What I remember about early bicycling days is how thirsty I always get. Dehydration is no laughing matter.
That and the pizza boxes stacked up.

Heat wave today - -2 when we woke up but dog walk was a mild 10F ( with wind chill felt like -1 but an improvement over yesterday's -11). We almost got our whole 4-5 miles in but cut it a little short because wind kicked up. The cat, who can't go out in this, is quite cranky and throws little cat fits every few hours.

ex-hankster would be eating low fat pizza with fake toppings. She would never go for my full chicago style sausage and giardiniera pizza or my nyc style garlic and banana pepper ones.

Yeah, the ones with skim mozzarella, low sauce, and plant-based bacon are hers.

Can I have some of yours?

Only a freudian could pervert talk of delicious pizza into focus on bodily functions.

As kids the longest game of Monopoly, we played was 4 hours, so its a fun way to spend time.. I like the traditional one though not the new special editions.

As expected, schools are closed today for a few inches of snow and ice--it's still sleeting a bit, so it's the right decision. (They were already closed yesterday for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.) Might close again tomorrow because it's already a half-day, so 2 hours late (if icy) isn't an option. And they're calling for snow again on Friday. Plus they're already closed for a "professional day" this coming Monday. Sigh...

We cousins played every weekend while we were growing up, while the grownups played italian card games.

Who cooked?

It’s a bit sad that I don’t talk to my cousins today, but I did have a lot of fun growing up with 5 boy cousins. Playing power rangers, gladiators, wrestling and making clubhouses with Fisher price furniture.

P.S how is the storm going in Michigan?

We only ate together on holidays - each aunt got one of the 3. Birthdays were held on sundays at 4 pmish, after you ate dinner at home. Card parties were friday, saturday, sunday nights, again after dinner. My mom made pizza in later years.

As the only girl, i wasnt really included in the playing, except for Monopoly or card games. I sat and read books on the holidays.

No, Una, it's not.

I'm sorry that she didn't support you through that traumatic experience.

It would have been normal in my family - I don't know what my mother could have done or why she would have paid any attention to mine.
We had to go to the cemetery every sunday after lunch with my grandmother to visit the grave of my grandfather who died when my father was little.

We played cards but not really board games - I found board games quite boring but I liked bridge and gin and so on. In high school one of my best friend's family played board games all the time and were quite cutthroat about it. I have never played monopoly for more than an hour.

I'm sorry for your loss, Artie. And thankful it was a peaceful experience. I've had to do it with 3 of my babies. It's hard.

So twice this week I've been called assertive and a b***h.

Examples include:

1. Telling someone in a corridor : "If you want to walk with me, you're going to have to catch up. I'm not waiting".

2. Posting in a group chat : "Getting other people's work, signed off is not my responsibility".

3. I had agreed to meet up with someone at 11. I had already waited 15 mins and after three missed calls and messages. They finally replied. They had overslept. I told them I was not going to wait. That I was leaving. She said I completely changed and turned into a b****h when I was angry. I wasn't particularly angry, just didn't want to wait for her to get dressed. Then factor in travel time for her to get to me. I didn't even have time to have coffee and breakfast in the morning so wanted to eat.

Most people are not used to women having boundaries. The old me used to put the needs over others before my own.
