it has been a very long time since i last posted on here, but I feel the need to come back "home" and get some much needed help from freinds and "family:".

I have been having small chest pains daily, and they get more painful if I do not take my full zanax (sp) the other day I had a very bad attack and I got angry, and started yelling and could not breath, and I felt warm all over and I just did not feel "right" you could say. somehting inside of me felt like it snapped. I also felt like I was outside of my body, looking down on me while I was doing this, I was crying and screaming at others and I do not do this.. my chest felt like it was going to explode into a million pieces, and i felt like I was worthless to all around me.

What happend to my normall panic attacks??????????
I can handle those a whole lot better those just feel like my chest is going to break apart with the pain of the intense heart stopping stuff.. or is that normall also???????

AM I having something differnt each time and not fully understanding my panic attacks? or what??????

Sounds like a panic attack to me. Sometimes as you know with anxiety, our thoughts run wild and we will often take our thoughts to the next level. So in the mists of having an attack your mind may have escalated to think it was something more, thus making the symptoms more intense. Please speak with your T or PDoc about this just to make them aware of it. Take care and please keep us posted.

Hi Lady, nice to see you. What you are describing sounds difficult. It seems like a purely physiological reaction to me. That is, your body is taking over and you are left in the mess after. I wonder if there are ways to tell that this is happenig for you before it gets very bad? Also, though it is utterly disgusting, you can take the xanax under your tongue for quicker absorbtion. I am sorry this is happening. If you have any bit of control you may try to get off by yourself quick if this begins. Also, cold water help? Drinking, hands and face in cold water? Good luck.

HI, its reassuring to know someone who used to visit this site knows they can return ! We have not "met" as I am relatively new. IMHO - I would suggest an appt with your family Doctor to have your heart checked out. Women do not experience the same symptoms of heart problems as men, and what you are describing to me sounds like it "COULD" be physical. If it is not physical - and I hope it isnt!!!!!!!!!!!!! - then it just sounds like your panic attacks are now triggered by a sensation in your chest that causes you fear. I really have never heard of the anger and yelling , feeling like something in your chest snapped etc from people having panic attacks (I have a psych degree and work as in InVivo Therapist - but that certainly does not mean I know all there is to know about panic attacks ! )

Good luck and if this is your panic taking a different form, if you can deal with the "other panic you have experienced", use the same coping skills with this new sensation you are feeling, but I truly would suggest seeing a Doctor just to rule out a heart problem.

Thank you..

I have talked to my Pdoc about this, but he just blows it off.. I am on state medicade where I live and sometimes they do not like to cover expesive test to see if we actually have soemting wrong with us, so I have to play it by ear and keep a journal of how often thiese new ones happen and tell my caseworker and see what she says when I call her at the end of the month..

Cause she might be able to get me into a heart specialest, if I say something is wrong and I want a second opionion

I've had some really bad (and unusual) anxiety/panic attacks myself for the last few months. This monster always seems to be morphing into something different to keep you guessing. The symptoms wax and wane and then come back even worse the next time or pop up at the most inconvenient times, etc. I hate it.

Anxiety will differ P, you can still have symptoms of anxiety and not have an attack for months.

For me I get anxiey almost daily, symptoms but rarely attacks.

Feeling of worthlessness and what not sounds more like stress and depression then anxiety....

That's just from what i've read, how you are feeling better.

I am feeling a little bit better today, than yesterday, but some times the attacks are so bad ..

Today I had one out of the blue and I was eating lunch with my honey..
I have no idea why, all we where doing was eating..

so yes I do know and understand what they are, but they are really staring to worry me. My meds are no longer working or at least I think they are not ?

I have an appt, with my T on the 27 again so I am hoping I can talk tohim about it and see what he says.. I am giong to ask for a new med for my deprssion or something to see if that will help, maybe something to help combat the both of them ??

Thank you for coming back and talking to me.. I do appearicate it sundance.. I really do

Usually an anti-depressant is good for both anxiety & depression. I've always been on anti-depressants except for Remeron, and for a short time was on klonopin and ativan. (Not the same time).

Sometimes getting a book on anxiety can help you understand it better. Maybe you need an up on meds? Maybe something new all together?

Is there alot of stress going on right now that be making your anxiety etc worse?

What were you thinking when you were eating? Maybe a sudden thought that you were not aware of triggered it... it could be the smallest thought...

I am going to give you a fantastic book that helped me with this.

Don't Panic by. R.Ried Wilson ph.d

Go out and get it, it's fantastic... solved alot of my problems...

the other two books that you have told me about are wonderful so I will go and look this one up too ..

I do not know what tirggerd this one while we were eating.. I really was not thinking of anything that would have triggerd that i can recall, that is one thing that bothers me, I do not remember much when I have a panic attack for a few hours.. they are so sever anymore.

Is that normall ???
I am glad to finally have some peopele to tlak to about this. I do think I am starting to feel better that I can talk to others about my attacks now..
Maybe I will start being able to work through them

I think that it is not uncommon to not recall the attack as clearly. When you are panicking you are getting all those uncomfortable, scary symptoms you aren't thinking what the triggers are.

Sometimes though, well this is for me anyways, is that if you recall what the triggers could be you can deal with it, and then the trigger wont be causing you anxiety anymore.

Heat always triggers anxiety, even if I am not feeling anxious that day. I will sometimes automatically get the symptoms, but since I am able to pin point it then I am able to deal with it so I don't literally get an anxiety attack, even though the symptoms are still there I still can make it go away.

Also what I realized today is that what also triggers me is when my guy goes out mountain biking, I started to get the tightness in my stomache this morning even though I know he will be fine, but I feel a bit of the anxiety... anything can trigger it... finding the trigger is important. What my pdoc told me to do is write it down, write my automatic thoughts, my symptoms, what I was doing etc. That helps to pinpoint it as well.

The book don't panic is fantastic I highly reccomend it

Bam! when i first read your post, i didn't connect the dots. just now i remembered a friend who experienced the same thing that you described. have you had a physical lately? if it's like my friend's condition, it was a small heart problem that was fixed promptly with the minimum of meds........and she's doing great. xoxo pat

Yes, I'm for the physical too... mvp can cause panic attacks too. Stress that causes chest, shoulder muscles to contract can lead to panic (subconsiously even) and further bad feelings. Breathe Dragon, breathe. Make sure it isn't physical, and that will help reduce some of the worry.
