Hah that was my fourth grade friend's favorite word. He snuck it into every sentence! I haven't heard it since.

Our friendship was solely based on us being the two shortest kids in the class. Gotta stick together.

I can still hear him explaining it to the people not in the know, always the same way:

"Anatidaephobia.... the fear that somewhere.... somehow.... a DUCK is watching you!!!!" (Cue a chorus of fourth graders gasping)

Wow...I laid down after my last post and ended up falling asleep until now. Odd. Oh well, guess I needed the sleep.

Landlady is back, I can hear her talking to grandson in the living room. Rent is due on Saturday (the first), I am writing a check this time as we decided after the little rent fiasco...this way I can PROVE I paid by it clearing my bank. Then if it doesn't clear my bank and she says I didn't pay, I will know something happened to the check and call my bank to put a stop payment on it and write a new one for landlady. Yay, for her agreeing to checks from now on.

I just want to rant for a sec about how much I despise the term "startup company." It's complete crap. Most of these companies that call themselves startups are 5-10yrs old. You aren't a startup. You're a sh***y company making excuses for your nonexistant budgetting, rampant sexism and "bro culture," bad planning, and total lack of protection for your employees because you're "just a platform" or something.

I'm so sick of my sometimes-boss asking me to do free admin work for his recording company. "But we're a startup! And we're bringing so many jobs to the region!" He's literally been on vacation for a year with not a single recording done.

Lol, yep... short people have to stick together. I was always the shortest kid in the class too growing up (at least in elementary school... I don't remember about middle or high school... too many classes then and too many kids).

I am the shortest person at my CVS job, which means I am really short as over half of us cannot reach the top shelves without a stool to get bottles of pills to fill people's scripts. Lol. We all joke that pharm manager has a policy that you have to be under 5'4" to work there. Though we do have a couple tall techs.

One time I was a barista at a cafe where 5 out of the 7 front of house staff were 5'0 or less. We owed the wonderful kitchen people a lot of favors!

I would have fit in well as I am only 5 foot fully grown.

I fear the senior days when I start "shrinking" from getting old.

Resident dog just arfed to come in an visit...he is now on my bed licking my pillow. Weird dog. It's kind of cute though.

I went out to get a drink from the garage fridge and landlady's car is gone...which normally means that I could take all the empty cans out to the recycling bin...but grandson is in the living room watching TV... I want him to "go home".

Squirrel - is there a window in your room you could put things through to the outside, then "go for a walk" and put stuff in the bin then? Or maybe take out one bag or half-dozen cans or some such?
Thanks for this!

Never thought of the window...that could work if I decided to just throw them in the trash rather than recycle. My window goes to the backyard where we keep the trash bin...the recycling bin is in the garage. Maybe I will say "screw the environment" and not recycle. Lol.

T asked me when I stopped growing. I think I looked at her like she had reindeer antlers. Like, seriously...? I cannot remember 98% of the past 30 years of my life and you want me to know when I stopped growing? I'm so confused. I don't know if I was a "slow, medium, or fast" grower.... Sometimes she asks the oddest questions...

I really should cook more rather than eat out, but it takes so much effort. Lol. At least during the summer I have time, so maybe I could for the time being. Once school starts though and I go directly from school job to CVS, there is no way I could. Unless I made like 5 meals on Sunday for all week...not sure if the food would stay good that long though.

I spend one weekend cooking to make up a month+ worth of food at a time and freeze them (my own frozen meal system). I do that with like 5/6 different meals and then I will supplement those with left overs from the weekend. This usually works out to having 6-8 weeks worth of meals.

It is easy to cook up things on the weekend and have it last through the week. There are certain foods that reheat better than others, but most food will stay good for at least 5 days.

That is weird, about the word. I mean, what are the odds??

Also last night i dreamt about the two shortest kids in my class in grade school, timmy and jimmy. Or maybe tommy and jimmy.

I am glad the appointment went okay, and kudos to you for going!! I hate the dentist so so much; and am behind on my checkup by over a year. I know I have at least 2 cavities, and need to go...but...ugghhhh.

Maybe starting after the holiday, I will make a vow to cook more rather than grab fast food or sit in a restaurant...we'll see of it works. Well...maybe the vow could start on the 2 weeks I am off from CVS and I will be bored out of my mind. The week of the holiday I will be watching C in the mornings and then going to CVS, so no time.
