Glad to hear.

I'm still trying to get back to working out. I have a specialist appointment in December was hoping to have lost some weight but it's not looking good

Eleven pounds is a nice number. Congratulations! I'm trying to lose as well. I have to rely on diet right now. I'm not able to walk for more than a couple of minutes. I wish you more success.

Htoun, sorry you're struggling.

Dellia, welcome to my thread, and good luck with your diet. I'm really not able to walk more than about 5 minutes at a time, either.

Well, I'm happy - I'm under 200. Was 198 when I weighed myself this morning. Now shooting to be 190 or lower for my physical on the 22'nd.

Still no motivation to exercise.

It's been really busy here. Hubby is on a business trip so I'm trying to clean out my closets. Plus keep up on the house work. The ex-family is still trying to con me it is getting harder to have any patients and not yell nasty things at her. I was out of my thyroid pills for a couple of days so I was dragging and I have a head cold. No one has invented a new cold med I checked as I haven't been able to take them since the 80's. Stuck with hot showers and buckleys (it taste bad but it works )

Still haven't found the motivation to exerciser. So I am moving slower and slower muscles are beginning to charley horse. I am really becoming cranky and whiny

htoun,

Sorry you're sick and struggling. Family can be so annoying at times. Hope things get better.

I'm still doing ok on the diet front, dropped another couple of lbs.

Doubt I'll be down to 190 by the time of my GP appointment so I'm now shooting for 195.

Sounds like you're pretty dedicated on the diet front. That's excellent. Do you prepare all your meals? I find I have a hard time cause I don't always have the energy to prepare my food.

I am pretty dedicated on the diet piece. I'm largely following the Mayo Clinic Diet, which is all about portion control and eating healthy, so it's pretty easy to follow once you get used to it.

I do do most of my own cooking, it's something I mostly enjoy and I can't really afford to eat out often.

I do splurge and order a pizza or wings once a week, on Fridays, which is kind of my treat day, but other than that I'm careful about what I eat.

Of course if I go out to a nice restaurant all diet bets are off for the meal -I'm going to enjoy myself, but I'll make sure I get right back on the diet the next day.

Sounds like my kind of diet. I splurge on pizza and wings every once in a while. I am trying carb cycling. But I can't fix all the meals. Maybe I will look at the Mayo Clinic Diet and do a mix of prepared meals and cooking. Hopefully that would work. Thanks for sharing!

I ordered a veggie platter from my grocery store when I went shopping. And last night when I had my snack attack, I ate veggies instead. They were great and satisfying. I think I will do that from now on. I will try the mayo clinic but after the holidays. But now I can add more fruits and vegetables.

Eating more fruits and veggies is a great place to start. Good idea on ordering the veggie platter.

I hear you on not starting a diet before the holidays, they just making sticking with a diet that much harder. I know I want to make shortbread cookies for Christmas, except I don't want to pig out on them, and I have no one really who I can give them to. So I'll probably just go ahead and make them and otherwise be careful about what I'm eating.

Yes, just use portion control. Maybe use little baggies and put a serving size in each one. Another option is to do a random act of kindness. Give some cookies to the fire department, mail carrier or hair stylist. I wish I could bake, I would give some cookies away and have a few for myself.

Today I feel great. I've lost 7 pounds. I feel lighter and can move so much easier. The vegetables have really helped. Also, I cut out the cheese. I still have a little. Just one or two servings a day instead of 8. I might try to walk a little today. But it won't be very far. Hope everyone is doing well.

Deilla, That's great. 7 lbs is awesome. Glad the fruits & veggies helped.

I'm not having much success, I'm fluctuating around between 195 and 201, and I went to my first Christmas party last night & just couldn't resist desert.

I think I'm just going to be careful between now and January, and get serious again in Jan.

Deilla congrats

Splitimage I hear ya. Hubby is home for the weekend he backed Butter Tarts today. They are so very good but not great for weight loss.

I was at the thyroid drs this week. I have lost a couple of pounds since the last visit. It's better than a gain. I was complaining that I felt very very dry (my skin my eyes my mouth). He wants my dr to get me tested for Sjogren's syndrome so I have an appointment later this month to see about that. The kicker is it can cause all the dryness as well as effect the thyroid and make you tired. I really don't need an other thing that effects the thyroid and makes me tired. Some days if I moved any slower I would be going backwards! Can we say frustration! I have had problems with dry everything for years and years. Like all my life. Getting tired of all this.

htoun,

ohh butter tarts. Yumm. My absolute favourite, but really bad for the diet. I have my grandmother's recipe for them, and they're awesome, but I don't dare make them as I'd eat them all.

