Went to Orangetheory for the first time since spraining my ankle 2+ weeks ago. The ankle is almost fine now. I went for the treadmill only class but did not push myself, in part because of the healing ankle and in part because I was having a low grade migraine. The migraine actually improved due to HIITs. It was quite amazing.

I forgot my HR monitor and do not know my HR stats from this workout, but based on RPE and getting sweaty and flushed in the face, I worked hard enough.

Next class is on Friday and I will be sure to take my HR monitor with me.

The GOLO isn't working. It's been about a month, and I am back and forth fighting with the same two pounds. Just up two pounds, down two pounds, back and forth for a whole month. This feels so impossible. I can't take a lot of the GOLO because of how drastically it lowers your blood sugar - after taking one pill with a meal I am literally passed out for an hour - you just can't live this way, especially if you're diabetic. My doctor had warned against this and I didn't listen. Lesson learned.

My gym partner has been flaking the past couple of weeks. Just cancelling on me, etc. Starting to get sick of it, so I really have to look into trying to push myself to go on my own. I miss dancing so much; I really need to start trying to move my body slowly in a way where I can work up a sweat. There are some classes I can take at the YMCA, but they are kind of advanced. I lasted 20 minutes at Line Dancing last time I tried.

Anyway, rethinking my strategy. Counting calories doesn't work either because again, the scale just hasn't moved at all even though I have been working really hard at it for a while now. The only way to lose the weight is to really sweat it off - or just eat a lot of protein. I will figure out a way. Will keep posting for accountability as I navigate through this.

I've had 1,350 calories, 182 carbs, and 42 grams of protein today. My stomach is all over the place. I've only thrown up a couple times though.

Had a really good workout at Orangetheory fitness. Although I accumulated only 10 and not the recommended minimum 12 splat points, I felt great subjectively.

First, 14 mins of rowing. About 1800 meters.

Then, floor exercises for strength.

Then, treadmill and that is where I got my 10 spat oiubts.

Finally, a couple of stretches.

14 blue mins
27 green mins
10 orange mins

119 avg hr
146 peak hr

324 calories

My stomach majorly calmed down today. I think my stomach med I've been on since March might have been the issue. My Golo came today and I took the first one with lunch about half an hour ago. Not much to report. My stomach doesn't hurt though. I'm a bit chilled out and I don't know if its in my head or from low blood sugar. But my vomiting has stopped at least for today.

I've had 959 calories, 172 carbs, and 31 grams of protein so far.

I'll have to figure out some more stuff.

My blood sugar is 117. So its normal.

3 hours later and I feel like I drank a gallon of chocolate milk. I'm defiently not hungry.

My thighs were sore this morning from Orangetheory strength training part yesterday and personal training on Thursday evening. They are better now.

I have not exercised today but I wore my 12 lb weighted vest when doing chores such as laundry and cooking.

I have work to do now but will try to fit in a rower session this evening at the little gym of our apartment complex.

Question to those who are exercising regularly please.

How do you motivate yourself?

I used to exercise most days, run, swim, yoga and this year I lost all motivation (not just for exercise unfortunately but many things).

Last night I cleared out my pantry of all my chips and crackers and cookies and stuff. I found quite a few cans of beans, cans of vegetables, a lot of boxes of oatmeal, some, rice, tuna, and nuts underneath all the crap I had collected. I just put the stuff in my closet. I didn't throw it out.

Today I haven't been too hungry. I've been taking the Golo. I got some cans and pouches of salmon and some dark chocolate and a jug of unsweetened iced tea from Walmart.

With dinner I'm at 1250 calories, 129 carbs, and 85 grams of protein.

I'm kind of not in the mood for dinner but my therapist will have a ***** fit if I start heading back into restriction especially if I'm taking a diet pill now.

Part of it is music or audiobooks for me when I do low intensity cardio. I look forward to the time when I can hear music or a story. Since I do not have time to read these days, audiobooks are all I get. And I have invested in cool headphones: I have a set of bone conduction headphones for walks outside (they are safer for outdoors) and nice pretty color well-cushioned over ear headphones for indoor exercise. I even have a very old but functional mini ipod that can be submerged in water and I plan to swim with it come summer.

So audio is a big part of motivation for me. Would something like this work for you?

Today I had a Quest protein cookie for breakfast and a lime Pepsi a few hours later. Around 9 I had a strawberry Ensure. Lunch was a chili cheese dog and an iced matcha. Not the greatest combination. It didn't stay down.

I'm at 1,154 calories, 155 carbs, and 51 grams of protein.

Dinner will probably just be salmon

I have actually lost a little bit of weight, but I am going on vacation and am afraid that in those 9 days lost pounds will pile back up.

Thanks. Music used to work for me, especially running but it seems to no longer motivate me in the same way (I do sometimes listen when I’m walking though). Audiobooks are great and podcasts but for some reason I could never concentrate on them while exercising, I’m in awe that you can do that!

Maybe you simply exercise at a higher intensity than I do when you listen to audiobooks or podcasts. I do not use them for high intensity workouts.

I was hesitant about telling my GI I started Golo on Saturday. But I figured I needed to tell them. She asked what it was and I said it was for my weight. She looked it up and asked if it was helping one way or the other but didn't make a fuss about me being on it.

I'm not having any side effects from it and it does seem to lower my appetite quite a bit.

I'm discouraged. I'm exercising every day, and I do feel stronger, but I'm still a whale, and I always will be.

I didn't actually realize a small frosted animal cookie blizzard had 720 calories. Oops.

Overall I'm at 1,391 calories, 201 carbs, and 27 grams of protein.

I had a strength training session in the early evening and then an Orangetheory treadmill only workout in late evening.

At Orangetheory, I changed my speed from 3mph to 3.5 mph. I did not go all out with incline but just focused on walking at a higher speed. I was completely alright! That felt great. I only got 7 Splat points which is fine. I plan to solidify making 3.5 mph at 1% incline my base and then will add incline later. Today I just did 90 sec at 4% followed by 60 sec at base, then 60 sec at 7% followed by 60 sec at base, then 30 sec at 10-12% followed by 60 sec at base, rinse and repeat. It was fun and did not feel too difficult.

My stats:

289 calories burned (less than before)

7 splat points: 7 blue, 29 green, 7 orange mins.

AVG HR 126 BPM, PEAK HR 142 BPM (lower than before)

4917 steps

A buff whale looks better than a wobbly one! And it feels better on the inside to be a strong whale than a weak one. That is for sure.

I have even seen cropped t-shirts online that read "Strong, athletic, and fat". I would not wear them, no, but I subscribe to the concept of the message on them.

Maybe you are overexercising? It is completely fine to walk and do other low intensity cardio every day, but for muscles to grow, you need breaks in resistance training. Not every day. Also, HIITs should not be done every day. 2-3 times a week max.

I ate most of my calories before 10AM. Then I got caught up some TV shows all day and I was distracted. I just ate a cup of rice about an hour ago. For once my Geodon isn't making me hungry.

I've eaten ok today considering my nausea. I've had some plain pad thai noodles, a protein shake, a cup of chicken broth, and 3 biscuits.

If your issues are severe enough like mine were and your insurance pays for it, I highly suggest trying PT for chronic constipation. My physical therapist was like a magician and even with 3 zofran a day I don't have a issue going.
