Good morning, about to go to group. It's a cold rainy day, then it's supposed to snow 5-10 inches tomorrow

Well I'm not drooling on myself so I guess the increase in Seroquel will be okay. Now the splitting of my Zyprexa into AM & PM isn't easy...I'm feeling a bit sedated since I took the AM dose

im so confused.

im doing well in school and i want to continue - yes.
...but my interests vary so much and i have a lot of passions.
what im trying to say is if I keep going in school I will eventually have to choose a major. I have no idea what I want to do. at all. ive been in college for maybe 5 years. even tho despite being still a freshman - after being in college this long i still dont know what i would want to major in. i have this passion for filmmaking but idk...i also have a passion for changing the world with my words and actions alone.

i dont even know what kind of career i would ever go into...IF I EVER go into one. i mean i dont even have a dream career. when i was in high school my dream career was to be a director but then its almost done a 180 after all the psychosis ive went through and things ive experience in the mental health system. i want to help people in the system but im not wanting to go get a degree any where near psychology.

i dont understand what im supposed to do with my education. or what i want to do.

i kinda need some advice. if anyone is willing to or has some to give...

Hi Newtus. Degrees in the humanities are very flexible and are designed to give you a good foundation so you can pursue a range of interests afterwards. They help you develop as a person, raise your awareness of social values and train you to analyze complex problems. If you were interested in media studies most BAs would have room for you to take several courses in that and still stay on track with your major. You could even minor in media studies if you wanted.

I was given the standard test with over 100 quastions to determine anxiety, paranoia, etc..

It came back as invalid because it was so different from everyone else that has done this test since the 60's

He has two more to try. Himopfully they can figure out my mental confusion.

My eating healthy is going well. Lost a little more weight. Managing not to snack during the day but it's hard. I'm used to grazing so sticking to two meals a day isn't easy but it seems to be working. Getting closer to my first goal weight.

Shadow someone in a few different careers and see what they do on a day to day basis----some jobs seem cool when you see the big picture but aren't as cool on the day to day which is what you have to live.

Take a career test and see what you actually like-------and it never hurts to ask---they might not be willing to let you shadow but they might be able to connect you to another resource or person....

History, philosophy and literature are the big three but theres quite a range such as art history, archaeology, communication, languages, politics and social studies the last is usually something specific like gender studies or a specific culture like Latin America studies. The first three are slightly more valued when comparing arts degrees because in most programmes they require the most work in terms of reading and writing.

Your college or uni will have an academic advisor who can help you with this and they will also know the various workloads of each major. Your college or uni may also have unique degrees that appeal to you more. My first degree required even amounts of history, philosophy, literature and languauges and was designed as a pre-law degree even though no law classes were required it simply developed the skills needed for law school.

I only stayed at group for an hour and a half, it's hard for me to stay there for 3 straight hours, but at least I went.

On day 3 of eating healthier, so far so good.

Since I have all my assignments done, I basically have all this week and next week off from school before I start my next 2 classes, Intro to American History and Psychology 101. Really looking forward to the psychology class

Just sitting here waiting on UPS, the necklace I ordered should be here today.

I bought the movie Gone Girl yesterday on Amazon Instant Video, I am not all of the way through it yet, but I've read the book before and it was great.

What kind of necklace did you get? Do you have a link?

I'm glad you're sticking with your eating plan I find it very difficult myself....drinking tea instead of snacks helps a lot I think....

Hey Neil as more of a hard sciences type I'm wondering if there are jobs for people with a bachelors in those fields or if you need an advanced degree or at least a teaching certificate....

Just got back from my psychiatrist. He doesn't believe me that I don't have progressing schizophrenia. I walked out with a booklet on schizophrenia. He knew about my paranoia because the nurses told him.

I guess I should give up on increasing the Concerta. They might even stop prescribing idk.

I'm on 200mg seroquel now because the abilify was decreased to 10mg

I'm not freakig out. Why? Because I have schizotypal disorder which can be easily get confused for schizophrenia.

If I get my concerta taken away, my dependent OCD wired brain will go insane. Maybe that's what they want but that's an irrational thought. I see them as less irrational when i was in the mental state I was in last night

My old psychiatrist wants me on injectable abilify because I'm not med compliant. I agree because I don't trust me either

Return to Tiffany® mini double heart tag pendant in silver with enamel finish. | Tiffany & Co.

I don't have any nice jewelry so I thought I'd get myself something nice for doing well in school

Yes i should have mentioned that teaching at primary and secondary schools is always an option though that may require another year to get a teaching certificate; it does here in the UK and i cant remember about the US. People with a BA are able to apply for a wide range of jobs in the working world; practically all that arent skill specific and covered by a degree in the sciences. for example someone with a degree in history could still apply for jobs in media, business, government work etc. Apart from technical posts, most job adverts will simply require a degree and wont specify which kind. All the arts degrees are lumped together and its up to you to show how your skill set meets the job's requirements. Thats why it helps to take elective courses in somehting you might want to do like media studies, and also go on work experiences to gain practical knowledge of different fields.

It used to be that someone with a degree would instantly go into a management position within a company but that was only true in the 60s and 70s before the dramatic increase in people gaining degrees. Now even with a degree you will probably still have to enter sub management and work for a promotion to management.
Thanks for this!

Depots are good, don't think I'd be as stable as I am now without it. It's also less hassle than trying to remember to take your meds all the time.

I don't consider schizotypal to be a PD at all.

There are people diagnosed with this who have no psychotic symptoms. Confusing.
Hallucinations and delusions can occur during highly stressful situations with people with schizotypal PD.

Hallucinations and Delusions aren't even required for schizophrenia, just common in most cases.

The problem is that schizotypal can progress to schizophrenia in cases, diagnoses aren't concrete. But you also have to remember that the diagnosis is not you, you aren't going to change as a person if you're diagnosed with schizophrenia.

I know when I was diagnosed I thought the sky was falling, but nothing much changed from my previous diagnosis in terms of treatment or how I acted.

thanks neil and SP.

i slightly worry what would happen getting a degree in something i wont use. well not only am i not good at hard sciences - im also not interested in hard sciences. well as far as the degrees ive seen offered at colleges. im not interested nor am i good. my greatest weakness is math. and then understanding even basic science. i remember doing biology class in high school and we had to learn about DNA and also how people and animals and plants got different DNA from crossing. and i couldnt even figure out the 4 or whatever names of types of DNA. i almost failed that class. i actually might have failed it idk. it was so hard for me. not to mention failing almost every math class ive taken since 5th grade. i apparently didnt know how to divide "correctly". in math classes it was so incredibly hard for me. they were so hard that i would have to make up my own equations to get to the answer. i cant follow multiple steps involving numbers. but anyway sometimes i would get the answer right. but i remember they drilled me all though high school for math. i even took saturday school classes in the summer - 3 to 4 hours a day of straight math. and i still dont get that stuff.

sorry im talking so much.

its just im thinking of taking summer classes. and registration for summer is in April.
so i either take a hard class thats part of the core curriculum during summer or i do an elective. but if i do an elective i need to do something that goes towards a major i want to be in. even if i change my whole mind about school later on or stop school and go back.
BUT if im gonna take an elective towards a major...then...wtf am i majoring in?
even when i get to fall semester im gonna have to choose something.

im sorry...
