Here in Cape Town, I'm coloured, I have all 4 of my front teeth (like gross, why would I want a 'passion gap') and I speak proper English (without the 'ghetto' accent). LOL.

I'm a man and...wait I think I'll stop there.
I used to surf a lot and I don't have blonde hair and have never said hang 10 except as a joke.
I haven't got an ounce of Scottish blood but I love bagpipe music... in small doses. I think I''ll post some bagpipe stuff in vids later Roz
Ummm I've heard about haggis and I don't want anything to do with it.
No opinion on men in kilts but I think it's very cold in Scotland and the kilt thing sounds painful. How is the birth rate there by the way?
Thanks for this!

I am Czech, I drink, but I don't throw myself at every foreigner who waves Euro bills in my face, I do laugh at unlaughable and I am sorta like Schweik (basically trolling life to get through), I am cynical. I don't vote for any of the two parties though and don't own a weekend house and don't spend my vacations on beach in Croatian resort getting a tan to get my friends jealous.

I don't hate Russians and Germans and don't send tourist the other direction when they ask for a way.

I am good looking and have curvy body, like most of Czech girls (and i love to brag of sights of my country too).

Well this is a thread I can't resist. I'm a chi...I'm Chinese. *ahem* I'm certainly cheap, but only when it comes to shopping for myself. I'm also excellent at bargaining. I do martial arts, although no Chinese martial arts. I don't drive, buuuuut I'm probably not a great driver since I suck at driving video games. Yes I'm extremely good at math, but I dislike having to do math and my mental math is atrocious. People at work make fun of me for eating rice a lot. And yes, cats are food, not friends. xD Just kidding...maybe....you'll never know!

P.S. I'm what Chinese call a "banana" - yellow on the outside white on the inside. You figure out the bias of this based on that.

It was funny you posted this one. There have been recent commercials for "Scotts" lawn producted. Each feature a guy struggling with his lawn and this fellow um "scotty" shows up, (reddish hair beard, etc) with an obviously over the top scottish accent. The commercials are silly. Your description of Bagpipes, pricelessly funny.

I am from the south so there are tons:

1. No I am not married to my cousin
2. I am not a fan of country music
3. I hate collard greens, yuukkkk
4.I am not fond of fried flounder.
5. I do not drive an old V8 Pickup Truck
6. I do not own a hound dog.

On the other hand

I do enjoy sweetea (thats one word for your Northern folks)
I like grits
Barbeque is one of the greatest food creations ever.

So I guess one picks and chooses their sterotypes.

I'm from Southern California, but:
1) I, like, totally don't talk like a Valley girl?
2) I DON'T SURF! (Sorry, that one comes up a lot)
3) I'm not blond
4) I don't walk down the street and see movie stars

That said, my brother does live in Hollywood and he saw Quentin Tarrantino in a record store once. I also enjoy swimming (which I can do all year round), and my brother is blond, though I'm quite brunette. And I can fake the Valley accent rather convincingly, though I like to think it's, like, not naturally how I talk, y'know?
Thanks for this!

Oh, and on the subject of bagpipes:

"I understand the inventor of the bagpipes was inspired when he saw a man carrying an indignant, asthmatic pig under his arm. Unfortunately, the man-made sound never equalled the purity of the sound achieved by the pig."

Well, I am a woman, and I have a Ph.D. from a quite-respected school (not dumb, in other words). I also am a decent driver (over 40 years and only one wreck I got a ticket for). I don't talk all the time (except when I'm manic!) I also like to watch sports on TV (actually more than my hubby).
And so on.

I'm also a Southerner, like Tim. I'm not married to a relative either. I do not like grits. I don't like NASCAR (car racing). I'm not prejudiced against certain groups. I do say, "Y'all," but not a lot of the other Southern stuff. (Most people tell me they can't even figure out from the way I talk where I am from!)

This thread is a good one!

Re my 1st post. Sorry people for the 'C' word. I didn't know it was rude. It's actually used here legally during carnival week. Didn't mean to offend anybody

I don't even remember what the "C" word was, much less was I offended by it. That situation does show that we sometimes just don't know what will offend people, maybe because, as in my case, I might not know the origin of an expression or what a word means. I certainly hope people will let me know whenever I say something inappropriate! I try to be PC.

Have you folks noticed that it's evidently still PC to use derogatory terms for us folks with mental illness? For example, I play games on other Internet sites that require recognizing words (such as Letter Linker). It allows words like "loony," but not "gays." (I'm curious, then, for anyone who would like to answer, is "gays" not considered okay? Thanks! )

* I live in New England, but I'm not a big fan of maple syrup, I am not white (I'm mixed), and I don't ski.

* (I think) I am a reasonably attractive petite woman who likes to dress well and wear make up at times, and I've been diagnosed with Histrionic Personality Disorder ... but I am not a ditzy airhead, and I am not shallow. On the contrary, in fact.

Love this thread to pieces.

