Welcome *Rose*! Sorry to hear you are suffering with FMS and CFS but I'm glad you are here with us.

I haven't been dx'ed with CFS but I've been wondering for awhile now if that's what I have. There are days when I can do nothing and just want to sleep. Then there are days when I have to drag myself to do things. I get them done okay, it's just takes a real effort to do things. Not sure if it's depression or CFS really. Could be either I suppose.

I have horrible problems with heat. I have for years now. My body heats up very quickly and I'll sweat like a stuffed pig over a spit doing very little.

Then, when it's hot outside or even in the house during the winter, my body doesn't like it too much and I can become very uncoordinated, my mind doesn't work too quickly and my memory is in the pits. It's different from foggy brain, it's downright no brain.

I am definitely a winter and not a summer.

What does the heat do to you *Rose*?

Well, since being symptomatic from fibro has only come up recently, I haven't even seen a doctor about it. I guess I thought maybe lightheadedness could be sort of related to the fibro, but do you really think this could be a separate problem? Maybe I should talk to my doctor about it when I see him next week for another issue. Thanks for mentioning this to me.
Thanks for this!

I think anything is possible for the lightheadedness. Do you have high blood pressure? Maybe it's undiagnosed? Definitely worth talking to your doc about it! Better safe than sorry, no?

I've come to the conclusion that my lightheadedness came from the infection I had. I found out I came very close to possibly being admitted to the hospital for intravenous antibiotics and whatever else they wanted to do for the skin lesions. As soon as the infection started clearing up, I lost the lightheadedness.

Fibro doing better today, not as much pain. Weather cleared so that was helpful. Cold as can be out though....brrrrrrrr. I actually accomplished a couple of things today, so that was good. We'll see what tomorrow brings!
Thanks for this!

I don't think I have high blood pressure, but this is definitely worth mentioning to my doctor next week since it's obviously not normal. Not that I want to have high blood pressure, but that would be great if some blood pressure medication solved the problem.

Glad you're feeling less pain today, sabby.

Today I've got the lightheadedness again since if jog/walked this a.m. I guess I'm just a glutton for punishment (or maybe foolish for doing something that causes me lighheadedness and distress).

Rose, there is so much overlap in symptoms that some docs think the fibro and CFS are on a spectrum.

Like you I have been diagnosed with both. I wish I had some words of wisdom about how to cope with the exhaustion. There are times I have to drag myself to work in the morning, come home, shovel food in my face and head to bed.

Hi Rose, when I'm in a flare the fatigue is really bad and there's nothing I can do about it besides just sit in a chair and read or watch t.v. On flare days, I usually end up going up to bed sometimes around 6 p.m. because I'm just too exhausted to even sit in a chair and watch t.v. with my husband. It's very frustrating, isn't it?

Fortunately no flare for me today, but tomorrow I'll be adding a 30 second jog spurt to my jog/walking routine and hoping it doesn't cause a flare. Because it makes me feel so good while I'm doing it though, I guess it's a risk I'm willing to take - - for now at least .
Thanks for this!

Went ahead and added another 30 seconds of jogging to my jog/walking this morning. Initially this morning I wasn't going to do it because I felt I just wasn't up for a flare this weekend. But after I got going for a while, I decided to go for it. Now it's fingers crossed that I won't flare.

For those of you flaring today, hang in there. This, too, shall pass for you (I hope).

Hi Rose. I have CFS/FMS & I also have a terrible problem with lethargy. I take Cymbalta 60 mg for the FMS pain (it helps me a LOT.) When I first started taking it, it helped with the lethargy as well but that effect wore off.

SAM-e also helped with the lethargy, but not always. It was like the batches didn't have good quality control or something. It's been a while since I've tried that and I'd like to try it again.

A schedule seems to help me some with lethargy. I don't have much of one right now, but I've noticed in the past when I have activities scheduled at a reasonable interval for my health that I end up doing more. I suppose that's a bit like using habit to do an end run around the lethargy.

I have a separate diagnosis of major depression, too, and when I get new meds that help that, the lethargy gets better, too. I find it really difficult sometimes to tell the difference between the effects of the FMS and the depression.

