2nd day of the volunteer job was today. It went well. There was a pair of big elderly Himalayan cats there. They were beautiful and so sweet. One had a lions cut. All the cats there are so cute. Cowboy wasn't there today so that must mean he got adopted. I'm glad, he was such a cool and friendly cat. Anyway I'm loving this volunteer job and am excited to keep doing it

Doing much better today. I had a friend stay up and talk to me until 4am this morning. It hasn’t changed one thing about my painful situation but my paradigm. It has shifted. I feel lighter, freer and happy for the first time in a long while. Good friends are solid gold. My friend would be an excellent psychologist as wise as he is.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 90 minute hot stone massage yesterday. I liked it so much I may start doing that more often. I’ve had a painful shoulder situation for about a month now and it helped tremendously.

I got the fun glasses I ordered in and love them. Wasn’t sure initially that they would work but am pleased. They are emerald green like my eyes with a cat eye shape.

About to go to lunch at a Greek restaurant with friends and then run errands. I don’t prefer Greek except for the blackened salmon plate but am excited to see my friends and visit.

I have an appointment with my NP this week to get back on Lithium. Why suffer when I don’t have to?

I hope everyone has a peaceful day. Much love

@Soupe du jour - I’m so sorry about your dad passing away you’re in my thoughts!

Today I have to go buy a new vacuum cleaner for my new house. Ours is years old and doesn’t do such a great job anymore. I’ve seen these ones advertised at Big W and the reviews say they’re as good as Dyson but a fraction of the cost! I also need to buy a new bin for the kitchen. All these little expenses add up when you move.

Cleaners are coming to our old place today. Paying a fortune to get it done but standard is high when you move and they do a final inspection. Need to cancel electricity at our old place starting tomorrow.

I’m on track for unpacking. I have the basics unpacked. There’s still a lot more to unpack of course but we’ve got enough out boxes to get by for now which is good.

Loving having a bath and dishwasher in my new place. Haven’t had one for 6 years in our old rental.

Just had my pdoc appointment. He’s amazed I’m doing so well despite all the stress. Kept saying I could contact him for anything. He’ll contact the pharmacy and tell them brand name only for latuda. Given my history this is truly a miracle drug and he thinks it’s great that my insurance is insisting on brand name only as that will keep it stable. See him again in 3 months.

Met my new pdoc, he’s good enough. Not amazing but friendly and didn’t make me feel bad about anything. I’m not sure I trust him because I said SSRI’s make me manic and he decided to put me on a low dose of lexapro anyway. He thinks because I’m on so much anti-manic medication right now it shouldn’t be an issue. He said try the 5mg of lexapro and then come back in two weeks. In two weeks I will be doubling my propranolol dose as per his instructions.

So we’ll see how this goes. I’m nervous, I don’t want to go manic but maybe he’s right about the mood stabilizers keeping me in check. I won’t know unless I try.

My day was pretty rushed and quick. I woke up late (about 15minutes beofre I had a telehealth appointment) and had therapy and saw my psychiatrist back to back. Made lunch, picked up meds, and just relaxing at home. I am starting some trauma work in therapy and have IOP 3 days a week 3 hours a day, it's a lot of therapy but it's helping I think. I'm hopeful this week. Maybe I'll add a bit more later.

bizi just throwing that out there. Do you have health insurance?That is probably the most important of all insurances.car and homeowners insurance are also mandatory.

Thanks, Bizi.

My mortgage rate is really low right now. I renewed when the rate was low.

I have medical insurance through work so that'll continue for now. For healthcare we have provincial coverage so all medical is covered. The medical insurance through work is for prescriptions, so they're covered.

I got a few things done today, so i feel just barely worthy. Lots of lying around lately, tho. One of our news anchors made a big booboo. He went to say "JUNK drawer" and instead he said "DRUNK drawer"! A telling slip of the tongue?!

@Nammu:

Great that your doctor is supporting you with your med of choice!

@wildflowerchild25:

I share your concern as anti-depressants make me (hypo)manic too. You have an appointment in two weeks tho, so the short time frame should help to detect any upswings before they get out-of-control.

Sorry I don't understand this. What does Freud have to do with stoicism? And Freud has long been discredited in the field of Psychology. His theories are now considered pseudoscience. I have a bachelor degree in Psychology.

Freud (or more modern faces of treatments with roots back to him) has been used by many therapists to treat MI and is still in use. I didn't say that he had something to do with stoicism. Instead, I said that it is wise to leave him behind "and find more practical ways to support us".

May be you misunderstood my use of the words "practical ways"? With that I meant more focus on what we can do to cope with MI instead of using years with a Freudian therapist. As far as I understood your description of stoicism, it has some similarities to my own experience with CBT.

Then I gave some examples from modern CBT. (CBT isn't always about finding "thinking errors", but about finding ways to think about a situation that is useful and helps one to move forward).

It was so I understood your "presentation" of stoicism, as a philosophy that helped you to move forward in your life.
