Our park is packed today cause it's a nice day outside. The dogs and I were almost run over by some idiots on scooters. Scooters make my dogs crazy

This one sounds like my dogs some, definitely my cats always, and often ex-hankster:

Dancing last night with my phone in my pocket and walking around the casino a bunch both last night and today I'm up to 45 miles for the month in our work walking challenge. I'm a tenth of a mile from catching 3rd place so I'm going to go walk around the casino some more and pass him up! I'm not gambling today, I did some last night and actually won a little so I'm done. H finished in the money in the tournament last night, he won $190, the tournament was $80 to enter so ended up plus $110. He's playing the 2nd tournament right now. I'm going back down there to walk around the whole perimeter and get myself into 3rd place in the walking challenge. That sounds much more fun to me than playing slots and likely losing back what I won last night haha!! I don't know how to play poker at least not in the realm of doing it for money. And blackjack I might as well save myself time and just hand them my money and walk away. So I don't even bother with those things. And just look around for cool-looking slot machines and play only a little bit ($10 is all I'd ever let myself lose). While I don't really like gambling and stuff it doesn't bother me when h plays in tournaments cuz there's only a set amount he can lose, the entry fee. He hasn't gambled hardly at all this year because we've had the 3 hospital stays between us to pay off. OK off to go walk and get myself into 3rd place!!

ETA: I'm back from 2 laps around the casino. I am now in 3rd place. I won't be catching 2nd... she's got 87.7 miles!! I'm now at 45.6 for the month, half a mile ahead of the guy I just passed. I need to walk some more today to get further ahead of him who says I'm not competitive heehee

I don't think my Dad is going to be around much longer. Alzheimer's is progressing rapidly. Definitely not long enough to sing Happy Birthday to me on my voice mail next year. I wish I still had that recording.

For those with anxiety, have you ever tried karate or boxing or something like that and did it help? Trying to think of something to get into doing..but I also struggle with social stuff so I don't want things where I'd need to feel "on display" in class

I have done karate, though not specifically for anxiety. It was certainly quite exhausting and cardio intensive, so if you think something like that helps (similar to jogging or biking), then it might be worth a try. It's also great to just be able to hit things...
But as for being on display, in my karate class the trainer was almost always showing techniques together with a random student, asking students questions and so on. I'm not sure whether that was his style or is like that in general with karate (he was trained by Japanese karate pros, so I kind of assume it is common).
Thanks for this!

My kids do/have done karate. It's a great sport for exercise and, actually, for social stuff. There is some social interaction: Sparring and other partner activities, for example. But the group is so inclusive and accommodating that everyone seems to be met right where they are socially.

The only thing that might be challenging (and seems common in martial arts) is belt test to move up levels. Often those are conducted individually or in small groups in front of a larger group. But the studios with which I'm familiar (between my kids and my friends' kids, that covers a few martial arts studios) also offer private testing for a small additional fee.

Maybe look at a couple boxing/martial arts studios in your community to get a feel for which might be a good fit? Some are pretty gung-ho about the sport; others are more laid back. The smaller family-run studios seems to be a little more relaxed and accommodating.

I tried karate. I wasn’t particularly good at it and kept feeling like I was holding the class back ( even though instructor was very patient with me. I’d suggest yoga or maybe tai chi or qi gong (they’re related) for anxiety. Since they also help with mindfulness. If you do yoga, I’d suggest hatha, yin, or gentle to start. Which reminds me, I need to get back into that...

New cat is playing a very annoying game with me. She takes one of her tinsel balls and knocks it under the small stand in the foyer. Then she threatens to knock the stand over while trying to get it out. So I get up and get it for her.

But now she is *pretending* to knock it under the stand and when I go to get it she runs away, probably giggling.

Later she’ll probably be making prank phone calls and asking people if their refrigerators are running, or if they have Prince Albert in a can.

And people who don't know cats think they are not interactive

New cat just walked right by me with a tinsel ball in her mouth, dropped it on the foyer floor in front of the stand, *deliberately* swatted it under the stand, and then turned around to stare imperiously at me.
