I am more of a conscientious dissenter or simply apathetic bystander. Patriotism has never made all that much sense to me in that it often seems to require acts designed to hurt people - getting killed, trying to kill others that I am not upset with and who have not done anything to me, eating mass quantities of sugar, and so forth.

Hold on. I need to go find my eyeballs. They just rolled so hard they popped clean out of my head. I think they're under the chair somewhere.

But y'know, I'm thinking back to how in the past I used to flounce off the couch in a childish huff when presented with other points of view about stuff I'm struggling with. I think I'm doing a lot better in that regard this current go-around. Don't you guys? I did briefly consider a break from PC, but then a wise soul said that was why they didn't stray from the couch, so that's what I'm doing. Taking a break from everything BUT the couch.
I notice that in myself, also. Just having the opportunity to have those feelings and learn to deal with them better than the previous time cuz now youre "experienced" is to me one of the great advantages of this site and the people on it. And also the couch. Its like very long term group therapy.
Thanks for this!

I did end up taking my PRN. I'll sleep soon. Until then, I'm going to feel like a failure that I've had to take it 4 times since my pdoc prescribed it to me a month ago. I know I'm not falling apart, but it feels like I am. I know that I have a good life. I just...I'm so tied.

I'll be okay in the morning, anyone on the couch who cares. I just need to sleep and not feel anything for a little while. Thank you for tolerating my rambles. It's so out of character, especially here. Everyone here hates me, anyway. I'm not sure why I keep coming back.

((daisy)) Just yesterday, I'd noticed you hadn't posted on the couch for a while and was thinking about you. I'm glad to see you posting.

No need to apologize! I'm just trying to be prepared (and moaning) since technically my first day back to work is now the 26th. I agreed to mentor one of the new teachers in my district. When do you have to go back? Our students are back on the 9th.
Thanks for this!

Does anyone know a good self-help book about codependence? i've been reading on the CoDA website and I don't think their meetings are for me. There's way too much emphasis on religious kinda stuff and I am not looking for that. I told t I'd look into it and I did. I read enough to know my relationship with h fits the description. I just don't like all the religious talk. I want a book.

There might be other groups in your area. I haven't read it myself- but i found this on Amazon:

I have several friends who attended coda meetings. Sort of like AA feom what I know about it, they can vary wildly depending upon what the group make up is. If you’re actually interested in the concept I wouldn’t dismiss trying it out of hand just because of what you read on the website. I would try out a couple of different groups to see.

Yesterday I was in a mood for most of the morning, when so was complaining about studying my mother said she told me not to come.

I did China town and London dungeons with my sister, and I honestly had fun. I just feel sad about leaving again and going back to being alone again.
