what do you guys do when you feel so so alone, and don't see a way out of that loneliness? I've denied and denied and denied and pushed away any sense of loneliness for years now. Who knows why now (and maybe this is a temporary state of feeling that will go away tomorrow), but it feels so unbearable.

AY—Maybe you should ask her who her therapist is and check them out?

I might be able to make progress on The Journey (TM) without the constant distraction of therapist hi-jinks.
Thanks for this!

I'm going through a little of this, although I'm constantly surrounded by children and coworkers, I feel walled off and separated from everyone. I'm searching for a solution as well, just wanted you to know I heard you.

You’re a genius.

I thought Info’s hijinks were restricted to jumping out from behind trees? Has she diversified in that area? Or, are you talking of others?

Her physical hijinks, sure.

But who knows what she’s going to suggest doing with a cat next.

That depends on the initial amount it’s a percentage of, doesn’t it? Depending on that, those two options could be the same.

And, not to get philosophical on top of mathematical, but we’d have to define “a bunch,” too.

Thank you. I also am surrounded by children (toddlers), and co-workers, but I never have connected with co-workers beyond a superficial working relationship. Most of the time, the toddlers have helped when I feel like this--and there are still moments when they do. An example is from nap time today. Every day this child wakes up with a groan, which makes me laugh--bc I am like "Yeah dude, I get ya," and then goes "HERE YOU GO MR. VELCRO!!!" while he hands me his blanket to be put away.

lol. I told his mom that I do not want him EVER to stop calling me Mr. Velcro, (even though I am a 'Ms') because it is adorable.

So...there are moments when the brain fog and hopelessness fade a bit, but is that all there is to life? To hoping there are mere moments of relief? I truly don't know, and not sure I can deal with it like this much longer.

My T is really great though, and is trying to find me a pdoc who accepts my insurance, as reluctant as I am to try meds again. Butttt when I literally can't understand how to fold a piece of construction paper into a cone despite someone showing me AND looking at a tutorial online, I know something isn't quite right. I mean, I can be stupid in many ways, but I feel like my brain is submerged underwater. My whole body, really.

But in the end...so what? I have no one (in real life) I can tell this to, except my T. She is wonderful and all, but is only there for me one hour a week. She replies to e-mails and will talk to me on the phone if needed, but you know--it isn't nearly the same as a friend or a significant other (not that i know what that is like) if you are feeling shitey.

In absolute numbers .14% is .01% less than .15%. (.140% is the same as .14%)

What gets tricky is that people often talk about a reduction in something as a percentage of the original. Like a $15 item that is on sale for $14 has had its original price reduced by roughly 7%. If someone had a .15% chance of developing a rare illness, but they're taking a drug that reduces the chances to .14%, that's a 7% reduction in their chances of sickness. But in real or absolute terms that's still pretty piddly... it only fell by 0.01%.

Apologies if that is way more ugly math than you wanted to hear about!

No, no! It’s interesting.
I’m just thrilled that by using my poor math skills ...I was right about it being .01% less!

I'm fail at math lol. I can't even calculate how much change I'm supposed to get back from a cashier.

Regarding loneliness, according to the UCLA Loneliness Scale, I've scored as "extremely lonely" for many, many years.

I had therapy this morning and asked T if I could bring back something for her. She asked for a postcard and my homework is to draw something on it and note how I feel while doing it. (lol, even token gifts must be therapeutic?)

I told her that despite formerly working as a graphic designer, my traditional drawing skills are awful and I'm much more comfortable working digitally. I made a comment on maybe I'm too hard on myself as some people draw simple line sketches and people love the message though the comic can be simple. Then she told me she likes Zen Pencils...I like them too! That makes 3 comic / lettering artists we both like OMG.

Hugs - how was your session in general? Does that mean you shouldn't bring coffee?

I really understand the feeling lonely

I don't know this artist but will look at the comics, thx for the suggestion! :-)

My session is general went pretty good I think! She remarked that I'm able to criticise my parents' behaviour quite freely these days. In our early sessions, I could barely whisper and would hurt myself in sessions.

I didn't ask her specifically if I could bring back some coffee for her. I really want to, though Planning the trip to Trondheim will be quite a massive undertaking because I got recommended about 4 speciality roasters, about 8? different brands (each with their own blends!) and I'm no coffee expert.

*hugs* You're free to message me too of course, and there's FB messenger on my phone too

Okay, now I did that test too. I choose often everywhere. I think I don't need to press the "score" button
