Yay Tara! You're doing great! So glad to see you're making progress at last!

I weighed-in this morning: 217.6. So that means i regained 11.6 pounds since last diet. But at least i kept 3.8 off.

It's so hard getting started again. I had diet breakfast and diet lunch but i feel wobbly in my commitment to diet. But my stomach laying down on my lap when i sit says i must.

I had at some point a morbid preoccupation with death row stories and read through "last meals" of actual inmates awaiting death. It was about 10 years ago (gosh, I have lived for so long that things happened that long ago!). So today I remembered my "last meal" and had it:

- whole rye bread (I toasted it)
- Bulgarian feta
- tomato slices

It was yummy. I prefer Bulgarian feta to other feta varieties because it is least salty. I am going to have black cherry tea now, and then begin cooking dinner.

For dinner, I am having a friend over. We will eat:

- bean and chard soup with pecorino romano cheese
- baked salmon with something cooked from frozen (asparagus or broccoli or zucchini wedges)
- green salad with homemade ranch
- brie with green grapes
- tea with lemon bars from Trader Joe's (they are tiny)

Checking in. No food to report but down from two weeks ago at 195 (high of 202) to yesterday at 188. And joining a gym. Going Tuesday morning. I have to lose this weight! Low carb seems to be working!

Thanks wildflower

I only ate Oreos because I didn't want to risk infection! I happened to have the Oreos in my room and I discovered them when I was cleaning, so I ate them. So unhealthy...

It was just food poisoning, though, according to the dr yesterday. So I don't have to worry about infection anymore. Thank god! I very seriously WASN'T going to eat anything in the kitchen. I was sooo scared of throwing up blood!

Lol yes my name is Tara.

I drank last night but stayed under my carbs and only gained on pound! That will come off as I flush the water weight out. Proud of myself for staying on track!

Well, in case anyone is interested. I gave it a go. I found all the information I needed online, for free, to do the current 'Simply Filling' plan. This plan encourages 'whole foods' and minimal tracking.

I call total BS. It was still a very low calorie plan. My total calories for the day after stuffing myself with the unlimited veg and fruit allowed, plus the allotted amount of grains and protein came to less than 1400. Uh, no. Unless I wanted to have more fruit and veg or a piece of lean protein, or yet another cup of tea with non-fat milk and artificial sweetner, or no sugar, I could have some chemically sweetened yogurt of jello.

I could not sleep that night for the hunger and the effects of the artificial sweetner. Sure I'd lose weight, but I'd also lose muscle and my energy and my mind. And who could sustain this?

No doubt the regain rates with Weight Watchers are quite high. And no doubt most people blame themselves instead of a plan designed for quick unsustainable weight loss.

No thanks...moving on to something smarter.

Our weight gain is because after our nightly 12 pack... the Littles want to chow down on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and crackers.

We are really really wanting to NOT tonight.

I tried Dr Bersteins and lost a lot of weight in a very short time, but it is not sustainable, and yes, you do gain it back...and blame yourself.

Breakfast: Oatmeal and a slice of ham
Lunch: Finger food--summer sausage, cheese, mustard on a butter cracker (4 of those)
Snack: Cheese stick and ¼ cup cashews
Dinner: Sirloin and Mushrooms in Beef Dijon Sauce, and probably mixed veggies.

Blood sugar seems to be back to normal.

Half a bowl of oatmeal with agave nectar and soymilk
Two veggie dogs (no bun) and mustard
Three strawberries
Four grapes
Small bowl of garlic soup
Handful of popcorn

Total calorie count (roughly): 474

I resisted cupcakes today. Pretty proud of myself.

Gym later.

I also drank a ton of water. I'm trying to make myself like like it. It seriously makes me gag.

474 calories is starvation mode the body shuts down and uses only those calories to survive. you don't lose weight eating this few of calories.
You need at least 1,000 calories. 20 grams of protein at each meal.
20% fat...sorry I said I would not say anything else. I just think you are misinformed about the number of calories that you need to be healthy and lose weight.

Sunday: oats, berries, sunflower seeds, chia, yogurt and maple syrup for breakfast. Banana for lunch and two pieces of grilled fish with a handful of chips for dinner. Missed out on veggies, will try to eat some today. In the last two weeks I put on 2kg (~4.5 pounds). Hoping it is muscle. Stopped Abilify just in case it was that and my hypomania and agitation have subsided anyway.

I usually don't have anything for breakfast so this is some thing new for me using a magic bullet.
pea protein powder, greens powder blend, raw spinach and almond milk.
25 grams of protein and 5 net carbs for the smoothie. It will probably taste awful! lol may use some stevia if it needs it.

Got everything done except for charting. I am about a month behind.
jeff cooked dinner tonight. stir fry chicken and spinach sauce with chunks of white cheese. an indian simmering sauce, forget what it is called. It was delicious! Cauliflower with cheese. All low carb.

I have a mammo and bone density test coming up.
For some reason for the past 4 years since I fell and broke my collar bone, then they determined that I was borderline osteopenia.
Remember when I was hypomanic and obsessing about dieting and losing weight and was down to 122 pounds? rapid weight loss can contribute to bone loss.
Anyway that is when they checked my vit d status and was discovered that I was low.
So I started taking vit d 5,000 units a day and 500mg a day of calcium.
But I don't drink milk. so for the past 4 years I have not been taking the recommended alotment of calcium.
Also I was taking magnesium oxide for constipation which is not the correct form needed for calcium absorption. so should have been taking magnesium with it. I have not.
The calcium magnesium needs to be in a 2:1 ratio. 500mg/250mg
My new doctor said to wait to take the supplemental mag until I have the bone density test done. And see the results and go from there.
I bet it will be fine as I have gained weight and heavier people don't have as much risk for osteoporosis because of their extra weight.

I am losing weight slowly now...snail pace so that should not be an issue.
bizi
I told you my hot flashes were gone thank goodness. but my period returned yesterday, had been 4 months with out. I thought I was done with that.
oh joy....
not!

Thankfully today, my second day of dieting, has gone much better. Yesterday i had a couple attacks of diarrhea -- so sickening. Sorry if that's TMI. But today i've been stable and managing my hunger well so i feel more optimistic about the whole thing.

Raspberrytorte, you're not eating enough. 1200 calories is the minimum and you're no where near that. Do you have anorexia? If not i think you're headed for it. I think it would be good for you to get some counselling.

Biz I I'd be passed out after two bottles of wine lol. I hope you sleep too.

Didn't eat much yesterday because I was hungover. I did manage to make dinner though, a nice big casserole so I have meals for the week in case I don't feel like cooking one night.

I'm home from work today with my son who woke up and promptly vomited everywhere. I'm hoping I will not catch this stomach virus! I hate being nauseous. It's the worst feeling.

Sweet jesus I ate soooo much yesterday, and I somehow managed to lose weight. (Me thinks it's water weight.)

420 cals worth of oreos
280 cals worth of sunflower seeds
700 cals worth of waffles
400 cals worth of mac&cheese
400 cals worth of gummy worms

2200 cals, and ALL carbs. what the ****. I hate you, Seroquel!

Today is a new day. Ate a bagel for breakfast and drank water to suppress appetite. For snack, I'm thinking about the Jell-O I made. For lunch, Protein PLUS pasta with red sauce. For afternoon "snack", Protein shake!
