hi!!
i am hearing voices for a few months now and i don't really know what to do... at first i thought they help me, but then i noticed they are liars... they sound nice but they aren't nice... it seems like so stupid as if they know what's good and what not... they say they are demons and that they lie with the feelings... unfortunately that seems to be what they actually do... they say for example "oh i'm so sad for your life"... but they say that laughin...g but that's only one example... they say stupid things and laugh saying that...it said it wants to hypnotize me.... that felt so disgusting.... i've been crying a lot lately.... i don't really know what to do.. i don't want to talk to a doctor about that... i was in psychiatry already and tried 2 medications for a month which was the worst time of my life but i kept hearing the voices and never told anyone... i also got mental images of the demon... it was just really really really ugly.... ![]() and i also see stupid faces in the clouds, on the ground, in the trees or when i close my eyes... yeah maybe i should go to a priest like someone told me... but i am also a bit afraid of doing that... maybe someone has some advice?? of course basically people have to say "please go to a doctor or therapist"... but i don't feel like that would help me so much... it feels like it only makes it more complicated... i just hope god wants to help me... peace |

Hi, sorry you're dealing with this. If you do go to a doctor they can try giving you different meds and could probably get rid of the demon. Be well.

You are dealing with a mental illness, and the illness itself, will make it hard for you to see a doctor. Just know that, and then, go make the appointment.

I too hear voices and many times they are like high school bullies. I have tried arguing with them and that just hurts me more. Finally I told them you have no right to be here and go back to where you came from. If they persist I ignore them and focus on something more positive or peaceful like music or reading. I read passages from my favorite religious or inspirational literature and that helps lift me up. Or I go to church and the music picks me up. I understand how terrifying it can be, but taking the voices seriously can only give them more power. One night they were saying all kind of bad things and I just laughed. And laughed and laughed. They were gone. Seems like laughter and smiling is good first aid. Keep in touch with people here on PC. |

hi. I have known a lot of amazing people who hear voices and see things. So this is not about who you are. But you deserve to be on the right medication to treat this. And believe me, the medications are there. I know several people who are successfully managing this. Just because they are on the correct medication for hearing and seeing things.
I, for one, would support you through finding a psychiatrist who knows how to help people who hear voices and see things. Just know you are not alone. Many good people are successfully under treatment for this. The good news is that a good pdoc who treats this condition would know the right medications. But its important to be honest about it. I know its scary. But once you get on the right medications you will see that the scariest part was life before you admitted it irl and got on the right medications. ![]() |

the strange thing is that the voices go directly at my thoughts.. they know my thoughts, feelings and memories... for example when i read something they say what i read, but i just can't bear how they talk... they are laughing all the time so damn disgusting...
at the beginning i thought the voices help me and other people are becoming evil, because they said strange things like "i am the devil" and other things... now i know the nice sounding voices lied all the time, but i still hear those voices but they are now openly not nice... it showed me how it can imitate voices and it really doesn't make sense at all that some people said certain things... it also showed me a real demon voice or so... can't explain how ugly and mean that sounds.... ![]() i am thinking of telling to a priest or searching for someone with experience in spiritual things... i somehow don't want to tell a doctor, because i don't really think they know what that is... but yeah... somehow my life doesn't make so much sense anymore and hasn't made a lot of sense before i heard these voices... and it's not only the voices i also see ugly faces in the clouds, in the trees or when i close my eyes... and blue lights and strange energies or so... can't explain it really well... |

I've read many similar accounts from others with this condition, and the voice I hear tortured me for over 5 years. It has been hellish. It's too soon to hope but I think the medication is finally fading that voice that tortures me. So if it was only a hallucination the whole time, I still have my privacy too. This is a wonderful development. I hope you can get on medication that helps. Suicide or other violence is a tragic waste.

I only just started on Abilify over the summer. But it took about 3 months to start working if that's what's helping now.