Sorry to hear you may have something else affecting your thyroid, that's got to be frustrating.

I'm still hovering between 195 and 200. I've decided I am going to bake shortbread for Christmas, but only one batch. And I'll get serious about my diet in Jan.

Hello everyone,

I’m new to this thread. I was put on a med last Oct 2016 and a year later I’ve put on weight. I take two other meds that put weight on me but I was managing it. Now I’m at 263 and I’m trying to get serious about getting this weight back off. I started back using My Fitness Pal mobile app. Today I went mall walking with my daughters. I used my Apple Watch to log activity. We walked for two hours. My calorie in take was 1,470. I grew up in a southern country cooking family. The meals were comfort foods. I’ve decided to checkout a Weight Watchers cookbook from my local library. If I like many of the recipes I will purchase the book from Barnes and Noble or Amazon.

Welcome Coccosurviving.

I hear you on the meds weight gain - it's frustrating. I really like the weight watchers' program. I'd go, except I can't really afford it.

I've been consistently at 198 for the last week, so I feel like I can say I've broken the 200 barrier. I have a Dr. appointment in late Jan. so I'm going to shoot to be down to 190 for it.

Still have resisted baking shortbread, and now feel like I may not bother. I'm just not feeling very festive.

Hey Cocosurviving

Splitimage congrats on holding steady.

Hubby is away with work and our daughter can't come home for Christmas. They are the ones with the Christmas spirit. So the tree just went up. No cookies baked, hopefully I can get some done this week. Fortunately the grandson is happy and doesn't really like cookies (I know weird eh).

Hello there,

Thanks for the reply. I have a friend that did WW last year. She lost 35 lbs. I also can not afford it but I want to incorporate some of the program in my lifestyle. I have cookbooks but there definitely not healthy. Lol. I’m in charge of a pineapple cream cake for a holiday dinner. I hope to feel motivated to cook by the end of the week. Congrats on breaking the 200 barrier. It was a struggle when I did it three years ago. Then I started a new med and gained it back plus more. I’m going to think positive. I know I can do this again, it just takes time.

Hi Htoun,

My tree just went up too. My 11 year old wanted it up so I agreed to help. I’m glad your grandson is happy.

Hi everyone,

Today I run errands for about and hours worth of walking per (Apple Watch). I logged my food in MFP and so far I’m at 1,537 calories. Once I get the WW cookbook I can prepare food with lower calories. I’m going to go to Amazons website and see if it list what some of the food is in the cookbook.

Take care everyone

Htoun, sorry you're not really into the Christmas spirit. Neither am I. I will however make my Mom's recipe shortbread.

Coco - good for you for all the walking. That's something I need to start doing.

Still holding stead at around 198. Seem to be at a bit of a plateau, so I think I really need to attempt to add exercise in.

Hi everyone,

It’s 2:57 AM and I’m still up. Yesterday I walked 45 minutes. MFP was 2,080 calories. I’m going to make a pineapple cream pie for Christmas. And a cherry cheese cake for Kwanzaa.

I just wanted to come on here and encourage everyone to keep up the good work. Faltering now and then is part of the process for many...just don't give up. Persistence in the key. Be patient with yourself. Right now I am on par to be at my first goal by the end of February. Discipline, especially regarding diet and exercise, has NEVER been my forte, but in early Nov I got bloodwork that spiked my motivation and have maintained that spike in motivation for almost 2 months, to get my $#!t together. I have allowed very small cheats twice, but I work very hard to get back on track, and it doesn't screw me up too much. Anyway, keep up the good work. Hope this was ok.

Hello everyone,
Today I attended 1 of 2 holiday parties. I have not put my foods in MFP yet. I have great news! I ordered a Weight Watchers cookbook from eBay. It will be here the first week of Jan. I’m really excited. I need to get better meal ideas. Today I focused on coping skills and self-care. I was trying to get ready to relax and socialize with family. Things went well I had very little anxiety.
