Um. I meant to say, also, thanks for being supportive - it's actually really nice that somebody thinks that I might discover that I am not a weird alien thing

Hum de dum... it's quiet here. I hope it's not because I am unpleasantly miserable. Here's something funny from my neck of the woods:
What to do what to do - Scandinavia and the World
(Scandinavia and the World is one of my favourite webcomics. It's very often spot on.)

Hi Mast, I think it's just quiet and nothing to do with you. I also think that you might not find that you are as strange as you think if you were to talk to another women (depending on which woman you chose to speak to). From reading, you and Stopdog seem to have similar takes on relationships, for instance. Your ideas about relationships are not what I would want for myself (and I'm sure you feel the same way when I talk about what I want), but that doesn't mean I think of you as alien somehow.

Actually, I don't know what I would want. I know what I have. I have no experience of anything else, and I never will have. So what's the point of discussing it, for me? (Not talking about discussing in general.) I have a modus vivendi that keeps me alive, and that's the best I can ask for.

On an unrelated note, my young dog is lying by the front windows, looking out at the storm and groaning over and over -- just like a little kid. She is so adorable.

I bought a Kirby a year ago and I was elated. Truly elated!!

I've owned a Dyson but for pet hair and litter dust, the Kirby wins.

As I'm trying to prep for Passover tomorrow, there was a hate crime in a nearby city where many people I love live. They are not releasing the names of the dead yet. I have called everyone I know and even emailed my T. I feel like a paranoid person, but couldn't let go of the anxiety until I heard from everyone. Feeling drained and wiped out right now. Trying to get back to cooking and I cannot.

I read about that and thought how awful it was. I'm sorry to learn it is also touching you so personally.

i plan to stay up most of the night.... I dont want to miss the opportunity of freedom....although sleeping in the middle of the bed with the windows open and the shades up and waking to birds and sunrise has been absolutely wonderful too... I can still do that with only 4 hours of sleep...

You are paying attention to this feeling right? And what it says about you and your relationship? Maybe write it down in a journal somewhere so you can pull it out and look at it when he is being horrible again and you are wondering if you would be better off without him? [I am the world's worst hinter, am I not?]

I watch Futurama with my son, love it. So weird and funny. I thought I was the only "adult" who liked it.

Beautiful weekend. Spring is FINALLY here. I actually got a bit of a sunburn yesterday afternoon. Hurts so good.

I am off with my d this morning...then dentist.

Have a happy & sunny one!

From everything you have said, in my State at least, you would end up with primary residential custody, and he would have to pay you child support. You might have to pay him a bit of maintenance, but that might be balanced out by the child support he would owe you. In our State, you would get an adjustment for private school tuition as well. Have you consulted with a good divorce attorney about this? I recognize every State is different, but it seems unlikely that it would THAT different. My brother and sister in law are attorneys in your State, but they do corporate law. I could ask them for a referral to good a divorce attorney who could at least give you a consultation.

I keep trying to write a post about my feelings around Passover this year and my computer keeps eating it. One of the things I was amazed at when I went to my first Seder was the emphasis on the lack of hatred toward those who kept the Jewish people slaves. As part of the ceremony, wine is poured out to express how the Jews' joy at their freedom is diminished by sorrow at the horrors suffered by the Egyptians as a result of the plagues. I thought that was amazing and wonderful and showed a generosity of spirit toward the oppressors that was so new to me at that time.

Now, in the aftermath of the shooting, the emphasis here has been on support and trying to get the public service parts of the Jewish Community Center back up and running. There is a food pantry there that serves the entire community, as well as housing the offices for several other community support organizations. I just think that speaks volumes about the souls of of the people involved. There is no angry lashing out at the 'others' who have done this to them. There is sorrow, mutual support and an attitude of just getting back on with the work that needs to be done in the community. The people here have been reminding each other about the Jewish laws about trying to repair the world and not cause further destruction.

It is just so horrible to me that a community like this, so generous and kind and trying to do good in the world, is subject to so much misunderstanding and hatred. In particular, targeting these two places -- the community center which is focused on doing good in the world and helping the less fortunate in the community, regardless of their race, ethnicity or religion, and the retirement home where the some of the most vulnerable in our community are housed, is just so, so horrible.

I need to focus on the good that I see in the aftermath and not on the horrors that so clearly exist in this world. I have trouble doing that sometimes.
