Paddle tennis is played on a smaller court with a solid racquet. Ball is less bouncy.

I think it is annoying and pretentious. Like court tennis. Ask her if she ever runs into Henry VIII after a match.
Thanks for this!

Like racquetball? Or is that something else entirely?

No, racquetball has a stringed racquet and a smaller hollow ball, plus it's played off a wall so it's very fast. Paddle tennis is sloooow.

Eta: I have no ads on my PsychCentral.

Ah, I just looked it up. Strange. So sorta like regular tennis, but played with ping pong paddles.

I meant Psych Central for PC, not personal computer, sorry. I am on my iPad and still see no ads. I don't think I have an ad blocker on here.

OH Ok.
Sometimes the ads seem to be directly related to thimngs people post. At first i thought it was coincidence but it happens regularly. The bot must scan the pages for frequently used words. I don't just mean therapy related things.

So somehow I have escaped getting ads for every weird flavor of junk food that comes out?

I must have an ad blocker on here.
Thanks for this!

I have been looking at stuff on Houzz, so I have ads for that site often, but only if I am not logged in.

I wish I had a ping pong table. I love the sound of smacking the ball against the table.

I've never overeaten ice cream to calm down. I have had it to numb feelings or eat emotions, tho.

I spent a lot of time perfecting my passive-aggressiveness...uhh....serve, so that I landed the ball on the edge of the table in a rather fast, hard way and the other person could mostly only get out the way, forget about returning it.

Crying women are your kryptonite?

And why is she crying over paddle tennis anyway? Did you trash talk her? Hit her with the ball via an overhead smash? (I've done that.)

Really, AY, these therapists are delicate flowers. Be a little sensitive, can't you?

T2 is an accomplished athlete (like, national titles and stuff--it's right in his CV), so no way I could ever compete against him in anything athletic, even paddle tennis. One of his specialties is also sports psychology. At the end of our first session this week, while he was preparing my invoice, I said, "So I know you do sports psychology. I'm, like, the opposite of an athlete." He responded, "I've been doing this for a long time. I get bored, so it's good to have some variety." Which both amused me and made me feel better.

Funny thing about t and me. I go in there thinking I have nothing to talk about, but as soon as my butt hits the couch, I'm already talking. We ran over by a good 10 minutes this evening and never even got to the sand tray...

...and I had put my HSA card on the table between us while she was still talking with her eyes closed (she does that a lot, we both do), and then she stopped, and I was waiting for her to do the payment, but she still had her eyes closed thinking, and then she opened them and said "Oh, I guess I should get paid." I said "well, if you really don't want to, I'm ok with that..." and laughed.

She told me today that I really look like myself, just like 2 weeks ago. And when she asked me if we were scheduled for October I said no and she said do you want to schedule? I almost said "Are you new?!" But I opted to say instead "Of course" and so we're scheduled for 2 sessions in October.

Not sure yet what November is going to look like... I'm starting to lean towards not calling it terminating but instead call it taking a lengthy break. Because if I'm completely honest with myself? Even if we quote "terminated" as planned she'd still say her door was open if I wanted to come back and I know me - I would. I'm ready to try life 'on my own' for awhile though, finish up my class that ends in December, get through our busiest period at work that is January, and then get myself firmly ensconced in a new class for the 2nd semester and keep on learning and see how life goes without her for awhile...

Sorry to be yammering on about that whole subject again, couchies. I am off work tomorrow, so I can take h and his friend to the airport and attend to some stuff that needs done, so I'll have some time to get caught up with the couch. I'm woefully behind because of overtime and school!! Maybe I'll catch up some tonight....

Crying women are totally my kryptonite. Crying men are not yours?

Did the overhead smashed (smashee?) survive?

I am not so happy with my haircut this time. It is the same cut but a different girl and she was so annoying, talking and her laugh seemed forced. I go to a hairdressing school because they have to practise on someone right and it's cheap. I think it was the girls personality that has put me off.

Just found this. The first 5 minutes are relevant to my childhood and my expression of emotions esp anxiety expressed as anger etc. I think I will show this to my T on Monday. Even though I am not male it still feels true. Sorry for people who dont click on random links its Robert Webb the actor talking about his childhood and autobiography
