumstances. I had someone who should really have known better tell me about how their chihuahua had to have most of its teeth out too. I was right pissed.

I am really irritable this morning. Was told by Acute Care team to add another zyprexa to my night time pills to help me to sleep. It didn't help much.
I tried to respond to SD, JS and MKAC posts but I have nearly punched the laptop even though it is not it's fault,
Also we lost another mouse. I was cleaning out their cage and one jumped out of my hand and ran away. This morning I bought the dog in as hhe is an awesome mouse/rat catcher. Normally all you have to is say where are the mice and he's quivering at the shed door. I just wanted him locate the mouse we can catch it. So I let him in and told t get the mouse. He ran in and went straight to D room and sat near the cage. I took him out to the lounge room and closed the door. I then asked him to the find the mouse, he sat down looked up at me and then at the bedroom door and proceeded to lick he's nether region.

On a good note my eldest D was selected and accepted for the advanced maths class. You can only get in by being selected by a teacher then you do a test.
Thanks for this!

I don't know if I would have been pissed too if I was telling about my dog having a terrible dental procedure and someone started telling me about their kid's dental challenges. Possibly of course.
I might have done the same thing as the person did - it would have been an attempt to relate and I probably, without more, would not understand what had pissed the person off.
Ah well - the farmer and the cowman should be friends. One man likes to push a plow; the other likes to chase a cow - that ain't no reason why they can't friends.

That sounds good.

And my dogs are notoriously unreliable when there are nether regions to be licked.

My husband is basically trying to convince me to cut my losses and quit my job because with they way I talked to my boss the other day I should be fired. Talk about supportive. I am going to work tomorrow because I can't stand the though of leaving my students half way through the school year. I will figure something out regarding my boss. I wish I just would have kept my damn mouth shut.

This was an ongoing dispute on The Rifleman - the ranchers always used to call Chuck Connors a - fudpucker - no a clodbuster? - something like that.

Im so excited, something in my wheelhouse! Kind of.

Sodbuster. Cowboys hated them because they used barbed wire and limited their grazing.

There's a difference between planting crops and herding cattle.

I know the differences but was that before centralisation of services and the amalgamation farmers and cowmen,?

Depends on the part of the world you're in. If it rains a lot it's easy to keep cattle in fields because you don't have to worry about water. Not so much in arid parts of the US and Australia - there's still big cattle ranches.

Sodbusters and cattle ranchers? This is what I love about the couch, when I come here I never know what I'm gonna find!

This early shift is really messing with my morning couch time. Meh. Off to work with me, hope everyone has a good day.

My reference about farmers and cowman was from Oklahoma - it is one of the songs.

Talk about something you do know about - I never understand the crafty stuff or children talk- but it is something a lot of people have in common.
I know little to nothing about farms or ranches - but I do love my Rodgers and Hammerstein.

(The hating monty python thing is a bit of a mystery - perhaps if you watched them all again with some popcorn it would help)

We could talk about kittens, Granite. Or craft stuff. Or the cool cards you make. You do lots of cool stuff we love to talk about, so just start us off in a new direction! How is your kitten doing?

I got lots done last night. I went and bought new mattresses for D and H & I. I found a present for D and for my MIL. H helped me pull out the old mattresses (he did more than me actually because of the wrist thing I have going on). I cleaned under the beds, and H put the new mattresses on. I fixed a really nice dinner for D because she has been sick again, while H took out an old big screen TV that doesn't work, cleaned where it was, and moved my exercise bike to that spot. Now I have two mattresses and an TV in the bed of my truck, and I need to find time to go to the local dump, but my house looks much better.

One of the kittens we bottle fed, was right on the verge of death when we found him. He was so weak, he could not sit up or swallow and I had to stroke his throat to get him to swallow formula. Today I realized he has never meowed out loud. I noticed he was quiet, but didn't realize until today that it's like he doesn't really have a voice. He mouths a 'meow' but no sound comes out. I am wondering if I somehow damaged his vocal cords when I was getting him to swallow.

I have had cats who just squeaked or did not make much of a mew at all. I would think they are not that delicate in general. If the kitten is eating, drinking and growing without seeming to have his throat bother him, I would not worry about it. I think they are hardier for the most part than humans sometimes think.

Thanks, Stop. I am not entirely sure why I was so worried about it this morning. He was so close to death when we found him, it was not as if I had other options besides doing what I did. The vet said it was a matter of half an hour or so until he was too far gone to save, so I couldn't have gotten him somewhere for someone else to save him. I adore this kitten (kind of crazy amounts) and the thought I damaged him somehow was upsetting. He doesn't seem to be in any pain and looks incredibly sleek and lovely, and clearly has no grudge against me because he spends most nights sleeping pressed up against my chest with his head tucked under my neck or against my face. Guess I was lacking in things to beat myself up about this morning.

Some years ago I adopted a "senior" cat from the Humane Society. He didn't vocalize the meow, either. He would mouth it, but no sound would come out. I always wondered if he had always silently meowed or if it was due to his age or health.

I miss him so much. He was the sweetest, lovey-dovey-ist being I've ever come across — and I've known some real sweethearts!
