I grew up in New England and we never had to make up snowdays. They always planned for 6-7 and we never exceeded that (admittedly maybe we should have a few times). But then I went to Catholic school and they may not have had to close whenever the district did - it was up to the pastor.
In fact I think there was a year when school ended a few days early because it had been a light winter and we hadn't used all the snow days up. |

That explains our affinity - catholic school education. They must have had a national school board or stg.

Snow day, that's the word! Thanks, guys.
![]() Maybe we'll have to take the test we missed today and might miss tomorrow (it's test week) on Friday, if the weather is better by then - else we would have Friday off. But around here missing a day of lessons usually just means you have to work harder in your remaining lessons - nothing about making them up in your vacation! |

I woke up and there was a new couch!

My mother's housekeeper has decided to fatten me up and baked all three of my favorite cakes.
And I'm not hungry. ![]() |

Actually ive heard them called "inclement weather" days and such - we're so politically correct around here, we dont want freezing rain to feel bad that we just call it snow

We had one for a hurricane once - but no one called it a hurricane day. Epic fail.

Oh we did. I grew up in South Texas on the coast, and I remember having several hurricane days over the years.

Hmm. This could be interesting. My husband was employee of the month earlier this year. The way the hotel does it is that the 12 employees of the month are then candidates for employee of the year. Employee of the year gets a one-week stay at any Four Seasons in the U.S. along with travel expenses and spending money. My husband won this about 15 years ago or so, and we went to Boston and had a marvelous time.
Well, the employee of the year banquet is next Monday, and Scott wasn't really planning on attending as he thought it was in the evening and getting there isn't easy for him, etc. Pretty much every department manager, the general manager, the human resources manager, etc. has asked him today if he is attending the banquet. He said he wasn't because he couldn't get there. Interestingly enough, suddenly the banquet has become an employee celebration luncheon so that he will already be at the hotel and can attend. Hmm. I could go for a vacation. I'm thinking Vail sounds relaxing. They better not be setting him up for nothing. ![]() |

I have a decent sized credit on my account with the clinic I see my T at. I waited until the new year because I needed to see what my insurance was going to require and lo and behold, the credit on my account wouldn't really get used.
So I called them to ask for a refund. You know what annoys me? People who don't answer the question you ask. I said, "I want to get a refund started." I told no, I did not have any out of pocket required this year (long story). She kept talking about a deductible and how people would ask and obviously *I* had told her but blah blah blah (I stopped listening honestly) and was like, "Listen to me. This is *my* money. The clinic doesn't get to decide how I use my money. You owe me. It's really none of their business if I have a deductible because I am in good standing and have been for the last six years." She's like, "Well I can get it started it's just going to take time." And I was like, "That's all I needed. BYE." I was firm but polite. I was probably more forceful than necessary but the billing department of this clinic has demonstrated a less than competence. Even my T has talked about having to go down there and ask them what the hell they were doing to my account.

My T truly is phobic of snakes. He couldn't even look at pictures of them until about 10 years ago. He has some great stories about his snake encounters. He believes his phobia started with a chance encounter with an alligator on the river when he was little and manifested itself with snakes. |