First, it doesn't have to take months for a med to work. Some people feel better in days to one week. And the voices go away. There is help for those other feelings too. Never mind, about how long you would have to take medication. That is the doctor's decision ... all that matters is right now. Do you want to feel better? If you do, go to the doctor. If you don't know where to find a psych doctor you can call your local hospital and ask them for a social worker. Tell them you need help. The social worker can find you the right doctor. Like most illnesses, it is best to get this now ... the sooner the better and the better chance to get well. Everyone is different. We do not know exactly what you have. But I do recognize it as a mental disorder for which there is treatment. Please pick up your phone and call. You can even call a hotline for information about where to call. Or you could go directly to the emergency room. You would get a doctor immediately if you do that. Please go. You need to take care of this. It will not go away by itself. I wish you the best. JJ |

I agree with JJ, it doesn't have to take this long. Zyprexa and Risperdal are a lot faster I think, but I didn't want to take those. I was convinced I was being stalked and tortured by a real person, it's only now I'm beginning to admit he wasn't real after all. It's kind of shocking to me.

I think medication could help but you may want to consider this story because someone else was tormented by voices.
zen The Ghost The wife of a man became very sick. On her deathbed, she said to him, "I love you so much! I don't want to leave you, and I don't want you to betray me. Promise that you will not see any other women once I die, or I will come back to haunt you." For several months after her death, the husband did avoid other women, but then he met someone and fell in love. On the night that they were engaged to be married, the ghost of his former wife appeared to him. She blamed him for not keeping the promise, and every night thereafter she returned to taunt him. The ghost would remind him of everything that transpired between him and his fiancee that day, even to the point of repeating, word for word, their conversations. It upset him so badly that he couldn't sleep at all. Desperate, he sought the advice of a Zen master who lived near the village. "This is a very clever ghost," the master said upon hearing the man's story. "It is!" replied the man. "She remembers every detail of what I say and do. It knows everything!" The master smiled, "You should admire such a ghost, but I will tell you what to do the next time you see it." That night the ghost returned. The man responded just as the master had advised. "You are such a wise ghost," the man said, "You know that I can hide nothing from you. If you can answer me one question, I will break off the engagement and remain single for the rest of my life." "Ask your question," the ghost replied. The man scooped up a handful of beans from a large bag on the floor, "Tell me exactly how many beans there are in my hand." At that moment the ghost disappeared and never returned. |

Hi. I read what you wrote about only wanting to take plants. I get it. I go to a naturopath. The woman who has an herb shop is a friend of mine. I even used to go to a homeopathic pdoc. But I am on regular pharm medication for anxiety and depression. Because the other stuff did not help enough. The herbalist has cancer. She is not taking plant based chemo unless they recommend it.
The point is that its worth it to take the regular pharmesudecal (sp?) stuff if its going to help. I know that some of these drugs can help with hearing voices and seeing things. I know it because I have talked with several people who have gotten huge relief from them. It may be 2 or 3. But thats totally okay. Because if it works then isnt it worth its weight in gold? I really hope you will not let your fear get in the way. And that you will reach out. Those voices may try to get you to not get help. But I hope you fight with everything you have to get the help you deserve Please dont let them win. okay? ![]() |

i am somehow afraid that it will make it worse if i tell it to a doctor... is there a special medication for hearing voices specifically?? isn't there a difference in how you can hear voices?? for example i hear the voices in the sounds outside of myself mostly, for example in the sound of a stream , in the leaves of trees in the wind, or machine sounds, car sounds or also the sounds of my footsteps... it's so annoying... sometimes for a short time they help me with my thoughts but then start again to bully... the strange thing is that there are different voices and it seems to be the same intelligence... and the voices directly go at my thoughts and try to make fun of the thoughts or scare me. sometimes it made really a demon voice or so i can't explain it really well... for example shrieking... or it also showed me how it can imitate peoples' voices.. i simply can't bear how they talk... they say they want to dumb me down and that they lie with the feelings... they say stupid things but laugh saying that.. for example they say all the time "i'm a real demon king" or "we want to take your soul" but say that as if it's funny or comfortable with that feeling in the voice and repeat that all the time... or they say " we don't have to do that" or "we will stop now doing that", but they don't do that... it's so boring but unbearable really...
but i also don't really want to tell to a priest somehow... however it really seems like a being that talks to me.. i also see faces for example in trees or the clouds or on the ground that look at me really really stupidly and they also move... i don't really know what to do... why such stupid things exist??? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Cerebro I'm really sorry you're suffering with these things. But yes, an antipsychotic would get rid of most of that. Are you ready to be free of that? You need a doctor or someone you can tell who can prescribe some meds for you. Be well.

