Does anyone have any advice on how to find a support group in my area for dissociation? I'm not sure what one would be called or how to go about locating one.

Thanks! And that's what my T texted me when I said something about my 40th birthday today (in the midst of stuff about MC). She even used a couple emoticons, including a flower, which threw me, because I've never seen her use those.
Thanks for this!

Morning, couch.

Well, I actually fell asleep fairly quickly last night and slept through the night. I took a Benedryl as pdoc suggested, so maybe that was it. I am just not so sure if I want to result to that every night. I'm not sure how safe that would be. I had to laugh before I took it though...the box said under warnings that it should not be used to make a child sleepy. Lol, and here I was an adult taking it to make me sleep.

I am in my small little room now, but it feels different. I feel so relaxed despite my paranoid thoughts still racing. Maybe it was getting a full night's sleep? Or maybe it's the start of yesterday's injection beginning to take effect. Maybe the paranoia will stop soon.

I'm sorry you had a difficult session yesterday, are you ok?
You don't have to tell everything at once. Even just making a comment about how his life seems perfect, without going into how it makes you feel, could help.

Thanks for asking. Doing better today after talking to marriage counselor on the phone for a bit last night (it was the session with him that was difficult) and also to my husband.

My T runs a women's trauma group. Which encompasses all effects of trauma including dissociation. Can you search for a trauma group in your location??

If you feel comfortable...what do you get paranoid about typically?

My T gave me a book he ordered called dealing with paranoid and suspicious thoughts. It was CBT oriented. Anyway I've found it really helpful for my paranoia

I am usually paranoid about losing my job(s), my landlord kicking me out and ending up homeless, my mom getting the short end of the stick in her divorce and ending up homeless, people pulling a gun on me when I am driving, etc.

I hate my thoughts.

Squirrel -- apologies if I'm mis-stepping here but a lot of what you've listed are serious, genuine concerns from difficulties you're currently dealing with (I mean I have no idea what I'd do if I were dealing with all that you're going through).

Is the paranoia diagnosis then based on some level of functioning that you're unable to achieve because these concerns are taking over your mental resources?
Thanks for this!

Hi there. Trying to not fall asleep at my desk. I've been having a hard time staying awake lately even though I've been getting enough sleep. That's all I've been wanting to do lately. Hope everyone is doing well!

I was thinking the same--that it sounds a lot like my generalized anxiety disorder (with bonus panic disorder and OCD).

Well, that's something. Enjoy and have fun! (and don't worry too much about MC. Glad he called you yesterday and that it made you feel better)

I'm feeling like a child right now... Anyone under 25? *looks around worried*

I have fears like that too squirrel. I think they are mostly reality based though which is good. I mean, paranoia can go to extreme levels. Like, I tore my apartment apart looking for cameras my neighbor put in there, accused my pdoc and T of poisoning me, thought there was a group of people following and harassing me, etc. So I think you're on the mild end of the spectrum. But I know it can escalate if not taken care of. Best of luck, hope your meds even you out. Paranoia sucks and is debilitating..
