Hello everyone!
So, since my head is fairly okay right now (well, mostly... I guess...), I, of course, need something new to obsess about. ...how about those FIFTY or so pounds I've gained in the past year??? Egads, that's a lot. I'm starting to try to lose weight (again), and hoping I can find some weight loss buddies around the boards. Anyone here willing to join me for progress checks and some online encouragement? Please?

I'm in - I've got around 25 lbs of menopause weight - that's after the 10 I lost in the last couple months. As long as we can have progress checks without having to admit our true weight (the biggest reason I wouldn't go to WeightWatchers!) I'd love to have follow-ups, encouragements and tips!

I have gained 50 pounds because have been eating mostly fast food and pizza because our kitchen sink has not drained for over a year and my fridge quit working early this year. I have a new fridge but sink and dishwasher still can't be used. It's hard to make meals without a sink. But if/when I have a sink I would like to change diet.

I have been using Spark for my tracking my kidney support diet but should be doing better with weight on it.
It would be nice to have some encouragement from folks that are likely to be "emotional eaters". I maintain plateaus this one has been for about 3 years. Hard to go backwards once it goes on though. I am a petite 5ft 1 inches and 156. This is way too much weight for my small frame and very unhealthy. Anyway sign me up.

Take Lamictin - gee, I'm beginning to stress about losing too much weight, even though I feel I eat fair portions daily. Overall I think it has been a bit of an appetite suppressant, but I shouldn't be losing weight - I do no real exercise (Only slowly starting to ride my horse) and I eat about as much as my boyfriend.

I'm not sure if this will help others, but writing.......typing my goals sometimes helps. I was doing really well with going to the gym, but in the past couple of weeks I wasn't going as much as I was before, so this week my goal is to go 5 times this week.
What is your goal this week?

Wahoo! It's a party!
My goal this week? Exercise (on my mini stepper) for at least 30 minutes, at least 5 days this week. Also seriously cut back on the snacking. Because increasing exercise can often cause a person to gain a little weight at first, I won't set a weight loss goal this week... I just hope to not gain anything. I'm seriously thinking about going to one of those weight loss clinics to see if I can get them to give me a prescription for some phentermine (an appetite suppressant). Has anyone ever been to one of those? Did you like it? Did it work?

I am so in. I just went up on Seroquel and I have put on about 8 lbs in two weeks.
So far I am up 40lbs from my best weight when I was eating well and working out two years ago. It is time to do something. I have joined weight watchers, but have been so busy the last couple of weeks and working on stability that my eating has been all over. I went to the gym today and used the eliptical and then the upper body machines. My goal is to go to the gym 5 days and two of those days will be yoga. Then I will weigh in on Saturday morning. |

I think Weight Watchers is a great program, if you have the time, energy, and OCD to count points. It worked really well for me when I lost weight a few years ago, but I won't be doing it this time around because I don't want to have to obsess about anything...
What makes this hard for me this time is that I'm kinda trying to hide this from my mom, who is my roommate. I have a history of eating disorders (several years ago) so she's constantly paranoid that I'm going to become anorexic again, even though I'm technically obese now. I made the appointment with the weight loss clinic, and my intake is on Friday, with follow-ups on Thursday nights. I hope they aren't a bunch of quacks...

I bit the bullet and weighted myself and it is 155 which is a relief as my eating has been all over the map.
I always weigh in the morning but in my clothes because that is what they weigh me at the doctors office. I am active (walking for about 3-4 hours) twice a week as a rule. This week it will be 3 plus. I stop to scan things and start up again. Not aerobic but does burn calories. On the other days I am on the computer a lot. I will not slack on spark and input my food today.

Oh PS - I don't want anyone to think that they have to post their actual weight or BMI on here. In fact, please don't (no worries, SunnyD... ). I just don't want this to be a forum for comparing ourselves to one another, and that's what happens to me when people throw numbers out there.
I envision this as a place where we can share: * Small successes * Everyday frustrations * Healthy eating tips * General Advice * Exercise tips * Venting galore! * And whatever else tickles your fancy! I understand that some people find it helpful to share their weight as a means of accountability to someone, but my experience through several years of weight yo-yoing has been that sharing only helps the sharer and not really the other members of the forum. However, you're free to disagree with me. Those are just my thoughts, but you are, of course, welcome to write whatever you'd like!

My healthy eating tip for the day is when making a tuna salad sandwhich I don't use mayo (which is one molecule away from being plastic LOL) instead I use relish and add orange pepper and celery.

That's what did it for me. I didn't change anything with my eating habits, or exercise and I've dropped 18lbs since June.

I'm in too! I lost 16 pounds last month by eating right, cutting out the soda/snacks, etc, but have since fell off the wagon I have to get back on track.
What is lamictin for? I suppose I could just google it. |

Is that lamictal? That's what it took me to. I'm on lamictal! I'm a dummy.

OK, so what's the plan? I'm kind of thinking we should start with exercise since that's good for us and a little easier than changing eating habits. Then we could that gradually. So maybe we do a minimum of 30 minutes 3 times a week (something like that) and have to post when we're done?

I have a good 15 pounds of flab left over from my pregnancy. I would love to be able to have weight loss buddies. So far the best thing I have done is not drink so much soda.

Hi everyone- I am joining you on the weight loss project. I need to lose about 50 lbs. I was following the Paleo diet earlier this year and lost 12 lbs. We went on vacation in July and I never got back on track after that. My main problems are stress eating and sugar. I am slowly getting off the sugar again by eating lots of fruit.
I walk my dog almost everyday for about 45 minutes first thing in the morning before I have time to procrastinate about it. I try to move around as much as possible at home.Other ways to get some walking in is to park your car as far away from the store, etc. as you can and take the stairs instead of elevators. If you have trouble walking you can go to Walmart or Target & take a carriage for support & walk around the store a few times. Also- note to self-Stop buying dark chocolate M&M's ! |

Yes that can be a huge calorie saver. I have never liked regular pop and always drank diet, but I have read that it actually increases one's appetite. I only drank it once in awhile, but in the last month I started buying diet coke/pepsi and kept it in the house and I have noticed my appetite has increased.......after I'm done this case no more diet pop in the house!

Wow... busy day on the boards today!
How is everyone doing? I got in contact with my p-doc about phentermine. Not surprisingly, he was not a fan of that idea. Because I don't want to do anything behind his back, I'll cancel my appointment with the weight loss clinic. *sigh* In other news, I've been trying hard to exercise more. I have a mini stair stepper, and I try to use it for 30 minutes every morning. So far, I've been pretty spotty about it... only 3-4 days last week, but I can do better this week, right? The goal is five days. How is everyone else coming along?
