I'm actually suffering with a kidney infection right now. Dunno how I got it but it's there and hurts like hell! eck!

Thanks for all the great advice everyone... Just dunno what to do anymore. Everything I do seems to only work for a few weeks then stops either on it's own or because I slip up and fall back down.

Hi.

Do you mind me asking about how much you lost on your diet? I am heavier than the law allows. LOL!! (Have to use a little levity here..or I'd be so darn discouraged.)

This is the first time in my life that I have been overweight. I'm wondering tho..if my being on Cymbalta is weighing in heavily in my weight gain.(pun intended)

Take good care,

Dottie

Cymbalta can have that effect but when I was on it, i only gained like 5 pounds but it didn't work for me so I got off of it pretty quickly.

In all, since I first started trying to lose weight later last year, I've lost close to 70 pounds. I was 265 pounds, now I'm 197.

I go to see a dietician and what she has taught me is that at a certain number of calories your body realizes it is not getting enough calories and starts self preservation. Could you be eating that low amount of calories that your body is doing this? I don't know what you are eating so you will have to decide for yourself. It is true that you will hit a plateau as you lose weight. If you can it is a good idea to see a dietician and they can work you through this. I am a restrictor and bulimic so maybe i am not the best to answer this post but thought I would give you what advice I have been given. Good luck.

I live in Ohio...and the winters here can be brutal. I once lost a lot of weight by going for 30 minute walks in the snow, on a daily basis.

I am going to try that again just as soon as the weather cools down enough. Thanks for your input.

bear, I don't think it's my calorie intake. I usually eat close to the right amount of calories each day for me. Some days I don't, but most I do. Thanks for the advice.

Don't focus on losing weight. Focus on eating plenty of food. But reasonably healthy food. You don't need to eat salad all day, either, just eat sensibly. Go to the gym 3 times a week. Tell the gym instructor that you want to go on a weight loss excercise program.
Don't check your weight.
Focus on improving your physique instead.
It's a much more accurate indicator of where you are at, anyhow. The scales are no longer accurate for measuring fat.

The gyms around here costs a lot of money to join because we only have two and a lot of people go. I have to save every penny I have for moving to Florida. Desperate to lose weight... So I just walk/jog at the track in town and do simple arobics at home.

Thyroid meds. can take a while before you see a difference in some things, I noticed near immediate benefit, not weight as much as all the negatives that come along with a sluggish thyroid (hypothyroidism) I still have to lose some weight and exercise but the pounds before thyroid evaluation, and meds., it seemed the weight waas piling on.
Don't fret, give the meds time, they may have to increase the thyroid meds in months to come, but give it time.
Don't resort to bulimia or any other dangerous eating/non eating rememdies. Just like on another thread where one of your posts is, I am also cheering you on with this. Desperate to lose weight...
You are in my thoughts. Many good wishes to you. Desperate to lose weight...
Take care now,