Cerebro, I look up at clouds and see faces. The mind tries to make sense of the randomness of nature. I hear sounds outside and I think it is a child screaming but when I look there are no children. What is happening to you happens to everyone. Most people it does not come out in their waking life but in their dream life.
I am not saying don't reach out for help, but I am saying do not believe the voices. They are no more demons than the noises the trees make in the wind. Medicine can help refocus your life. The voices don't need to be made to go away, your anxiety and fear needs to be reduced so you do not project that onto sounds and images around you. Those "demons" are a projection of your fears. I think when people say doctor they mean psychiatric doctor. See if you can get a referral from a trusted friend or family member. If the first one is not sensitive, seek someone else. The other thing you can do to diminish the awareness of your fears is create little projects for yourself. If the voices come, tell them silently you are busy and cannot be bothered by them. Having a focus whether it is cleaning, walking, cooking a healthy meal, talking to a friend or watching a show, can all give you a focus so the mind is not free to wander. Some people I know do crosswords or do jigsaw puzzles. |

I can relate Cerebro. It sounds horrendous. I've known several people ( myself included) that have been accused by thoughts or voices of being the devil. You need to affirm the Truth and get rid of the lies. I don't know how much I'm allowed to share on here about personal faith. I haven't read the guidelines yet so message me if you want me to elaborate...

Consider the care of a therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist. Also there is an international movement to support voice hearers and work from the perspective of the person experiencing the voices. Hang in there.

It's something that can have a multitude of different opinions. And often those labeled with mental health issues, are instantly thought to have an added mental health issue as soon as hallucinations arrise. While that can be exactly what these are... there are other opinions and other ideas that would/could state differently...
Sometimes meds can actually cause issues, so the question might be, have you started or stopped any meds recently(depending on what type of med, and how long it was previously taken for, could contribute to how long the withdrawl effect could last)(if that's what it is). You're age may play a factor in this as well.. like if you were in the general age range of those who end up with brain changes that can cause symptoms like these... Have you had a neurologist to talk to about this? there may be some tests he/she can run to rule out any tumors or sezures or sleep issues or other related things, that could be presenting itself by hallucinations... Is it pretty much a constant link of communication between them? when this happens, does your grasp on reality start to bend, or change? and then do you regain the grasp of reality between when this isn't happening? However, if its no hallucinations, and if it's some sort of psychic related connection... Just know, that they hold control over people by fear... if you are no longer scared of them, they have no control, and will eventually leave you alone. Also, telling them in a direct and powerful tone to leave you alone, and that you dont want them around you anymore, and that you no longer fear them/and they no longer have any control. and if they dont leave you alone, that you will have someone banish them, leaving you unharmed. And that you will no longer listen to them, and will ignore them if they continue to invade on your space, and that you have reclaimed your space back, and it is no longer open for them to ever use again. and "leave now" - I have heard this helps.

Cerebro777, I am schizophrenic and I used to see faces in trees also! I even saw a face on the moon. What helped me was being on an a-typical anti-psychotic.

I too hear voices. But quietly now. 7 years ago they tricked and lied to me so much I had to get meds. It was so wonderful for a while. The music was great and they were so loving. Hearing voices network has more of us. Wish I could snap my fingers and make you normal, but that's your path
