I have two questions. Can most of you try to answer them? How long do you think it's safe to be on a fast? And how often do you weigh yourself?

I’m not an expert but personally I don’t think you should go past five days on a fast. I’ve never researched it though so I’m not sure.

I only weigh myself once a week because with weight watchers you can only log once a week. I used to weigh every couple of days but if I didn’t see enough change I would get frustrated and binge, so it’s better this way.

I usually weigh every other day in the morning before getting in the shower.

Fasting is always a tricky question. If you are healthy you can go several days before it starts having adverse effects. There are documented cases of weeks even (but they are the exception, not the rule). Part of what's healthy is what you do after - recovering with adequate nutrients.

There are intermittant fasts where you only are able to eat during an 8 hour time frame. This is very easy to do.
I sort of do this naturally. eat lunch at noon then dinner at 6, try to not snack.
but if I do I will pick some thing that has 200 calories or less to snack on like pop corn or a piece of fruit. maybe some nuts.
Just enough so I am not hungry going to bed.
bizi
I weigh every day though they reccomend not doing that.

My daughter’s mother is going to make a streak burrito for me today. She is a good cook. There goes my calorie count for the day. How to add the calories up for a steak burrito?

Had our usual gumbo for lunch and a bowl of cabbage slaw.
Met with a friend around 4 and talked with her and had 2 cups of coffee with milk and ate quite a few nuts....was not sure what they were serving at the party and I did not want to be ravenous.
I Survived another party bringing and drinking hot tea while others drank. I also was very aware of what I was eating. I ate 5oz of chicken and a big helping of salad with a light balsamic dressing, one bite of not so good chocolate brownie. I gave the rest to a friend.
I was social and tried to talk to people there, when the conversation lulled I went and sat next to Jeff. Our friend who hosted the party was celebrating his own birthday.
He and his wife live 2 1/2 hours away from each other. Just found out that she applied for a position here and we are thrilled.
The evening was a success.
I only drank tea, ate healthy, and was social.
All in all we enjoyed the evening.

173.6 this morning. I was 223 and wasn't tracking tenths, just truncating, when I started so this the 50 pound milestone! Goal is to get below 165, which is a little under 9 pounds away.

Another day near goal yesterday.

I hit my calorie allowance for the day yesterday and then my husband brought home donuts, My biggest weakness. I had 2. It has not messed with the numbers on the scale yet, but it probably will in the next few days.

you are amazing uptown!!!!!!!

farries you are doing well too.

I was up 3 pounds today so I did not like that.
Maybe it was all of those nuts I ate yesterday, salty smoked.
I know that I should not weigh every day but can't resist.

I am still at a solid 11 pound weight loss in 2 months.
thanks for your support!

99fairies - Donuts are usually between 200 and 250 so they might not have even put you into a calorie surplus.

I have done a lot of walking today; over 11,000 steps according to my fitness watch.

bizi, Weighing often just makes you aware of the bounces from water weight. If you don't worry so much about the bounces if the trend is right, more data is better IMO. If you only weighed every few days and today was the day, you would think you made no progress or actually went up. Seeing it as a bounce between days, yo know that's not so.

Weighed in today, lost 1.5 pounds! Not as dramatic as my first week but that’s not surprising. On weight watchers you’re really only set up to lose 1-2 pounds per week. Which is what it should be.

I’ve been sick with a mystery virus the past two days and haven’t felt like eating much. Fever and aches and stuff like that. I think my fever broke today at 1pm when I woke up. I’ve been ok since then. I got turkey cheddar pinwheels from the convenience store for lunch and made whole wheat spaghetti for dinner. Having a fruit smoothie for a snack. As long as I don’t stay up too late I should be good to go.

If I remember correctly, I weigh about 178. The old scale did not agree wth the newer scale by three pounds. However, the newer scale seems to be consistent. I had a burrito for breakfast. I had a banana cream pie for lunch. I do not know what is wrong with me. I went off of my disciplined approach to my diet. I will resume something more sensible tomorrow. Maybe this has something to do with my depression? I am just not thinking correctly. Perhaps my upcoming court date for tomorrow is not helping me?

Good luck in court tomorrow Tuscon.

Stress affects what I eat. Even now when eating things off my list of gall-bladder safe foods makes me sick if I'm stressed enough I will eat things I know I shouldn't, on top of the things that help me feel better but have a lot of frustrating calories.

When I’m depressed all healthy eating goes right to hell. It’s part of the reason I gained twenty pounds in November/December.

I hope your court date goes smoothly, Tucson.

It is a frightening court date. Anxiety is shooting up. I am going to use Uber to get there. My paranoia makes me fear I will be late. I will get Uber an hour before when court starts. I have to remember to bring my doctors letter stating that what was found in my blood is not the cause of the DUI. He thinks I need to go to a neurologist. So my lawyer tells me that t is looking “favorable”, whatever that means.

Well today my steps were 4,105. MFP calories were 1,022. I’m pretty much following WW plan. I bought one of their cookbooks off eBay. I’m apart of a few WW FB groups. I like getting recipes and low calorie products. I’m older now so the weight might take longer to come off. To be honest I’m not going to weight myself weekly. It’s too stressful for me and I might give up. Everyone is different to each is their own. My goal is to be more active I’m not an active person. My Lithium keeps me really tired. But I’m going to try to do at least a little more

Yesterday I had a dairy free yogurt for breakfast, a sad tofu burrito for lunch, 3 dairy and gluten free choc chip cookies for a snack, and blackened tilpaia and a baked potato for dinner. Down to 271 lbs. Only 21 lbs to next goal now. First goal was 275, next one is 250. I've lost 17 lbs since October, 33 lbs since Nov 2016. wooooo

Rats! the oatmeal was a disaster in the microwave.
Oh well, so I ate a greek oikos zero yogurt:
( zero added sugar, 0 fat, 120 calories, 15 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber sweetened with stevia) and a banana and steeping hot tea.
I am trying to eat breakfast!

173.0 this morning. It's been oddly linear recently; a few tenths of a pound every couple of days without much in the way of bouncing. Reports are same old same old; near or under goal every day, usually having to grab a snack late just to keep from coming in too low.

I haven't eaten solid food in awhile so I know I'm not getting proper nutrition. So I bought some frozen fruit so I can make smoothies. Then I can still get nutrients without having to
eat solid food.
