I tried low carb for a few months last year but kept “falling off the wagon” because it was just too restrictive for me. I kept losing and gaining the same 20 pounds over and over again. I am now on weight watchers which seems to be working well for me, but I’m only in week 3 so it’s hard to say how it will be long term. I don’t feel nearly as restricted on it though which is really the key for me in any diet that I try.

I was on a dietitian prescribed diet once and lost almost 40 lbs in six months. I was permitted up to 60 g net carbs per day, and I thought that was a very low amount of carbs considering that my lifetime carb consumption was extremely high, comparatively. I can't imagine myself eating many fewer than 60 g net carbs per day. My dietitian called the diet she prescribed high fat, but compared to Atkins it was fairly low fat.

I still weigh 178. I had 2500 calories today. I would like more days above 2300 to see if I gain any weight. However, I am paranoid of gaining too much weight. I do not ever want to be 235 again. I think even 195 be too much weight. Maybe 185 at most. Why am I paranoid about at this weight? I do not know. I can afford to gain a couple pounds.

According to a calorie calculator, I need to eat 2500 calories a day to gain one pound a week. I do not know if I can do this while eating healthy food. I can end up cheating by eating dessert which is easy for me to do. Also I still have to remain in my budget for groceries. I looked at my calorie intake over the the month of December and I averaged 2300 with some excursions up to 2500. I was still able to maintain my weight but not gain any. Maybe I should open up my recipie books and look for recepies that are easy to make, contain a fair amount of calories, and stay in my budget. I will begin looking tomorrow.

PS I would like to start exersizing for my health. I have this free membership to LA Fitness that I have not been using at least for the past couple years.

I went over goal yesterday for the first time in a while. Not by all that much and according to my fitness app I burned more calories walking that I went over (167, but it could be more because of some estimating). I will probably come up a little short on purpose today, though I am sure I was still well below maintenance yesterday.

I went over my calories yesterday. Oh well... today is a new day! A couple weeks ago I was stuck between 151-155 pounds. Now I'm stuck at 141-144 pounds. I hate being stuck.

How many of you feel organic fruit is a luxury?

I agree with wildflower... Don't have the money for organic anything. To me it seems like a luxury.

Sometimes I break down and buy organic bananas when they are the only ripe ones. But then I will only get about 3 along with a bunch of regular ones that are closest to being ripe. I hate it when I buy bananas and then don't have any to eat until a week later when they are ripe. Happens a lot in the winter.

I’ve worked some drinks into my weekly points for tomorrow. I plan on enjoying some spiked seltzers. So I decided not to go out today and make cheddar broccoli soup at home. I probably won’t go out tomorrow either but I haven’t decided yet. I might make turkey burgers at home. I need to save some money anyway until I start getting paid again.

I’ve done very well this week with points and therefore eating healthy. Mostly because I was trying to save enough to have a few drinks. But I like seeing that I’ve stayed in the healthy point range every day this week, assuming I don’t go over tonight with snacks. I will continue to Stay in the healthy point range every day except Saturday because of the drinks. But it’s worth it if it’s just once a month and not every damn weekend like I was doing before.

Looking forward to weigh in on Monday, hoping to be down another pound.

Down from 210+ to 190 in 5 months without much effort, despite 5mg of Zyprexa. Mostly by removing processed sugar and eating smaller portions.
Thanks for this!

In my city we have a farmers market. They sell organic everything. They are really good with having sales. Places like Trade Joes have sales too. If it’s something you really like or want to try, try to catch it on sale.

Hey bizi what do you take magnesium for? Thinking of adding it for frequent cmuscle cramps and water retention,

Kinda binged today because I was mad I failed at dinner ( as in it did not turn out right) and a little hypo. Decided to have some frozen yogurt, chips/queso, AND a mini cupcake. I am still under my points but just barely. Depends on what I have for dinner tomorrow. I’m thinking herbed baked chicken breast and veggies to keep it low points. They didn’t have my spiked seltzer at the liquor store either so I had to get wine, that threw me off. Should be ok though,

Once again I am going to have to plan my meals ahead of time. This “winging it” is not working. My weight is 178. I consumed 2600 calories. My making of chocolate lava cake did not help. I do want to keep it below at least 2500, closer to 2300. Tonight, I will plan my menu for tomorrow.

PS My daughter took half of the cake before leaving my house. This should help.

Update: I have completed my menu for tomorrow at 2400 calories. This includes eggs with chorizo, a fruit yogurt smoothie, a turkey burger, and three slices of left over pizza. I hope it is still edible. I will finish off with two servings of dessert. Now that was easy.

I take 1000mg of magnesium oxide for chronic constipation.
It is the only thing that consistently works for me along with a probiotic.

My weight is 178. I consumed about 2400 calories. From my previous post, I changed what I ate for lunch from a turkey burger to Johnsonville Italian Sweet sausage. The sausage is not bad at all. I am trying to restrain myself from going to Cocos and eat a slice of their banana cream pie at 750 calories per slice. No. Not for me right now. Maybe have it alone for lunch tomorrow.
