I tried kefir before and didn't care for it. Haven't tried kombucha.

This morning, I did pilates, luckily a pretty easy one in the beginner's playlist queue. Planked pushups and planks. I have lost a little weight jus a couple lb., not much, but my shape has changed quite a bit, I guess from the exercise; a lot of my shorts that were pretty fitted are loose now.

I'm restarting my weight loss app over. The Lose It one. I put my weight at 226 which was what it was this morning, and answered a few questions and my calorie goal is 1,679. The app says I'll reach my goal of 180 on August 26th. Its the afternoon hunger I'm having issues with now. But I'm still really motivated which is good.

Did my 7.2 mi power walk. Definitely did not feel up to starting it this morning as I went to bed late last night and didn't get enough sleep. But once I had the first mile behind me, things went well. Glad I wore gloves though. The temp was in the low 50s and with low humidity, it's enough to flare up my Raynaud's. Even with gloves it was a bit rough on my hands.

Did some plank practice and some pushups and hope to repeat that this afternoon

@Crazy Hitch You should add some fruit and veg to your lunch. A small orange or half an apple sliced (if you put some lemon juice on the apple slices they will not turn brown). Celery, baby carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, spinach...get those vitamins and fiber in. Two rices cakes with cottage cheese is still not enough calories to count as a meal especially if you are still skipping breakfast. It is not good to skip breakfast as breakfast is the meal that gets your metabolism up and running; just do a Slimfast shake or something; they are not bad if you refrigerate them. Even then you should add something; yogurt, berries, a few more calories. Undereating just slows your metabolism. There are good recipes online to make a quick omelet/quiche in the microwave in a mug with egg spinach cheese for breakfast, and it is not bad calorie wise and quite tasty; I have done it in the past.

And I do wonder if you would be helped by taking the birth control pill if your cycles are all over the place and not regular. What is your age if I can ask? I know for some people the pill makes bipolar worse but for others it helps, and I can't help but wonder if having regular cycles might help you. Couldn't hurt to try?

Thanks so much. When I go to the store this weekend I’ll stock up on some cucumbers and tomatoes etc for my lunch and buy an orange or two.

I’m 46 soon to be 47. My gp prescribed some perimenopause pill or other that I don’t take. I don’t like the links to breast cancer so I don’t take it. And I know before she prescribed Wegovy she asked if I was on it because there’s some type of interaction or other on it.

So you're about my age. I just turned 47. Yeah being in perimenopause can def. cause issues with your periods. Mine still turn up every 28 days but just are super light. I had wondered if you were younger, in your 30s or something with PCOS the pill might be beneficial but at 46, I just don't know. Like you said the links to breast cancer. And I know the hormones on the regular pill made it seem like I had bipolar and borderline and mixed and all sorts of SHYT. So I'm not going on hormones if I can help it even if I have had what I think were a couple of hot flashes AND am losing the hair on my head at a rate faster than it's growing in. At least I'm blonde, the gray shows less.

You really should add an exercise routine, boring as it is. And who cares if students see you walking? Wear headphones and just crank up the music so you don't hear. Or there's the trick of walking in the dark. Not the safest, but I absolutely love it. My eyes get sensitive to light, part of just being blue and partly from the Seroquel I think. I LOVE night walking. Not the safest, but maybe you have somewhere it is possible. Or try the pilates vidoes or treadmill. It's hard to start exercising but after sticking with it a week or two, you start noticing the benefits. And it WILL increase your metabolism.

I think @Tart Cherry Jam has talked some about exercise changing her body shape even if her weight hasn't changed as much as she'd like? Though maybe by now she's lost more; some of her workouts would have done me in!

The Tiny Habits book explains well what happens to us when, initially feeling really motivated, we expect that level of motivation to persist over time. It further explains what to do to continue going even when we lack strong motivation. A very useful and practical approach

I was just talking with my trainer that when people tell me that I have lost weight, but I have lost very little if anything, I conclude that I must have gained muscle definition, which is a good thing. He agreed!

Regarding the hormones: if this is about HRT, then there weren't more breast cancer deaths in the Women's Health study in the estrogen arm than in the control. There were more cases (not a lot more), but not more deaths. I think estrogen in HRT is really important for us because we take antipsychotics and other medications that can cause tardive dyskinesia over time dropping estrogen levels predispose postmenopausal women to tardive dyskinesia.

I have been on lowest dose estrogen in the form of patches for 2.5 years. In Perimenopause now, a late bloomer here who also finishes late. I learned that HRT is safer and more effective if started earlier, before 60, within 10 years of menopause, and ideally preventatively. So I went on it preventatively. The gynecologist and I looked at the risks and benefits and concluded that with my profile, there were more benefits than risks. Even though there were a few more breast cancer cases in the estrogen arm, there were also fewer osteoporosis cases, and a few other good things. So on balance, it was better to start on it. But I do not have breast cancer genes.

I was 223.4 today. I did a lot of push ups yesterday and I ate decently. I feel better emotionally at least. I also started sulcrafate for my stomach which I've read can cause some weight loss.

Its also a weird med because you have to take it on an empty stomach 1 hour before you have eaten. Or 2-3 hours after you have eaten. And I take it 4 times a day.

I am on two such things, Levoxyl and Iron. Both have to be taken at least 2 hours after a meal and 30-60 minutes before. But Levoxyl has to be taken alone. So, since I get hungry often, it is hard for me to find two such windows during a 24 hour period

I did 600 push ups today with my ab roller. I'm around 900 calories so far. I'm not sure what I'll be eating today. I have some swedish pancakes. I didn't have any V8 today so my sodium is fine.

I feel kinda dumb. I didn't realize you weren't supposed to eat back the calories you burned. I had my weight loss app set all wrong. Now its set at a certain amount of calories and the calories I've burned haven't been added in.

No wonder I'm not losing. Lol.

Now that I didn't eat back the calories I ate I'm down 4.6 pounds through working out and eating less. I did 700 reps this morning with my ab roller which I think is enough. I had 5 Ritz crackers, some apple slices, and a protein shake for breakfast.

I finished the 5 serving bag of peeled apple slices and my mom said "you ate the whole bag?"

Theres worse things to eat entire bags of...

I still have almost 900 calories left of my daily goal.

I did my long 7.2 mi power walk this morning. At one point, it started sprinkling, and I thought I'd have to come in from the rain, but luckily, it stopped. Quite warm and humid out though; I was very sweaty when I came in!

Practiced pushups and planks; I am getting pretty strong upper arms!

I went from 221.4 yesterday to 221.8 today. Its still better then 226. I had soup yesterday which has a lot of sodium.

I took the carafate as soon as I got up. Then an hour later I had 5 Ritz crackers for carbs and a 30gram protein shake.

Kinda feeling that constipation.

I did 10 min on the treadmill and also a 30 min walk outside today trying to make walking outside and the treadmill both a daily thing. Eventually I want to build back up to 30 min on the treadmill. I’m just getting back in the swing of things after a hiatus from exercising

I weighed myself again a few hours later and I was 221.2.
So far today I've about 1000 calories with about 600 left. I'm not sure what else I'll eat today.

@Tart Cherry Jam - That workout would do me in, and I'm at a pretty good fitness level!

I did pilates this morning. The video said it was beginners, but it was a hard beginners at that, made worse by the last plank segment because I was wearing socks, and it would have been easier barefoot. Next time I get around to that video, I hope I remember. Luckily, I have 9 more videos before I loop back to that one!

Practiced planks and pushups, need to do more this afternoon. Kind of feeling blah phsyically from my period which decided to show up 5 days early

You are restricting and your posts are triggering. Eating too little is not the way to go with weight loss.
