D was supposed to go in to get her tonsils out this week.. Took her to the doctor today because she has been sick on and off for three weeks and her surgeon wanted a clean bill of health before the surgery.. Instead they cancelled her surgery, and are scheduling a brain MRI for sometimes in the next two weeks.. And a bunch of blood work.. Commence freak out.

Can someone please tell me everything will work out and I will make it until tomorrow? I'm struggling believing myself when I say it right now.

RIGHT! And more important is this the example YOU want your children to see? Is this the kind of marriage YOU want your children to have? You have the power to change this.

I'm so sorry, aaa. I wish there were anything I could say or do to help. I do not see you as broken, at all. Bruised and hurting but not brokjen. (I understand that it is how it feels, and I understand the feeling. I'm just giving my perspective, not trying to invalidate yours. )

Thanks for asking. I am also alive - survived T this morning (thank you to all pocket riders ).

A couple of weeks ago I read Kate Atkinson's latest, Life After Life. Really good novel. I like Atkinson's books and this is probably th best one she's written. It is about a woman who lives her life several times - she doesn't know it, she's not born with the knowledge that she's been there before, but she gets a lot of deja vu sensations, and the way different scenarios are played out differently based on chance or choice is really interesting and well-written. Right now I'm reading a fantasy series by an author called Mike Shevdon, and I like these books a lot, too. He writes fantasy set in contemporary Britain, with a lot of British folklore interwoven - very dark and realistic books, but not hopelessly so. I get Neil Gaiman vibes, though Gaiman is more ruthless (and a more polished writer - Shevdon has only published four novels so far, but he writes really well I think.)

Hi Mast. Have been thinking about you all morning - glad you survived your session this morning. Hope it went well?

Thank you so much for your support. It means so much. I just feel so numb today and kind of not really connecting. Unable to function although I am at work and no-one has any clue what I am feeling! I don't even feel like I am really 'here' if that makes sense although i have so much to do I think my head will soon implode!

Thanks again for your support.

Wow, this is exactly what my T said to me this morning: "What is it that has you all tied up in little knots today?" (I couldn't answer. I can't say anything that might lead him to respond in a way that might make me feel better. Life doesn't work like that.)

I so much hope that your T will come through for you today, granite.

Thank you. It didn't really go that well, because I couldn't make myself talk very much. I'm so screwed up I can't even talk to my T.

I hate that numb feeling, like you're not really present. I know it intimately. Take care of yourself - could you try writing down how you feel, when you get home? I don't know if verbalising your thoughts like that would be helpful.

Happy to hear you survived T. I read that you didn't really think it went well but I hope you feel better about it soon.

Life After Life sounds interesting. I've never heard of it before.

Do you like Neil Gaiman's books? I've only read one so far. The Ocean At the End of the Lane (have you read it?). I read it quite recently and I really quite liked it so I purchased Neverwhere and Coraline & Other Stories a few weeks ago but I haven't read them yet. Been too busy with the first book in A Song of Ice and Fire (A Game of Thrones) and some other books. I'm in some kind of phase where I read a lot of fiction, which usually doesn't happen very often. I'm more of non-fiction kind of person. I usually read a lot of non-fiction and then read fiction when I'm too tired to really think (does that make sense?) but lately it's been the other way around. More fiction and less books about the brain etc.
Thanks for this!

I do like Gaiman's books. I haven't read The Ocean... yet, but I have it both as a paper book and as an e-book, and will definitely read it. I like Neverwhere a lot, and his short stories, too... I think my favourite among his books is Stardust.
Have to admit I lost interest in Game of Thrones after two books. They were gripping while I read them, but I forgot the plot very quickly and so never got back to reading them. GRRM is a bit too fond of details for my taste.

Do you read a lot of e-books? Have you watched the movie Stardust? Is the book better than the movie? (Sorry for all the questions.)

I really liked A Game of Thrones. I've got A Clash of Kings as well but since it's such a long book I thought I'd read a few others before starting that one. You're right when you say that George R.R. Martin likes details. I've noticed he likes to describe what people are wearing a lot of the time, which doesn't really interest me. I do, however, like the story and I like the TV-series as well. We'll see if I'll read all the books in the series or not. I'll at least give it a go.

Do you watch the series? Game of Thrones I mean.

There can never be too many questions about books. (Just like how one can never have too many books.)

I read a fair amount of e-books. Maybe two thirds of what I read is on paper, the rest on my e-book reader (which I've only had for about five months, mind you.) Have you read any e-books? I was surprised at how much I liked it, actually. and how easy it is to read on the screen of a dedicated e-book reader.

I've seen the movie Stardust and I liked it a lot. I prefer the book, but that's almost always true for me, when it comes to books made into films. I have to admit that I don't like the TV series Game of Thrones at all - most of my friends seem to like it a lot, so it's clearly not a bad series, but I can't get past all the sex and the violence, and I stopped watching after two episodes. H plans to watch the rest of season one, at least.

I haven't really read any e-books. Well, I read one book on my computer once (The curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon) but I thought that was really annoying. It's probably better if you've got a Kindle or something but in my opinion nothing beats a real printed book. I like the smell of books, I like the feel of them and I like having them on my shelves etc (I've got quite a few books now). Do you know what I mean?

Yes, Game of Thrones contains a lot of sex and a lot of violence but I like it anyway. One thing I really like about it (if people reading this post have read the books that are out so far, please don't spoil anything) is that you never really know who's going to "win" in the end. You can't really get too attached to the characters because you have no clue who's actually going to survive. It's not really a story where there's this one "good guy" who you pretty much know is going conquer all evil. It's more "realistic" than that (though of course it's not realistic at all since it's fictional). Does that make sense?

Do you like classics? I might've asked you that before. I'm currently reading Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. Have you read it?

EDIT: Also, do you mostly read in Swedish or in English?
