I fell when i was out walking and it must have looked spectacular because a guy stopped his car to ask if i was all right. A young lady passer-by asked too. It was nice to have their concern and i am fine. The nice weather starts tomorrow and not a moment too soon!

My first night on 16mg of Valium was a little rocky but nothing i couldn't handle.

Enjoying "Parks and Rec."

Oh, no...falling is so unsettling - even if you're not especially injured. I'm sorry you fell. Please do be careful

My nose is either stuffed up or running like crazy today. Im guessing allergies. It's 8:30 and I'm in bed since I got up at 6. Going to try to read.

So whether my son goes to grad school or not he's moving out in a year and a half. He was offered my nephew's place to buy when they move. I think it's a bit expensive but H thinks it's a good idea even if it's not used while he's away at school. I'm not so sure. I mean it's a lot and needs work. I'd rather him focus on getting a car, job, school before getting a place. It's not like we can cover his fee's too. I'm trying to remind myself we won't know his finances until October-ish. If he does go away to grad school who's to say he'll move back here.

Everyone else is trying to get him to grow up/move out. I just want him to network. Go to game jams, drive, explore, do internships, volunteer, go away to school. H will help him get this place but not help pay for grad school but wants him to go to grad school. I just don't get it. I don't know how to put my thoughts together. to make a good argument. I hope my son doesn't feel my husband's kicking him out. I just don't get my husband's reasoning.

Got up at 6 and its 1015 now and I can't sleep because I have a migraine! I think it was caused by the hot wing sauce I used at dinner. I took a pill for the migraine but it hasn't helped yet. So here I am online instead of sleeping like I should be. It is taking my attention away but I'm not throwing up or anything yet. Maybe I'll get a hot water bottle or ice to relieve the pain.

My head is a tiny bit better but now my legs and back hurt. I tried an ice pack bi.
ut that made it worse so I tried a hot water bottle and that helped a little. I was gonna take some tylenol but Im not sure how much I can take because the bottle doesn't say except not to exceed so much in 24 hours. My legs are killing me and my head still hurts. If it was the hot sauce Im never touching that stuff again. I need to sleep but can't! No fever. Temp is 96.x or 97.x. I feel queasy now too. I think I'm gonna go for the Tylenol for the body aches as I highly doubt it will touch the headache.

The weather has been pleasant lately, where I am. Sunny or mostly sunny, but cool. It does feel like spring is on the horizon. I suddenly have a bit more energy than before. Right now it's just fine. I'll have to watch it, if it rises more.

We took a pleasant walk. There are trails all around where we live. Every time we take walks we discover something nice or at least useful. Where we walked there is a garden park, a special reserve where specific plants, a type of lizard, and bird dwell that are not seen many other places. We found a site where you can take dump type stuff (tires, electronics, over-size stuff), and an ice skating rink/gym center.

I feel like I've been doing the bulk of the cleaning tasks, lately. I do almost 100% of the work in the kitchen. I'm softly encouraging Hubby to do more "unpacking/set up" work in the house. I'm sick of moving boxes. I'd even like to see some art on the walls.

I'm still getting used to my new kitchen. I went from gas stove/oven to electric. I hate the stove top! Today I attempted to use my cast iron (yes, cast iron) grill pan on it. At one point while it was preheating, I turned around and then heard a loud crack. The darned iron grill pan cracked like the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia. I could only exclaim "Oh my God!!!!" Hubby heard both the crack and exclamation from upstairs and came down to see what happened. He rightly stated that it was better that pan (empty) than a Dutch oven filled with boiling goulash.

I saw my kidney doctor this morning. I saw him first in 2014 and I swear he was a young guy. I guess 7 years can really age a person. But basically he was all like “drink a lot of water and we’ll redo the tests in 4 weeks.” I see my primary tomorrow. I had no idea I was seeing him so soon. And I am really going to explain the severe PMS I still get every month which I think is causing a lot of these issues and see what his suggestion is. My therapist says he should be able to do something for me. I’m also going to ask him what’s up with getting a hysterectomy since my stupid gynecologist said it’s basically impossible for a trans man to get one done and with me and my mental health issues it might be even tougher. Both therapists had the same look and expression when I told them and they said it should not be that hard let alone impossible like the doctor is saying it will be. Then I see my surgeon at 3:45 and I am just going to ask him if he can fix my chest. It looks so wonky to me he has to be willing to help me out.

I need to start being assertive with doctors and telling them what I want and need.

I do seem to feel a legit difference in how I’ve been feeling today compared to the last 10 days. I was supposed to get my period yesterday. I just have this sort of calm feeling in my lungs like it’s over now.

OMG!!!! I thought cast iron was basically indestructible. That's really something! I grew up using an electric stove. They're so much less efficient than gas is.

Yes, that's what I thought, too. Then Hubby read up on them and saw that it's not uncommon for such stove tops. He said they recommend gradually heating such pans or Dutch ovens.

When we finally settle somewhere, I'll want a gas stove top again! The only advantage to my current electric one is that it cleans up quicker.

Weather is really nice these few days, I'm feeling OK minus some headache issues. I've turned my fascination with language learning switch back on apparently and am taking up Chinese and Japanese again. The thing with me and language learning (despite having a degree in one) is this tends to happen-- serious, intense study for awhile, then I leave it for a long time, and come back. I think it's mild burn out that causes me to lose interest, but right now, it's going strong! I try not to focus on two at once, especially when there are no real ties between the two, but this one is special. I'm really enjoying myself. I do think writing is important and I do not neglect that - I have formal textbooks for Chinese and ebooks for Japanese. I still pratice pencil and paper methods. I have to say I don't particularly enjoy it when I can use a computer to input pinyin (Chinese) or romaji (Japanese) to produce the characters for me :P. Anyway, I'm enjoying that.

Japanese was one of my majors in college. Tough language! I can't imagine taking on Japanese & Chinese at the same time! I was also fluent in German many years ago (I lived there). Your language experience is most likely similar to mine..."Use it or lose it."

Having lived in Germany before English was widely spoken in eastern Germany, I know how lonely one can feel when emersed in a new language. I add this because it makes me think of Soupe du jour. I hate to address this for her, but I greatly missed English when I was in Germany. The telephone & emailing were great sources of comfort for me. In addition to mental health support, I'd imagine these boards serve that purpose for her. We've PMed once or twice about being expats. Is living abroad exciting & an adventure? Absolutely! Can it be lonely & difficult? Absolutely! Just a shout out to Soupe...be nice to her!

I have a degree in East Asian Languages and Area Studies (Mandarin Chinese focus) and I would go for pinyin for everything, save studies in the history of the character system. I have forgotten so many characters, you wouldn't believe. However, the spoken language, for me, was fairly easy. Chinese has among the most simple grammars of any language I've ever encountered. I liked that because grammar is usually my weak point in language studies.

Nice to hear you are doing better. I hope the headaches finally go away.

My concentration was in Asian Studies, too. It's my understanding that there's no true tense (past, present, future...) in Mandarin Chinese. Grammar always kicked my butt...German grammar was the worst!!!

It used to be kind of a joke that since German & Japanese were my two primary foreign languages, I was into "fascist languages."
