I will do him a favor and not tell him you called him a hippie. He is far too dignified for that. He is a very proper cat.

Vengeful, and weird! Stormy (my big black cat), no matter where on my table I have my psych book, will decide that he must lay on that exact spot and push my book on the floor. I have finally decided to just keep it on the floor.

Saw the eye doctor today. It's been 5 years. My astigmatism and near sighted-ness is worse, and I now have to wear my glasses all the time. Luckily, I like my glasses. I think I look like a cute librarian in them especially with my hair up.

I tried watching “Queen’s Gambit” on Netflix and couldn’t get into it at all. The plot is linear and obvious. The chess was more interesting than any character. And I would bet a bag of cat fur that at some point there will be at least one scene where she plays chess with old men in a park.

Woke up to the sound of my cat barfing all over the bed. I'm not especially sensitive to cat barf even though I'm phobic of vomit. I am sensitive to have to clean my bed at 3am however. Especially when my entire upstairs has wood flooring and she could literally go anywhere else 🙄

Cats!!!!

I liked it but did skip a lot, especially the chess on the ceiling bits.

She does play old men at the end after she's won..

I did have therapy, which was really comforting.

Then I came home to my friend improvising cottage pie without an oven, which was really delicious! Pure coincidence that it's one of my favourite dishes. Black cat was all cuddly without being demanding, I think he sensed I was in a quiet mood.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, couchies! Here's a cat photo haha.Couch 221: Definitely Spam!

Q: Why do you have a bag of cat fur?
A: How else can you let the cat out of the bag?

I mean, once i asked the question, the answer was obvious, so nevermind!

It is really hard to get a cat in abag so if i had a cat in a bag iw ould not be letting out without some kind of incentive, atm it would be massive quantities of profiteroles. I just ate the last one.

I enjoyed The Queen's Gambit. I think it made some delicate observations about the nature of a fractured mother/daughter relationship. It was also refreshing to watch something where the female protagonist does not encounter physical or sexual violence. I enjoyed her simultaneous connection and disconnection. And it made me think that I too could be a Grand Master because I am an alcoholic and social misfit just like Beth!! Pass me the board ... hiccup ...

Actually had a good time on the date—nice guy, lots of shared interests, not a creep. I just don’t know about whether or not I could find him attractive, though... or whether or not that matters in the end.

The ceiling chess bits were my favorite bits!

I bet the old men were wearing old man cat coats.

And just generally, is it me or is some acting becoming just a lot of staring? The lead actress in Queen’s Gambit stared. A lot. Like the only acting was in degree of stare. I have noticed this in other shows and movies. I mean, we have faces.

Glad you had fun! Maybe it will take a bit of time to determine the attraction thing. I think it does matter to some extent, but sometimes you can become more (or less) attracted to someone over time.

This is incredibly stereotypical in terms of gender, but it makes me think of this quote from one of my favorite movies, "sex, lies, and videotape":

Graham: "I remember reading somewhere that men learn to love the person that they're attracted to, and that women become more and more attracted to the person that they love."

OK, now reading all the quotes in imdb, I need to watch that movie again--so much great dialogue:
"
Ann: So let me see, you said, um, you said that I should never take advice from someone that I haven't had sex with, right... right?
Graham: Basically.
Ann: Right. And, uh, *we* haven't had sex...
[giggle]
Ann: right?
Graham: So...
Ann: So, I, I, I guess from your own advice, I shouldn't take your advice.
Graham: I wouldn't."

And a couple therapy/mental health-related ones:

"Ann: I want to know why you are the way you are!
Graham: And I'm telling you it's not any one thing that I can point to and say "That's why!" It doesn't work that way with people who have problems, Ann, it's not that neat, it's not that tidy! It's not a series of little boxes that you can line up and count. Things just don't happen that way."

and
"Ann: You know, my therapist...
Graham: You're in therapy?
Ann: Aren't you?"

I'll stop now...
