Glowiebird,
I know how you feel. I do believe it's related to anxiety, as I've had anxiety and insomnia since I was a kid. I hope you are able to get some sleep soon. Have you tried Melatonin or Valerian? Best wishes! ![]()

George,
Which anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medications helped you sleep? What I am currently taking is not working, and I anxious to get some relief from this awful insomnia. Thanks! ![]()

My counselor has suggested melatonin , but I'm scared to take it :/. I know that sounds stupid, but I try to avoid taking pills. Although , that is natural. The thought of something putting me to sleep creeps me out though :/.

I took both in the mornings. The Prozac made me edgy the first week or so but that was an improvement over depression. The clonazepam probably helped with the edginess and with sleeping. I was able to go back to work so I was very happy with the combination. I hope you can find something that works for you. |

I will just say, that I can’t give you any answers but I can give you my view upon how I see your situation. Also my prospective of that based from how I may be able to relate to you in some respects. However I will say as well, sorry if I get this wrong and assume or trigger you by my ways of viewing your personal situation based from my own experiences. Also I have read your reply to my post and I replied to this thread of yours, as it is similar to your other in Anxiety. So I hope you don’t mind me posting this here on this thread. I personally think some of your problems such as lack of sleep or disrupted sleep maybe a subconscious thing. I think either you have been unknowingly triggered by something someone has said or you have read or even just a person’s body language can trigger you. Other times things can trigger you that impose some form of memory or feeling similar to that event that started these feelings or unwanted things e.g. lack of sleep to occur. It seems that maybe this is playing on your mind. Or at least to me this is how I would perceive what you are describing but please remember I am just another person who doesn’t have a clue themselves. One technique for sleep that may help you. When trying to get to sleep lye in whatever positions you usually do, but it has to be comfortable not just lying there, if that makes sense. Close your eyes take some beep breaths… then start to notice how your body feels lying there all the different sensations… like your body maybe warm but your arms maybe cold because they are not under the sheets. Another thing you may notice is some parts of your body feel heavier than others or aches more than others. You can really pick up on how you are feeling this way but just notice these things try not to let your mind wonder. Also keep breathing deep and slow. Once you have notice one thing tell yourself you are relaxed or it is time to relax. This has work a few times for me. Sometimes when you are really set off with the anxiety etc. things like this are harder to work with and they don’t necessarily have the same effect on yourself. So please try to hold in there and allow yourself time to work through this. I hope I have been of some help for you and I have not got this completely wrong. I wish you all the best |

Don't be afraid of melatonin. It's one of the only things that you can take that will have NO side effects, and will NOT become habit forming. It's so safe, the pediatrician that takes care of my toddlers suggested it for both of my children since they don't fall asleep easily.
To get the best effects, stagger when you take the melatonin, and change the dosage every so often. This will prevent your body from making less of its own melatonin (it's naturally occurring as it tells your mind when sleep time is), or making more serotonin to compensate for the high levels of mela in your system.

Thank you for your reply. I am glad I could help you in some ways. I can understand that feeling of that people treat you differently now… this never helps matters but we can’t control their reactions towards us as to how we now react towards things. However please try not to judge yourself… I do this far too often and really it causes more problems and just strengthens some unwanted thoughts, behaviours. I can maybe sort of tell you have a lot of things to work through and process, but just try to remember not to judge yourself for how you got to this point or ways of reacting. Been there, still end up judging myself, 6 years later now no better off. Also if those close to you don’t like your way of reacting to things at the moment… I am sure they are more concerned and worried for you not being yourself. It’s probably hard for them to see you like this and they probably don’t know how to help or they may worry they have added to your being like this. But even so they just seem to set you off or add to the anxiety, I am guessing here about this part. However those close to us generally do try to help in the most unhelpful of ways. I really wish you all the best and I hope you can be at ease with yourself once again soon ![]() |

Yeah it deff sucks. Like this was just a few days ago ImageUploadedByTapatalk1341345387.603963.jpg and you are right .. It just makes it worse. Like this girl used to be one of my best friends . That stuff really hurts me .. And I do judge myself . I get so upset with me sometimes.. Because she's right ; it gets in the way of all the things I could really do . Ya know ? It's a big change that I never guessed would happen to me .. It's sad that there are people like me , but I'm also grateful because I do have a LOT to work through & there are people like you who can help me. I'm pretty sure it won't leave any time soon... And I'm 17. I got my whole life ahead of me .. A whole life of anxiety. Sometimes it's discouraging. I want to be normal like my friends , but all I have to look forward to is a life of anxiety. It makes me question if I really should be here or not.

Hey, You know you have a whole life ahead of you but you have the insight and some support to assist you to work towards years ahead of bettering and working alongside, through this. However I can understand sometimes we need to feel bad to be able to work past that... If that makes sense. Not that this is a way anyone would want to feel but at least you can recognizes this and it natural way anyone would feel. I am almost 20 and just starting to try and put into place things I should have done years ago. But one common thing I have learned is that we all do things within our own time and pace. It's easy to think you should have to be how others expect you to be but that wouldn't be true to you or how you’re feeling right now. Also everyone deals with different things and situations at different stages in their life’s. So no one even in the same school year really will be the same or react the same towards things. But it's easy to feel and put that society expect pressure on ourselves because this is how things are told to us or we are lead to believe. However you should allow yourself to feel whatever you naturally feel towards things. Let yourself processes through that and learn to become what and how you would like to be as a person. I really hope you don’t mind and I am going to be a hypocrite here after saying other people try to help then don’t…. I am going offline now; I really hope you don’t mind after me replying to you by me going offline. Only because I got to go to the college tomorrow for interview for a course and its 22:15 in UK now so going to try and get some sleep. I will be thinking of you and wish you all the best and hopefully a good night’s sleep for you too ![]() |

Glowiebird,
Melatonin is a hormone that is secreted in the brain, I know several people who have taken it and found it to be helpful. Here is some information on it http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/melatonin-000315.htm I understand your reluctance to take medication, I have felt that way many times. Maybe just look into it in case you continue to experience insomnia. ![]() Hope you are sleeping better...
