I don’t think I have ever had a therapist do something that weird and oblivious in session.

Now I hope Info is especially kooky on Friday.

She also scratches her armpits.

And, uhh...chest....at times.

I too hope that Info is especially kooky. When it comes to all-round kookiness, my money's firmly on Info.

The iron was always my favourite piece! I just like the way it feels in my hand? Then they replaced it with a cat and I didn't know what to feel.

We used to play it so that all the money went in free parking sometimes, like, all the money people paid for properties as well as taxes and stuff. That was ridiculous.

Monopoly is the most god awful boring game on the planet. Just mind numbing. We had one but never played past about 30 minutes or so before my whole family wandered off.

He dumps the body in the trunk of his roadster and drives it out to a country cemetery.

There he uses the wheelbarrow to take the body to the newly-dug grave.

In so doing he disturbs a cat, who runs away and is barked at by a Scottie dog.

Things get hot and the police are on his tail. He uses the thimble as he sews some spare cash into the lining of his hat.

Then he flees the country by stowing away on a ship.

Not many people know that Monopoly and its pieces are its inventor’s confession to murder.

But it’s there if you know where to look.

So, what you're basically saying, is that this is the real solution to the game Clue?

Exactly—Mr. Monopoly, in broad daylight on Broadway, with the iron.

Monopoly was originally intended as a cautionary tale about monopolies, oddly enough...but the guy who got rich off it stole it from its original creator.

They make all different kinds of Monopolys. They should make a therapist Monopoly. With spaces like send a client to the psych ward lose a turn.

Somehow I've never played it either. Maybe because I'm an only child? The family played chinese checkers a lot though.

We always played the "house rules" version with taxes and stuff like that going into the middle, then winning it if you landed on Free Parking. Made it more exciting. And I always liked the iron, too, Luco! (Even though I hate actual ironing...) My favorite properties were always the really cheap purple ones...Baltic and...uh, something?

My friend - not a "friend", but a real friend texted me something very painful.
It's not her fault... I'm just too sensitive. But anyway I'm crying right now.

Sorry for venting, feel free to ignore this post.

Okay...the red properties (I always liked them) will be Attachment Alley, Transference Terrace, and Rupture Road.

Less funnily,

ATAT - I doubt your course had anything to do with it. First - I don't believe that any one thing can and two there are a lot of options if a student is overwhelmed by a course - and the choice they make about it is not the fault of the prof.

Every semester I have a couple of students who come to me with some sort of rather severe emotional/mental health issue. For some, an easy answer is to simply drop my course/other courses to lower stress. Sometimes they need to take a semester off to deal with themselves/outside of school things. Sometimes, they simply need to pick a new career path.
But none of it, not even for those who find my courses challenging or me scary, really is about me at all.

So sorry to hear, ATAT. I hope your student is getting the support they need, and I hope you can double down on self care where you can.

I hated playing games in my house because I was 4 years younger than my brother my mother got tired of teaching the rules and my mother had to win every time and did a little triumphant dance. We had monopoly which I hated scrabble which I loved as I loved unscrambling words, snakes and ladders which my mother would cheat at and a game called Squatter where you were the owner of a sheep station and you had to get a many of the tiny little sheep head tokens as you could.
