Help
I cant stop eating what I am not suppose to be eating. I dont know if its my meds or my mind. I eat too much at meal times. It's like I am trying to fill this huge hole in my stomach. I need to walk or something, but my anxiety wont let me. I am afraid that something will happen to me if I do. Like have a heart attack and drop dead blocks away from my home. I have gained 27lbs from December to date. It's depressing me to the point I want to die even more. I have to do something. I'm in trouble. My clothes are starting not to fit. They once were too big and now too small. I wish I could convince my mind to stop but I can't. Every time I try to stop, I start off good then end up eating all that I see. Even sneaking and having a fast food meal before I get home and still I eat again. OMG, I am going to die from over eating. I'm killing myself with food. I am running out of time.

Olanza honey I know how you feel. I also am guilty of eating my emotions!!! it's like I eat to comfort myself cause no one else can.
I started walking and that made me feel less like eating. Keeping my mind busy also helps. If you are worried about health issues see your doc. Talk to him about this get the ok to start a healthy exercise program. I found that when I exercised I feel physically and mentally better. It takes awhile so don't give up. I am here if you need me we can support each other!!!!

The more I try to stop the worse it gets. I have eaten til I got sick. I shared with a friend today that I needed help with exercise and eating problems. She said she would walk with me to help with anxiety. I wont see cardio doc until april 20 and you are probably right, I should see what exercises would safe for me. I had a horrible morning. I ate a bologna sandwich this morning, then a few mini donuts, a bag of sour cream chips before going to work. When I got to work I went to the vending machine and got a little debbies honey bun and a chocolate milk. A co-worker brought in pumpkin role, and I hate at least 4 slices. SOmething is wrong with me.
I appreciate your help ((Baseline)), I really do. I don't think I handle to much more. Mental and physical stress is getting the best of me. I am open to any suggestions you have.

There's gotta be an on and off switch....how do you turn this thing off? What in the hell turned it on, if I can figure that out, then perhaps I can turn it off. I can't afford new clothes or shoes, feet swollen really bad. I tried discipline, buying healthy snacks (it cost too much) and eating from a smaller plate. My last visit to doc, said my blood pressure was 185/74 and my BMI was 38.8%. I am obese. People wont tell me the truth, everyone says I look fine, that it doesn't look like I have gained that much weight, I know they are fibbing, but what I don't know is why do they lie to me. My mixed emotions/personality probably has something to do with it I'm sure.

I started my morning with a cup of coffee, 2 slices of toast with light butter and jelly, small banana and apple juice. I know, I needed some protein as well. I am hungry as heck. I am at work and praying that I don't go to vending machine. I have left money at home, but that doesn't mean I can't borrow a buck or two.

You definitely need some protein!! What works best for me is cottage cheese. Or some plain yogurt with protein powder mixed in. Also I take unsalted, dry roasted peanuts to work with me to snack on when I feel hungry. They have a lot of calories but a small amount is much more satisfying than sugar or plain carbs. almonds are even better but they tend to be expensive.
Thanks for this!

Also for some people caffeine can affect blood sugar making you feel hungry. A little coffee is probably no too bad but if you have more during the day or diet sodas they might cause cravings.
Thanks for this!

I have one cup of strong coffee, don't drink soda at all, I do drink iced-tea tho.
What should I eat from vending machine? I've tried the green tab items (green for healthier snack) but I still want to nibble?

I appreciate your assistance.

thank you for sharing this with me. Amazon shared a lot of info from this book and that makes me happy because I cant afford to buy it at this time.I am currently 110lbs over weight. That includes the 20+ lbs I gained this winter. I think my meds also play a big role in my eating habits. I have never been this out of control. I usually dont eat when I am depressed, but now it's a hundred calories for every tear drop. I wish they would put me back on seroquel. I'd rather sleep than eat.

That book is the only thing that makes sense to me. Do a google search (or better yet, a youtube search) on Intuitive Eating.

The idea is to accept your body, learn to stop putting it down and learn to have a healthy relationship with food.

There is no such thing as "bad foods" but it teaches you to be mindful of whether or not you are hungry, and to learn to listen to your body's hunger cues to know when to start or stop eating.

The idea being, that you learn to find alternate coping mechanisms for when you eat emotionally, whether it be boredom, depression anxiety, whatever.

Eventually the crappy food, not being forbidden starts to lose its appeal, and your body will reach its own intended weight.

Check if your local library has it. Or maybe ebay has it cheap. it's very interesting.

Olanza, first be proud you recognized the problem. I am an emotional eater I do stuff my feelings. what I'm trying to do is see if i am eating out of hunger or emotion. Keep a food diary and emotional journal. I have been using my fitness pal it is a free downloadable app with great dieting advice and recipes. My kids helped me do it cause I am technologically disabled!!! I pack for work ahead of time. I am a snacker too so I pack cut fruit and veggies and yogurt, healthy snack bars. I also upped my water intake that really does help even though i have to peee so often!!!!haha Thanks for starting this thread. I am learning from it too!!!I am here for you! Also if you can start some light exercise you won't want to eat and ruin the good the exercise is doing!!!! I HAVE SARTED WaLKING AGAIN. Dam, i'm sore but it feels good. Wish I could be your walking buddy!!! Take care and be strong! You got this Olanza.

i have fallen into a bottomless pit filled with twinkies and candy bars and other poisonous foods..... I ate a salad for dinner, walked away, kept telling myself I was full because it was a rather large salad, only to find myself 20 mins later scavaging for something else. My appetite is un real. I know its depression, perhaps once I get my emotions under control I can take control of my diet. I see my pdoc on Monday and I will share with him the horrific time I am having with food. The bad part? I feel horrible, absolutely horrible after eating it. I want to stick my finger down my throat and bring it all back up, and I probably would if I didn't get a nose bleed and headache after....there is a silver linning after all. I have tried a little dancing in the house when I am alone, and water does help, but when I lay down it sounds like there is an ocean in my stomach.

You guys are great and I wish you all much success with your eating habbits, weight loss, and exercise.

You gotta start eating clean! My basic diet consists of:

Breakfast: oatmeal, greek yogurt, walnuts, and sugar-free maple syrup; and coffee
Lunch: canned chicken or tuna, store bought guacamole, a big handful of prewashed baby kale or spinach, all in a tortilla wrap
Dinner: big bowl of cooked veg with (not too much!) shredded cheese melted on top
Snack: fruit, whatever.

If you at least can start eating better, you will start feeling better. Focus on getting protein and veg at most meals, or dairy, then add a carb.
Thanks for this!

Sounds good, I need to go out and do a little grocery shopping, I got bag salad, but the other foods in my fridge should be off limits other than milk, eggs and cheese. I will try again on Monday, see if I can't have at least one good day.

salad is healthy, but its not going to fill you up for real. i consider it a side, not a main.
Thanks for this!
