No, not even a little bit. I don't like it in general, because I think it's almost offensive to imply that all people think their jobs are boring and pointless and that five days of every week are spent in meaningless drudgery - which is the idea behind thanking higher powers for Friday. And I don't subscribe to it in my own particular case because I just don't like weekends, and Fridays have the double curse of being the day before the weekend and the day after my second T session of the week, so it's a relatively long time until my next session.

I don't mind weekends - I am not particularly keen on holidays however.

I am of the yay it's friday crowd, but not because I hate my job. I like weekends because that's when I get to spend time with my shamanic arts group!

I never saw tgif as meaning one hated their job either. I sort of think of it as carved out time for a separate purpose or when clients/students will not be calling and it is time to rest. I liken it to using a crate with one dog I had - she would get so tired and cranky (seriously she would get like an overtired toddler when she was a puppy) but literally could not rest until I had put her in her crate. Once in her crate - she immediately relaxed and fell right to sleep. It took all the pressure off of her (or that is how it seemed). She got better at being able to relax out of crate as she got older but it took until she was over a year old. She was one of the two dogs I have had who loved their crates. I left the crate out longer than usual because she would go in it herself - I did not shut her in it - but it was her safe spot.
She was a herding breed which I think had something to do with it.

I like my job well enough, but it's been insane this week - 10 hours was my shortest day. I'm glad the weekend is here.

I guess it might be easier for me to understand if weekends had ever been a source of rest and recuperation for me, rather than the most stressful part of the week.

No - I was just trying to join in the baby thing in an appropriate manner.

It was somewhat ominous. Seeeeeeeeeems like a nice baby.......

I like a baby who looks right at the camera / picture taker. To me it means he is accustomed to being engaged with, ie he looks securely attached. The baby truly doesnt "stand" on his own, which i think is partly what is funny about sd's comment? It makes it sound like the baby is an entity. But its part of a relationship at the beginning, and for a long time. I mean, i read about this stuff, but this makes it real for me.
Thanks for this!

"Your baby is an entity." Now that's ominous!

Thanks y'all!

RTS, I am EXHAUSTED, as I am sure you well understand. I never knew my body could operate on so little sleep, but somehow it's working out ok. Now that I'm back at work, my thoughts go something like, "OK, better make sure I've prepared the Powerpoint for the 2:30-- oh wait a second, before I do that, I need to run some extra diapers over to daycare becausZZZZzzzzz..."

And Hankster, I am totally having a blast! It's fun watching him grow and to see the little personality emerge. He's a very aware and alert little guy -- staring at new stuff is probably his favorite pastime.

Mast, I think "seems like a nice baby" comes off as funny because "nice" is something usually associated with either an object ("that restaurant over there seems like a nice place") or a person who is more of a... person, I guess ("he seems like a nice guy"). Babies kind of fall in between, where they are little people, but don't quite have personalities, and frankly if you take the way a baby behaves and imagine an adult behaving the same way, that adult would be a whiny narcissist with horrible communication skills, and so not nice at all. Anyway, that's why I find it funny . But as babies go, SD, he's a nice one.

I hope you're all hanging in there! I am barely hanging in there. My mood has been ok but this sure is stressful. T's been great through all of it. He was a trooper when Baby Brown, who is a master at blowing out his diaper, pooped on T during one of my maternity leave sessions. Yep. My baby pooped on my therapist. I'm sure Freud would have something to say about that, but I don't know what.
