But she knew she had a tick right? I mean they cling on for a while....I thought you had to burn them off or something....like with a blown out match head.

well it does make me feel better when I draw those symbols I get obsessed with drawing them for a period of time and during that time I just draw them almost thoughtlessly I dont put any thought or artisticivity into them they just flow out effortlessly almost like its natural to be writing them.but they do make me feel better when I draw them I never thought of it like that though like they were helping me stray from my problems that is interesting.

One thing I could do with the celtic crosses is a lot have celtic knots on them and you can visualize the different knot strands interweaving.....I could only do it while psychotic but it was pretty cool and if I pic uttered a radar screen sweeping back and forth over the crosshairs I could also stop the voices....

That's amazing to me.

When I get a tick, I just pull it out.

I think it can take a while for symptoms to show up. I got interested because my son's friend just found out he has lyme disease that he got from his mother during pregnancy (she was not dx at that time). Anyway, the psychiatric-looking symptoms he and his mom have had been dx bipolar, but now they are looking at lyme disease as the cause.

Wild I'll see if there are any tests for it....I could probably pcr for it myself if I had to.

Is it possible to get a tick bite and to not know because it's in an area you don't necessarily see very easily? I'm not sure, but maybe they fall off by themselves when they're done feeding?

I don't know. They might. I don't worry about it too much. I've never had a problem caused by a tick.

They fall off when they're engorged. You'd probably notice an engorged tick on you.

I think they are hard to just pull out without leaving the head behind, which I think is a problem. There are a few different ways to coax them to pull their heads out - like a hot match

Most ticks don't carry any disease. I think if Sometimes has never found a tick on herself, it's unlikely she had a tick she didn't notice and which also happened to carry a disease. The odds just seem to be against it.

Yeah it sounds like they have to be on for >24 hours to infect you so I kind of doubt it plus it said psychosis is rare there should really be lots of other symptoms first. Still the test is easy Elisa or western blot of course a dx lab will take weeks and charge $$$$.

I just checked the CDC website. They say not to use a match, because it may cause the tick to inject fluids into you. I would add that you run the risk of burning yourself.

If the tick leaves its head in you, it may cause a little irritated bump, but it's unlikely to be any real problem. It will heal up.

As I said, I've had many ticks in my life. And my animals have had many, many more. I just grab them and pull them out. It's never been a problem. I think people make too much of it.

I'm with you on that, but if I had a symptom (like musical hallucinations) that were specifically linked to lyme disease, I'd sure want to find out. I found out lyme disease is treated with antibiotics, often long term antibiotics. I doubt AP's would work for a symptom caused by lyme disease. If it was me, I'd just want to rule it out, that's all.