Walking helps me a bit, too, but of course you have to get out there to do it in the first place.

Effective psychotherapy seems to help some, too.

In summary, I am not handling my lethargy very well at the moment and haven't been for months. My spirit animal is the sloth.

So far no flare as a result of adding the 30 seconds jogging to my jog/walking. If it hasn't happened by now, it probably won' happen so I consider myself fortunate and am very happy about it.

Gentle hugs to those of you flaring today.

How's everyone doing with their fibro today? I consider myself lucky to not be flaring. Just really psyched that I was able to increase the jog portion of my walk/jogging by 30 seconds. Maybe there's hope for me yet in getting my running mileage up there. I know I'm lucky to be able to do any jogging at all and hope I don't make others feel bad or resentful when I post about it?

Jo, I also have a diagnosis of major depression. My pdoc made a very helpful comment to me. He reminded me that depression can be part of fibro. As a result I was able to tell myself to ride it out. Winter months are especially hard for me shorter days and ever changing weather are killers for me. It helps me ride out the bad days by reminding myself of what he said. I also bought a natural light floorlamp. I sit under it for awhile each night. It seems to be helping.

So glad you are not getting any flare from your increased jogging! Great News!

It doesn't bother me at all that you are posting about this. I'm really happy for you and it gives me hope that I can do what I have to do over the next few weeks.

My roommate and I are going to be moving and it's going to be difficult physically but oh so wonderful emotionally! I know we're going to do some suffering because of the packing and all, but it's not something we can let slide, it has to be done. We'll get through it....we always do.

Onward and upward....for all of us! It's snowing again today and I'm a bit under the weather from that, but I will move myself today and do what needs to be done.

Sabby, could you get someone else to do the actual moving for you? I understand the need to pack your stuff yourself, but could someone else do the lifting and toting?

I'm taking a "recharge my batteries" day today. The last week was a wicked one. It started with getting bitten by a stray cat Sunday night which meant half a day dealing with animal control on Monday.

Monday I had to deal with repeated phone calls from the parent of one of my clients who wanted to yell at me for enforcing consequences on her little darling for not complying with his court orders.

That lead to waking up at 1:45AM Tuesday morning stressed out about having to confront the parent and kid face-to-face Tuesday. Add to that one of my other clients made an emergency visit to meet with me because he needed to talk about his oldest brother being shot over the weekend. Brother is a former client. He was alive, but in bad shape.

I was dealing with ongoing non-stop phone calls with my supervisor and a couple of my court ordered cases all week.

Add to this the weather has changed every day this week, one cold front after another all week. The changes in barometric pressure set off flares for me.

I was so exhausted when I got home Friday night I fell asleep sitting up on the sofa. I would sort of wake up, think I should go to bed and fall right back asleep. I finally toddled off to bed at 3AM when bladder pressure forced me to wake up enough to shuffle to the bathroom.

I'm still exhausted today and I hurt. There are about a million things that need to be done around the house and the farm. (Anyone who has ever lived on a farm knows the work never ends) For once I'm having the sense to let myself take the day and rest. Going to build a fire in the fireplace, read a good book and rest up.

Once again no flare from increasing my jogging by 30 seconds yesterday. Starting to get a little apprehensive about adding another 30 seconds on Friday, especially since my husband and I have plans to visit his relatives out of town on Saturday. A flare, as you all know, would make that really challenging.

I still think I'm going to add the additional 30 seconds on though. If I flare, I don't absolutely have to go. Or, as usual, I can go and tough it out.

Hope the rest of you are managing your pain/flares as best as possible today.

My pain has lessened considerably with the neurontin and naprosyn. Of course, I take the generic brand of both. I still have pain, but I can sit at my desk chair for a little while now and I can sit in my recliner with comfort. What a change! I was able to make it through the grocery yesterday without wanting to burst into tears. What a blessing!

The neurontin has also markedly helped my depression. Of course, that's like which came first, the chicken or the egg. Which came first, the release from the pain or the release from the depression. Who knows? I'm just so grateful it's working.

My niece is going to send a gel cushion to me to put in my desk chair. She works in the medical equipment field and feels it will help me a lot. I am so looking forward to receiving that cushion!
