Couch 238: Appreciating Small Progress Couch

Well, I figure I will give it a shot. Because what I'm doing, is not working! EEK! But I am stressed about it. Maybe talking it over first would be a good idea.

And then I find out that her car accident happened last week. So why she felt the need to tell me at 11 o'clock PM last night, as if it had just happened, is beyond me. Like why did she not know our session would be disrupted by her car situation? She is so random. I love her but she is super random.

I am confused by dishes that are potatoes in some form on sandwiches (bread) -is it some carb thing -like your carbs are too low and you are trying to get them up? I am not a huge fan of potatoes or bread in general but I do like a good sandwich - but potato sandwiches are just a bag of bland.

I also agree that some people wait far too long before they try to get help. Globally, apparently 70% of people with diagnosable psychiatric conditions don't seek help.

Have you made sweet potato avocado toast? That seems weird to me. What kind of super watt toaster do you need to cook a freakin sweet potato? My toaster would definitely catch on fire before the darn spud softened, let alone browned.

OTOH, i could eat a french fry anytime, anyplace, anyhow! And inside a mcdonalds fishwich sounds soooo good right now!

I have made sandwich type dishes with thin sliced sweet potato. I used my toaster oven, cooked the sliced potato first then toasted, and added the topping. But I did NOT put the sweet potato on bread to eat.

In my session with my T, I said that moving to be with my fiancé isn't working out.

I can only control what I do or don't do, and no amount of work on my end can complete the work on his side. We reviewed what I've tried already because T doesn't know all of it.

I've plans, been mulling over them for a while. I'm glad she understands that I'm not sitting around being lazy. I literally have been rejected from really simple jobs, and my occupational therapist says cognitive remediation won't help my brain problems, because they're dissociative in nature.

She also knows what kinds of work I've attempted, and I've noticed what I struggle with. She can help me with some of those problems, and I've clearer views of what my strengths and weakness are.

It's not that I didn't want to work. I'm in a double bind situation, whether or not my fiancé believes he's coercive.

This week with low anxiety (because I was able to email my T about the last few weeks) has been so weird. lol.

Scarface again tonight. My last t kinda looked like him, so there's that. Every once in a while Al's face or pose is pure t.

We didn't really have time to talk about it but she did help with some of the shame that flooded me.

She also said we can't do trauma processing around the triggering phrase (or any trauma processing, really) until I'm out of survival mode. That's despite how I'm honestly am dealing with flashbacks and nightmares, plus dissociating a lot.

Hi friends.

I have that meeting this afternoon with T, and me and my parents. I kind of have a "cold" anxiety about it. To explain better: it's like a lamb being led to slaughter, like I'm terrified of it, but I am very calm. I hope it goes well. I talked to my sister about it. She was like it will probably be good for everyone to be on the same page. Yeah....I guess. I don't know.

Former T talked about talking with my parents at one point but we never did it.

It's also weird because I have never met T in person so just a lot of new stuff today.

At least I have some tasks to do at work that should take up some time. That will help with the worry.

Wearing a new Rams shirt today. I wanted something happy and I was like, I'll wear my new shirt!!

Yeah, this kind of thing seems like a bit of a red flag. I have taken my wife to two sessions. She is super supportive and we are very close and open with each other and my T and I still had a long conversation and how I felt about it and what I wanted to get from it. (It was also my idea to bring her in.) My T was clear that she wouldn't share anything with my wife unless I mentioned it first. This seems a bit rushed and with her other randomness, I'd be a little concerned. She seems very caring but I am worried that her lack of boundaries is going to end up hurting you.

I'm so nervous! I see the new PCP today. H is coming with. I already know the receptionist is a *****. I hope the doctor is nice and my diagnoses don't freak him out. I didn't put down I have BPD. I figure that's a "need to know" thing, and he doesn't need to know. I don't want to be judged.

I hope it goes well, Scarlet! I agree that he wouldn't need to know about the BPD.

Just fair warning, I've learned recently that a lot of places use the same medical records system and can see your info whether you realize it or not. The urgent care place I went to before the ER knew my medical conditions and previous meds when I hadn't filled out a medical history form and I had never been to this particular "brand" of clinic before. I asked how they knew and they told me.

I just made some air fryer dog treats for my therapist's dog because she's been a little sick lately. I hope he doesn't think I'm a weirdo.
