I have a good friend who, on the face of it, has it all--rare success in a creative field where only 1% earn a living at it, husband since high school, kids, grands, two homes, travel, huge awards...it goes on. I am fascinated by how squeaky clean she is, how her strongest foul word is darn. And yet, she has also had a lot of struggles with her health and family, so I don't actually think she has a perfect life but I am drawn to the perfectness of it. It gives me a strange comfort in a way. I couldn't have someone like that as a therapist, but for me there is comfort in that kind of life when viewed from the outside.
Yeah, that totally makes sense. And, I couldn't agree more about the comfort thing -- it makes me feel that somehow all is right with the world (even if my life feels unmanageable) to watch it from the outside and know that there are people like that around.

I am actually not sure though if current T has a perfect life instead of just believing that others think that she does -- my Google stalking told me that her sister's a therapist as well. I am a big fan of Alice Miller (and apparently so is she, going by her telling me that she's read her multiple times) and if I were to go by that, there's clearly some stuff (resolved or not) there that would have lead to two children choosing to become therapists.

Also, I guess, maybe this is my defense or me living in my own head or having way too much crap of my own or some version of all of it but I find it almost impossible to see her as a peer or even anyone to sort of compare my life against?

For one, my life seems incredibly different from hers -- it's like we wouldn't even have considered being acquaintances if we'd run into each other outside of therapy.

But, I will say -- as she seems to be rather fully aware -- that the most obvious + intense feelings I have about her are some sort of a desperate-need-for-a-maternal-figure-ish type thing (which I have with pretty much with most women older to me and some men too).

So, it's kinda like I can't even imagine her life in any way except so completely removed from mine and only relevant insofar as she is available (or not) to me emotionally (and otherwise)?

I mentioned YogaGlo if that’s it? You can stream it or access it online.

As for Info...I don’t know. That was probably in the top five worst therapy sessions I’ve ever had, in company with the last session with DBC, CW’s I-can’t-trust-you-because-you-make-complaints session, and No. 3’s leave-suicidal session.

It was mostly because I wanted to get emotions about 3 out, and Info wanted to turn it into a teaching moment and a whole lecture about how therapists are human. Of course they are, duh (why do therapists and their advocates think this is some big reveal?), but that isn’t a good excuse to proffer when you’ve just made a major mistake (and all of 3’s were major).

I went back to the grocery store after and got Hot Cocoa Oreos, but I am so down I don’t want to eat anything.

Email her now saying exactly how badly she's screwed up. I wouldn't hold anything back (including a fine analysis of the timing -- and not just crazy content -- of her so-called teaching moment).

And, then re-consider the Hot Cocoa Oreos?

Do note that in trying out those Oreos, you will be performing yeoman service for the Couch as a whole as resident all-things-weird food reviewer.

We are waiting with a great deal of anticipation for your report.

Thanks for this!

Huh, they’re pretty good...actually taste like cocoa (not hot of course). Cocoa and marshmallow creme. Chocolate wafers. Even SD might approve of them.

As for Info, she asked me not to leave when I was getting ready to run out, so I told her what she did wrong and why it was wrong. She apologized. I might bring it up Thursday if I go (don’t feel like it right now).

Please note that from now on Info-isms will be preserved in my signature file.

So wait--when I was going to court 12 years ago for my DWI, I could have maybe brought my guinea pig?

Has that one ever met a cat?
Not to mention courthouses are not open to pets and it is extremely difficult to pass cats off as seeing eye animals.

It is not the first time Info has made asinine suggestions about cats (such as, bring them to session with you).

And, yes, LT, you should have brought that guinea pig with you. Possibly dressed in a suit, and introduced as your lawyer?

I did just send Info an email reiterating what I said in session and what went wrong. I suppose her heart’s in the right place, though I’m often not sure what’s inside her head.

Just returned home from grocery shopping with h. I found the mystery flavor oreos, but have not tried them yet. I was actually looking for the hot cocoa ones, but alas they were not to be found. So I settled on the mystery flavor ones. Verdict tomorrow...

I dont think even i would say something that outrageous. Thats like... take a geranium to court. But at least a plant would just sit there.

I think it's lovely, BCM, especially for a formal occasion.

Wasn't there a yowling, clawing geranium in the Harry Potter books? Neville would have brought it to court with him.

BCM, I'm not a super makeup-y person, but I think the color is good on you and will look just right with mushroom/black.

I had interesting response to that, I was angry at your mother for saying that but thought maybe I deserved it a little bit being the child of the black sheep of the family I was raised by my aunt and call her mum
