Hi All,

I am curious to know if other ladies on the PC boards are into physical fitness and exercise. So here's my list of questions:

1. How often do you exercise during the week?

2. What are your favorite types of exercise?

3. Do you feel that exercise helps you with your moods?

Here are my answers:

1. I walk 4 miles a day, 5 days a week and lift weights 4 times a week

2. My favorite exercise is walking. I also enjoy lifting weights. If lived in a warm weather climate such as Hawaii, I think I would probably swim year around as I actually like swimming better than walking!

3. Definitely! It reduces stress and postively enhances my moods, improves my sleep, and helps me to maintain my weight in a healthy range.

I use to be able to kick but' at the gym, but sadly I stopped going after I broke my foot while working out and then again a year later after jumping through a window at work... but when I did go to the gym for almost three years I loved to use the free weights.

1. How often do you exercise during the week?

I walked the lake (3 miles) three times a week
I worked out at the gym (1.5 hr) four times a week

2. What are your favorite types of exercise?

Leg Press was my best and most favorite exercise by far -

3. Do you feel that exercise helps you with your moods?

Yes-Yes-Yes... as I had more energy and I felt so so good about ME
(the me I was recreating and forming again)

I don't necessarily exercise with a daily regimen. I probably end up walking anywhere from 2-5 miles per day just in between classes on campus. And my bf and I play wii and box each other, play tennis etc... Plus when it's warmer outside I love to go hiking and fishing and (because I'm a nerd) I also go wading in rivers/lakes around the area looking for aquatic insects for my Masters research. So all in all I guess you could say I exercise but not like going to the gym. I just prefer to have an active lifestyle.

But I do notice that when I am really busy and have to eat fast food a lot or I'm out of school on break and not walking everywhere I start to feel much more tired and exhausted. I think the fast food has a bigger effect on me than does not exercising.

i was a college jock and a law enforcement officer in another life...now i'm disabled.that said...i love working out.i joined a gym in december and go 4-5 times a week. i do 30-40 minutes on the treadmill each time. also i lift weights.i am fat..so weight loss is a partial goal but really i am looking to regain the strenght i had in my previous life. it made such a difference in my mental health and well being and up until the past year even tho i wasn't physically fit i still felt "strong."last year due to overmedication by my doc's i lost almost a whole year of memory and my life so it is important to regain control. plus i fell and injured my shoulder. so the gym is playing a huge part in my regaining control.this year my pdoc has noticed the change...i can now see him every 2 months instead of once a month. my t is impressed with the changes too as is my regular doc.i have lost almost 40 pounds since august, ,lowered my pulse, lowered some of my meds and feel much better.my favorite part of my workout is using the weight machines.in fact my regular doc told me i am getting "stocky" the other day...which for probably anybody else would not be a compliment but for fat ol' me...that is a great one...she said..."i can see your muscles!"stumpy is a happy camper once again

I go outside almost every day. So I walk for exercise, but I don't keep track of the time, I just walk sometimes until it gets dark, sometimes beyond that. I climb things, trees, mostly, so I guess that is exercise too.

I do think the exercise makes me happier. Being outside makes me happy. And if I get stuck inside too long I get irritated.

I do cardio 3-5 times a week I don't like weight lifting but I am trying to make myself do it, I quit smoking in 2006 with a minor relapse over this past xmas 2008. When I originally quit smoking I was not working out and got chubby/fat , so now Im working out 7 days a week and trying to also add weightlifting to get in shape for the summer as I have a big vacation planned to hawaii. But normally I only run or do cardio.

You are all doing great!

I too exercise.

4 times a week at my favorite movement studio

and now, I'm getting my pool ready...

It is going to be a fierce year for me, as I have learned so much.. from different venue of health affirming movements, I'm delighted.

I go to a qi gong class for an hour once a week
I go to a private session with my yoga, gyrokenesis instructor 1 hr. a week
I go to a mixed bag of movements, including yoga, qi gong, gyro, and self-breema for 90 minutes a week
I go to a gyro class once a week

on top of this, I do things at home, like work that lymphatic system and circulatory system by bouncing about on my pilates ball... even when I watch an HBO show, I might bounce. I try to do it every day, 15 min. on and 15 off for an hour.

I just got a hula-hoop... you know what that means... practice keeping it up on my waist, lol.

I also will swim at least 4-5 days a week when my pool is primed and ready, wheather permitting, which will take about a few weeks to get ready.

The best thing I ever did in my pool was qi gong... . it's like almost outer-worldly doing qi gong and some yoga moves in the water!

I mean this truly, I love it.

Besides it being good for your over-all health, it is great to aide healing for cancer.

So, can I tell you how happy I am that the seasons are changeing and the best weather for work-outs are just around the corner!!!

laaaaa

sounds like angels singing, lol.

Keep up the good work you wonderful people, as you will inspire those here who haven't given this healthy, completely organic, toxic free modality of all that is health a chance yet... let's spread the word... it's free, to begin with... and you can do it at your own pace, and most important, your body (filled with tiny cells) will love you for giving it the oxygen it needs to resist illness and combat invading 'bad-boy' cells.

Best to all of you!!!!

Peace and Love,
Nightbird

1. How often do you exercise during the week?

ive recently been going to the gym. i like the gym. its good for stress relief, and i can think things over. often, when i have a dilemma, i can sort it while im in the gym. i usually go at least once a week. but it varies.

2. What are your favorite types of exercise?

i tend to stick to weight training. i like the idea of being strong. its funny really, i seem to be the only girl in the gym who uses the weights. im surrounded by men covered in tattoos and built like sheds. kinda makes me giggle.

3. Do you feel that exercise helps you with your moods?

i think honestly, the gym almost replaces SI, in my view. it releases endorphins, and i feel like im improving something. so, in a way its better. i dont leave any scars, and i dont have to regret doing it.

i used to exercise, but i don't really anymore.

of course i walk around - to the bus stop, at uni, walk my dogs etc, but i consider that mainly incidental exercise.

i used to run 6km maybe 3 times a week. it definitely helped with my mood. just in terms of being in control of something. but i find it hard to get motivated about doing it, and it's not my biggest concern atm, so i have let it slide.

"go to a gyro class once a week"

umm...i eat a gyro once a week...besides doing my workouts....does that count???

whats a gyro workout? (sorry to sound ignorant)

i bhad a wonderful experience at my gym this week...i was with the trainer and we were trying to go over some stretches that were adaptable to my physical needs (ie forzen joints) and she said show me how you would stretch a calf so i did...leaning against a wall...she said push..so i did. the wall tipped over.

oops. i broke the gym.

got to tell you tho. it is amazing the amount of respect you command once you knock a wall down (even tho it turned out it was just a partition wall)...short fat woman breaks wall. all the muscle heads now respect me! i am strong for a woman...just didn't know i was that strong!

Hi,

I jog 8 rounds of track and do some yoga on regular basis. This keeps me fit and energetic.
