It is comming really clear in my recall, how sick cigerettes first made my body. I remember like yesterday, how I puked from my first packs of Salems and Kools, espeially Kools. I remember like yesterday, the bed was spinning around and around as I lay on it faintly breathing an hardly feeling half alive. My cheeks were flushed, my head was pounding like a brick hitting it every 120 seconds. Remembering how I once felt when I first started makes it easier for me today to smoke one less cigerette than before, maybe even more.

Wow....sounds like some powerful cigarettes you had there, lol. I didn't have that reaction. I loved them from the start....but I'm already noticing a difference in my breathing, just from cutting back so much. I really feel like this is going to work this time. The timing thing is working unbelievably well. 16 minutes to go....mornings are the hardest. I moved the timer up to an hour and 10 minutes today.

Smelling that ashtray in my car will turn anyone's stomach and has been somewhat reinforcement for me to think!
I just keep telling myself that I can do it!

Everyone is doing so good. Trying to quit smoking.... Keep up the great work!!!!

You know, I find the inspirations to quit in the smallest things.
Like the way my one dog sneezes whenever I light up and the other one hides her nose under a blanket or a pillow.

The way I feel embarrassed being seen by passer-byers, having to stand outside in the rain to smoke a cigarette.

Having to stuff my face with gum, rubbing scented moisterizer on my hands and spraying a perfume spritzer on my clothes and hair after I smoke a cigarette so I don't stink.

Looking in the mirror for those wrinkles around my lips. Wondering when they're going to start showing up.

Being able to laugh hard without coughing.

I seem to be holding at 2 smokes a day. I only have 4 left so that means I'll be out of cigarettes by Saturday morning. I'm thinking-I won't go to the store to get cigarettes. I'm not going to panic. If I do then I'll come on here. I have nicorette gum for an emergency. I can do this. I won't go "big" food shopping this weekend so then I can't pig out on tons of food.

I was up last night until 3 am. I ended up smoking 4 1/2 smokes yesterday. So, today I only had 2 cigarettes left. I got panicky and I've already smoked them both. I now have no more cigarettes. Trying to quit smoking.... I'm freaking. I want to run to the store and get more but I won't.
I know I'm going to be pigging out like crazy. I got lots of food today and it wasnt fruits and veggies like I had thought I would. I got pistashios, dried fruit, those healthy yogurt granola bars and those Necco wafer candies. I've already eaten all of the wafers and I'm really chowing down on the pistacios. I gotta stop eating so much.
When I panic, I eat. And I am really eating a lot. To make matters worst-Aunt Flow came to visit me today and I got hardly any sleep last night. Urg.
I'll have exercise today. I was hoping I could take a day off but if I dont exercise I'm going to get really mad at myself for being so undesciplined.
How is everyone else doing?

Oh hon, you're sure having a rough go!! But you're doing fantastic. Don't kick yourself too much for eating. You're not smoking, and that is the goal! You won't eat like this forever.

Yesterday I had 13 cigarettes. One more then the last two days. I was home all day, which makes it a little harder. Today I've had 3....I've set the timer for 2 hours today. Up from an hour and 10 minutes. I'm feeling energetic today, did my Pilates workout and then it was really nice and cool outside from a morning storm so I walked around my apartment complex 3 times. Just from cutting out over half my cigarettes, I'm noticing a change in my breathing, and I don't get winded so fast. My quitting goal is to be smoke-free by the end of the year, but sooner would be great also! I have pool league tonight....that's gonna be interesting, being in a smoke filled pool hall....wish me luck!

Well I smoked 15 more today. I got stopped my the cops yesterday, because I was so angery during withdraw that I angerly pressed on the gas and flipped the bird to the guy in the truck behind me who beeped at each of the stop lights that turned green because He did not think I was going fast enought when the light changed.

Cop did a sobriety check and harrassed me wanting to also check the strengeh of my medication and desired to give me a dui ticket until i explained I was trying to quit cigs and than he let me go with a warning to calmly drive or else.

