Ok wise couch friends... Why is it so common for people to push away/not let in those people who are the ones who love and truly care?

Cuz it's scary. Especially when history has taught you that people who say they love and care for you don't really mean it when the chips are down. Or when they say 'love and care', but what they really mean is 'control and abuse'.

I've got too many fair weather lovers and carers in my past.

I second Shakey on that one.

Is texting the other parent who holds the money for back to school stuff be considered passive aggressive? I need to know about the money and when it is available.

No it seems non-confrontational and should a disagreement arise, oops my battery must've gone dead!

Since I'm possibly the most passive aggressive person on the planet, I would more than likely pack her rattiest play clothes for an overnight, then make a few sarcastic comments about the state of her clothes in comparison to the state of my bank account, which has more holes, etc. Oh, and always throw in a comment about how nice his clothes look and how it must be nice to shop whenever the urge strikes and not have to wait for a windfall.

How embarrassing to admit! That being direct was too scary so I would choose to talk to people that way instead. (One of many things I'm working on with T.)

I thought so. Is the benefit less anxiety as opposed to a greater anxiety with using the phone. I have auditory processing disorder which complicates phone conversations. Plus he mumbles etc..you get the idea

There's a group of food places called 'Lentil as Anything' in Melbourne. Great vegetarian food and pay-what-you-think-it's-worth system.

I think that's right. There have been a few close calls in recent years around whether they could continue on. But they've overcome those issues. The best one is at the Abbotsford Convent, they do great food and train a lot of young refugees (I think). Worth a visit, with the Children's Farm and river next door.

No, but I did work for numerous youth hostels and guesthouses in my formative years. It's funny that it still shows through

Hey, ladies who have gone through menopause, was the night sweating thing accompanied by nightmares? Or you just woke up hot? Trying to decide if the nightmares, drenched in sweat thing is related to hormones or just the stuff I am working on in therapy.

I'm right in the middle of it. I suspect it is just hormones in my case. I just started trying Black Kohosh to see if it relieves the temperature regulation thing. I haven't had nightmares along with it. Could be you are having a bit of both concurrently.

MKAC, not there myself yet, but my friend has exactly the same. I think it works that a rise in body temperature indicates to your brain that something panic worthy is happening...so you panic! Which raises anxiety, fires adrenalin, gives you a freakin nightmare! Something like that.
Thanks for this!

Hey. How's it going?

I have one goal for the day... clean off the dining room table.

Any kind of fever is likely to give you nightmares.

I get night sweats and I get nightmares, but I can have either without the other. For me, they do not seem connected.

Start back with chorus rehearsals tonight. Leonard Bernstein's "Kaddish" and Mahler's 3rd. Don't think I'm going to be humming the "Kaddish" in the shower. It's a monster of a piece and really odd. And in Yiddish (that's a first for all of us I think).

Having fun at school though. Students are presenting their novel analyses. I haven't laughed so hard at an analysis of Old Man and the Sea ever I don't believe. Some of my students are hilarious. I actually had two different boys who chose OMaS as their novel, so they did their presentations back to back. One was like a stand up comedy routine; the other was serious and insightful. Between the two, they actually taught us all quite a bit.

Ugh. Finally told T about some aspects of the CSA I thought I would never tell and the flashbacks have been horrendous. I emailed him stuff I remembered and now I cannot stand the thought of seeing T again. Feeling sick. Drinking too much to avoid thinking. I just cannot handle the thought of going in there tomorrow.
