My weight is 178. Despite my recent undisciplined approach to my diet, I have ended up not gaining or losing any weight. I ate 2500 calories of food today. After court, my daughter picked me up and then we went to the Panda Express. Boy they have calorie ladened servings of food. I ended the day with a banana. I really did not need to make myself a smoothie, but I did.

Other than a couple days at 182, I have been right around 178 for about three months now. It looks like most of the time, I have been eating around 2300 calories a day, maybe a bit less. Recently, I think I have been eating more calories than this, but I cannot be sure since I have not been consistently documenting my calorie intake. So I will once again begin to counting my calories and post here.

Hello everyone, today my AppleWatch steps were 4,307. MFP calories were 1,440. I went to physical therapy today and the chiropractor.

I ate a large amount of food today.
yogurt, banana, coffee with cream
lunch 3oz of chicken1/2 cup of collards smothered, 1/2 cup of beets, 1/2 cup of lentil rice. and small amount of greek/grecian dip.
Same thing for dinner. I split lunch up in to 2 meals.
Then I ate the left over chicken with beans from last night meal at 9pm. about 4 oz of chicken and 1/4 cup of saucy beans.
Very good eating day! Just not sure if it counted as a diet day.
have to make this work, I know that I should not have eaten at 9 pm but I was hungry.

I suck at making smoothies. I think I put too much fruit in it. It would not blend. Any tips?

What else are you using? I’ve found I have to use some sort of liquid in order to get everything to blend properly. I use frozen fruit, about a cup of unsweetened almond milk, and a cup-ish of plain greek yogurt. Without the milk it doesn’t work.

My weight now is 177. There must be a little weight variation here that is normal. Frozen fruit has water. I never had to add liquid in order for me to make a smoothie. However, instead of using a blender, I use a Nutribullet. I can see where you may have to add liquid when using a blender.

Hmm maybe it’s your blender? Or the order you’re putting the ingredients in? Mine is a tiny blender so I put fruit, milk, then yogurt on top. Sometimes I have to push the ingredients down with a spoon halfway through.

On Pinterest I find recipes for smoothies all the time. It actually tells how much to use.

Today I went to the gym. This is a real big deal because my Lithium keeps me really tired. I just started taking vitamin b complex for energy. I lasted 22 minutes on the treadmill. My steps for today were 6,057. MFP calories were 1,025. I drank around 40 oz of water today.

I have ate about 2300 calories today. I had eggs with chorizo, a fruit smoothie, a turkey burger, two slices of pizza (free), and two slices of banana bread. I used an extra egg for the banana bread to boost the calories. I was about 60 carbs short of my daily targets provided by myfitnesspal. The rest like protien and fat were met.

A surprise on the scale this morning - 170.8! I suspect it's largely water because that's 2.2 pounds lower than 2 days ago; I won't be surprised if I weigh a little more on Saturday. Still, seeing a weight within 6 pounds of goal is nice.

I ate pasta with a salad and coffee. I then had an urge to eat junk food and bought some cheese puffs and cookies. Oh well, I don't know when I will start eating more healthy.

I know it's time for me to finally watch my calorie intake to get back to a normal BMI. I also have to start doing some deliberate exercise. I do little nowadays. My cholesterol is high and so are my triglycerides. They're not quite high enough for my doctor to prescribe a statin, but he's been warning me that he will if my numbers don't improve.

The hard part for me is motivation. I either have it, and do great, or not. One problem I also have is that unlike many women, I don't see myself as being that overweight looking, even though my weight is about 17 lbs above the high of my BMI range. I believe I hold my weight fairly well and tend to look a lot slimmer at my weight than most women my height, but who are smaller boned and with less muscle (I used to be a dancer). I'm glad I don't obsess about weight, but that effects my motivation.

Bird dancer, You can start right now by eating a healthier meal today. Just decide that you want to eat healthier. lower carbs and portion control is the ticket.
no counting carbs or calories works for me. I only try to drink coffee, hot tea or water. Cutting out fattening beers has made a huge difference for me.

You're right, bizi. I can eat a great lunch and dinner. I have the foods available to me. I may have to count something, though. I feel I have better success when I do. Thanks for the encouragement 😉

I decided to make BMI my line in the sand because it is inflexible and I can't rationalize that a wider range is okay or that my arbitrary goal was too low. As of this morning, my BMI is 26.0 (it was 33.9 last summer). When I get below 25, I probably won't look any different than I do now. I am still committed. Also, I am a male with a normal sized build and not heavily muscled. BMI is accurate for me.

made it one week AF.
Lunch:
chicken salad
Dinner:
split an order of bang bang shrimp and had one slice of bread with pesto olive oil, chicken, lilly's from bone fish grill. It was so delicious!
with spinach, basil and artichokes and goat cheese and lemon butter sauce. side of spinach and brocoli. I cut up half and boxed it up right away to bring home as it was a lot of food.
It will be lunch tomorrow.
I decided to quit the more expensive gym and rejoin the planet fitness one and save $55 a month.

So, I am in the 180s and want out!

Today I started eating much smarter, and I am praying I can keep it up!

For breakfast I had Honey Bunches of Outs (delicious) with skim milk.
For lunch, I just had peanut butter on 2 pieces of wheat bread with extra fiber.

2 cups of tea with skim milk.

I hope everyone is doing well, and I really look forward to helping out and getting some help and tips from everyone

Does anyone want to do Atkins???

I have done it before, and you lose FAST. It gives you a good jumpstart and then you have to be smart with your carbs.

I am thinking about it

I went on the keto diet which is very similar to Atkins. I only stayed on it for a week because I gained 5 pounds. My husband went on it for a month and lost 15 pounds. I was eating very few calories before I started the keto and I think my body just didn't know what to do with all that food... but who knows?

I can't remember what I ate yesterday. I know I had 2 gluten and dairy free banana nut muffins, a sad burrito, and yogurt. I can't remember if I ate anything else. I didn't weight myself today, I'll do it tomorrow. Gonna go out and get some sushi in a bit. I'm a bit hungrier today. My abdomen hurt yesterday, so wasn't that hungry. Oh well.

All plans are CICO at their core - Calories In, Calories Out. Burn more than you eat and you lose weight. There are no magic fat burning foods and no significant change in metabolism from eating certain foods. Whichever plan you can stick to will work best. I am trying to eat the same things I will continue eating in maintenance, but tracking calories carefully and limiting portions. I may have trouble upping my intake, but IMO that is better problem than having to learn a new way of eating.
