I'm so sorry to hear about the fire! I hope and pray it is brought under control soon, before it ignites more fires. The wind certainly doesn't help as far as putting out the fire, but hopefully it'll blow the smoke away from you, not towards you.
Thanks! Yeah I really worry about the animals harmed in the fires.

So. Do. I. Tears me up. All of the destroyed nature, yes. But the animals...that is just too much.

Not far from where I live is the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. The largest one in the world. They do all they can to rescue and treat animals that have survived the fires, but are injured. I just force myself to look on the bright side of it. There are SO many animals that ARE saved! And so many owners of domestic animals reunited with their pets. It happens a lot!

Almost 3 am where I am. I did sleep briefly, but woke up hungry. My husband and I ate our last official meal at 3 pm, sort of skipping dinner.

Bpcyclist, the photos below are pour toi. I ate the tarte aux framboises as a late night snack. The pictured pastry shop is where I bought it. You can see everywhere that the eclairs in Paris are thinner and longer than the ones I see in the US, and have a variety of icing toppings. I haven't yet tried an eclair here. Will do at some point.

I saw something of that scope in Rome many years back. I also saw Michelangelo's sistine chapel painting in the Vatican in Rome (my honeymoon... a loooong time ago). Have you ever been to Italy?

Though not Michelangelo's, I saw Venus de Milo and Winged Victory today. The latter was especially impressive.

Our experience at the museum was quite unique in that there were comparatively few people there. It's sad that it takes a pandemic to lessen the crowds.

I apologize that my photos are not good quality. Photography is not a strength of mine.
I saw the Mona Lisa too. Yes it was well-guarded!

I ran over a sqirrel today. It stopped just short of my side of the road but then ran right in front of my tire.

Cleared out the pantry today. N2 and N3 are coming over tomorrow to sort through their things. That will really help the clutter. Tomorrow, I am going to sort through my clothes and see if I want to get rid of any more.

N3 took me to dinner tonight. I had a small steak medium rare with half a plate full of asperagus. I had iced tea. Trying to cut back on soda and milk.

Is it October 7th yet? I figure that by then I should be all settled into my new place. Unpacking will be fun!

We've got high winds predicted so the power company is going to be shutting off the electricity to avoid hot lines blowing into the trees. A lot of the land around us has already burned as some of you might remember but the forest directly surrounding us is still standing and potential fuel. So it will be a bit inconvenient without power for the duration of the wind storm but better that than another forest fire.

Anyhow, all this to say I will be absent for a couple of days for a good reason. No worries.

Hugs to all with the wildfires raging. That must be terrifying. My heart goes out to you!

Had a good time playing Scrabble today. Got another 'triple-triple' ESTRANGE worth 131! Enjoyed reading David Foster Wallace's bio now that it has moved into his career and left all the academic mumbo-jumbo behind. I reluctantly took a shower and blew-dry my hair carefully and it looks better than it has in a while. I got a too-short pixie cut in January and my hair grows super slow.

Still mildly depressed with no sign of my Fall hypomania. There's nothing to look forward to so i may skip it and just get a mild boost like in the Spring. That's okay. I enjoyed deep-cleaning my home in the Spring and if that's all i do again this Fall it'll be fine. After all, there's no one to have adventures with so i likely won't make any memories to treasure. COVID reality. Sigh!

Hugs to all who struggle!

Have had some dark thoughts lately. Some are even scary. I left a message for my counselor. Thanks to this virus I haven't seen her since February. But I am desperate now. Before things get any worse I thought I better contact her. My husband had to leave work early on Saturday so he could come be with me. I didn't feel safe that day. It gets like this for me every year. I already talked to my p-doc she said that at my next appointment we will see how the past month went. Well I can tell you now that it's not gonna go well. I've just been journaling and listening to music. The music seems to help keep me somewhat calm. I keep it upbeat. Now to go back to listening.

apart from the regular pain, and the regular no sleeping, I've been informed today that I'm a lucky winner of a jane austin mug that should be with me in 28 days

feel crap but hey, I have something to look forward to. it's only a mug, but you can never have enough of those (I don't think so anyway, I don't have many as it is)

Ugh. I had trouble sleeping again. 50mg seroquel and still didn’t sleep until late. And woke up at 6:30. I tried to eat breakfast but I’m practically sick to my stomach. I managed two spoonfuls of overnight oats and maybe a third of a microwave protein muffin. I should probably pick up some protein shakes to keep my strength up.

I think the worst part is the waiting. It could be 2-3 days, or it could be 2-3 weeks. None of us know. I’m on edge waiting for a call.

I’ll be ok to get through work. I wish my pdoc appt was sooner so I could get some klonopin. But it’s next Monday, no sense in trying to change it.