Also from California (north and south), and completely agree with the above! I get these a lot, too:

5) I don't drive a convertible
6) I am not an actress or aspiring actress (SoCal) or involved in the computer industry (NorCal)
7) No, I never met Bill Gates or Steve Jobs
8) No, I don't hang out with movie stars
9) I always live in big cities but have never lived in LA or SF (there are other cities out here!)
10) I'm afraid of swimming
11) I have no more time to go to the beach than most people
12) I DO live right next to Disneyland; I can't afford to go.

I'm also half-Mexican:
1) I don't speak Spanish
2) I have brown hair, blue eyes, and fair skin
3) I'm not Catholic
4) I only have one sibling (though yes, my extended family is HUGE)
5) I hate hate hate beans
6) My ancestors came here legally and about 200 years ago.
Thanks for this!

I'm Canadian too,

I don't like being cold.
I don't use cold water tide.
I don't drink beer.
I don't like Tim Hortons coffee.
I really do NOT like hockey.
I walk, I do not use a dog sled for transportation.
In the summer where I live it's about 40 degrees Celsius, not "-40".
My head is not sliced in half for a mouth like Terrance and Phillip, I know hard to believe.
I can't afford maple syrup.
I have not rode on a polar bear.... Yet.
I do not like commercials that try to play on our canadian pride.
I don't have an "eh" key on my keyboard.

I do say eh even if I don't notice it. I don't think I say " aboot" but I do. I love maple syrup. I am overly polite, but I will not apologize if you run over me with your car, not very loudly anyway. I love Moose.

Yes!!! I still sleep with a lot of the lights on. Thankfully in the winter when it gets dark by 4:30 pm the snow reflects the light and it's quite bright.

To many black people, Im an Oreo - black on the outside, white on the inside.
To many others of West-Indian/Carribbean decent, I'm a coconut/roast breadfruit - dark on the outside, light on the inside.

Yes i do like some Hip Hop, R&B, and soul...LOVE REPRESENTING TDOT TO THE FULLEST in real life =
= Hip Hop Ain't Dead, It Lives In The North! (and there is MUCH more to Canadian music than just Beiber and Drake and Celine Dion)

I have never worn a weave. I live in the 'burbs. I don't have any reason to try to use "slang" in conversation or try to sound "hood" in any way - anyone who hears me try knows that i am faking it. Way, way, WAY back in the day i used to watch BET - but it is just a mess now(so glad i don't have Cable anymore )

I'm sick of the whole "clubbin/nightlife/party" scene. I may relent to being dragged out to an event like twice a year...but UGH i have no patience for any of that drama and effort anymore.

Yet i do still like some reggae and dancehall too and love to dance to some "wikked tunes"(yea, YEAH!)
RIHANNA DOES NOT NOT REPRESENT ALL OF US IN THE WEST INDIES AND CANNOT SING...or perform or dance or is original in any way or...I have no idea what my cousin sees in her; she begged me to come along to see her in concert about 2 years ago (essentially as an "adult" chaperone to her and 2 teen friends) and . Never again. There are SO many better artists out there representing the Carribbean well.

Beyond that...i am just a black chick with mental health issues and works on them through therapy...not just anger, ambivilance, attitude, or extreme escapism with others leading to being really lost or babydaddy drama. <<<But thats just stereotyping too because I don't know them and they dont know me...

The rest is self-explanatory - i am notablackbarbie.

Thanks for this topic thread

Well, I'm both Italian and Texan. This should be interesting.

Never worn a cowboy hat in my life. Been to the rodeo, I admit, but it was to see a concert.
I don't ride a horse and I don't know anyone who does.
Ok, I do say "y'all", but I don't really think I have too much of an accent.
I'm not a conservative.
I don't come from a family with 32 children.
I'm not catholic.
I don't drive a pickup truck.
Never been mudding (seriously, who does that?) and I think hunting is repulsive.
I don't have Gino or Dominic anywhere in my name, nor do I know any.
Oh and I can read and write. Seriously, this Canadian dude was shocked at my fluency with the language I grew up speaking! What are they teaching them about Texas up there? For real.

I live in Ontario Canada - I have a friend who's a custom agent at the Detroit border and had people come with downhill skis on the hood asking, "where's the nearest mountain"? Its flat here lol and you would need to go to the other side of the country for that. Also been asked - are there Native Indians still living in Tipis? Middle Easterners think all we eat are hotdogs and hamburgers......oh and we're all sleazy. I also don't drink beer and not every man wears plaid flannel shirts. No its not freezing here all year long.

As a female:
*I am not a good driver. (Working on that, though.)
*BUT, I hate soap operas, chick flicks, Lifetime, and The View.

As a person from Kentucky:
*I don't like to wear shoes.
*I have lived in a home with no indoor plumbing.
*I have a huge extended family.
*I prefer country music and Southern Gospel.
*BUT, I have never owned a horse, nor do I even know anyone who runs moonshine or works in a coal mine.

My husband is male and straight, but he doesn't like sports, enjoys cooking, and prefers cats over dogs.

I am overweight and nerdy, but (despite what comedians say) I don't have to pay for sex.

Related: I have a high IQ, along with the requisite awkward social skills AND glasses.

I am a grandmother who knits and bakes cookies.
Thanks for this!