Isn't there a thread on anger somewhere in the site. I took notes on it yesterday and better reread those notes myself before too long. rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

well tomorrow I am not going to light up. I am the one that had mentioned how sickening my first experiences with cigs was and I need to quit bad because it is so expensive as well as having bad health problems and it make s my depression worse because I sometimes get real real tired for no reason at all and don't get stuff done much anymore due to being worn out for no reason

Hi razeljenny, I went through the same thing with the irritation phase. It was really bad for awhile but it did pass. Good luck on not smoking ANY tomorrow. I'm going to do that too. I have gone without a cigarette for a whole day and have been fine but I always go through periods of feeling like something is missing. Especially after I eat.

Hi Ray,
Thanks for the words of encouragement.
Good luck tonight, Ray!!!! You'll probably smoke a little more then you have been but you can always cut back again tomorrow. It sounds like you're doing really good. Hang in there!!!

Hey Ray...less than 25 is a step in the process of quitting!
For anyone on this post who tries...well that is a success story right there.
If we smoke less each day we will one day reach our goal of not smoking. Whether it takes 1 day, 1 month or 1 year. As long as we keep the support going for each other I think the encouragement and challenge is what can help!
Proud of us all!

For me, the patch is a god send. I've actually quit four times over a 10 year span for a year each (being pregnant), so, I say that I'm not so much addicted to the nicotine but the act itself. I need to find things to replace that. Where is Pavlov when you need him......

On an awesome note, my team came in first place last night, making us DIVISION CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!

Hi Everyone,
Congrats Ray!! Trying to quit smoking....

I haven't smoked for about 21 hours now. I get sudden cravings for a smoke but then it goes away in about a minute and if it doesn't then I pop a piece of Nicorette gum in my mouth. I don't chew on it for long with it not tasting too good and I feel like I'm getting more nicotine out of it then needed.
I still feel soooo fat. I've been exercising everyday and I've been trying my best to watch what I eat but I still feel like a big plop of lard. I don't get fat in the cool places either-like my boobs, butt or thighs-no, it goes right to my stomache and I have small boobs so the fat on my tummy gets really emphasized by my flat chest. It's irking the heck out of me. I wish I was the type of woman who's getting fat means getting volumptuous, like a lot of women I know. arg!
Anyway-whenever I look in the mirror I want to light up and live on cigarettes and diet soda. I hate being fat with a passion.
By the way-my Aunt Flo is with me so I'm a little crankier than usual.
If I can get through the rest of the day without running to the corner store-I'll be soooo proud of myself.

I could really go for a cigarette right now. I keep breathing in deep and I'm not stuffing my face and I'm not craving nicotine so I'm not chewing the nicorette gum but I want to inhale the smoke and blow it out. I miss that.
I would really, really like a cigarette right now.

Thanks Rayaandi,
I took your advice and grabbed a Tootsie roll pop and I'm drinking lots of water and I am feeling better.
I don't have any sugar free candy in my house right now. And I'm so tired of nuts and dried fruit. Only, I have cavities that need to be filled and this Tootsie roll pop is not going to do me any good. I just lost my appetite for it and now I have an overwhelming urge to brush my teeth.
Thanks Tanya for your support and again Rayaandi for your advice.
I think I'm going to be okay. I'll be back if the urge flares up again.

I set the timer for 2 hours today. I have about 20 minutes to go.....going crazy. But I'm determined to stick to increasing the time daily. Maybe 2 hours was too big a jump. I went from an hour and 10 minutes up to 2 hours. I dunno....this is still working like a charm though. I've never been able to cut back like this.

Congrats Jax on getting passed that craving. You're awesome!

Hi Rayaandi,
I'm too late but you can do it!!!!!! I hope you stuck it out. If not-that's okay, I kinda goofed too. Don't be too upset with me. NO-I haven't smoked a cigarette BUT I did go out and buy a pack. They're still not opened. I know-I'm a dummy. I couldn't help it. My belly kept looking and feeling bigger and bigger to me and I needed to do something to make it stop.
Trying to quit smoking....
Let's see how long I can go without opening up the pack of cigarettes.

I made it to the 2 hour mark. It was hard but I did it.

It's ok if you mess up, we're human! This is the hardest habit to break, don't kick yourself too hard if you don't make it the first time. As long as you don't go back to smoking as much as before, I see it as a success, and your body is slowly learning how to do without. I'm not upset with you at all!!!!
