Walking in the mall and in grocery stores counts as 'being active' Perna!!!

Sitting in front of the TV isn't active, but sitting vs laying down watching TV burns more calories!

Hurting in your bed while trying to sleep is the pits. It not only makes you feel awful, it robs you of a good nights sleep, which we all need. Hope you figure it out and make it go away. For me one of the things that helps me is the low impact stretching both in AM and PM. I do them infront of the TV

Walked the dog and did some obedience training with him along the way. I'll go get a bottle of water in a minute, just thought about that. Then go sew and drink.

So was finally able to get out again and had signed up awhile ago for a class to change things up, took an Aikido class. It is a defensive martial art that was fascinating to watch and oh, was it fun and challenging. It will serve two purposes for a workout and some self defense, which is much needed for peace of mind and security. Definitely sore today though. I think the goal today will be to get through some light yoga to stretch things out.

I hope all is well with everyone's fitness goals.

Even though it was around the freezing mark outside today, I walked with Jack my 1 1/3 miles. There was no wind, so I didn't even get cold.

I gained over the last few days of last week, so now my - and my + are still at 1 pound lost! So for the month I'm only 1/2 pound off my 1 pound a week lose goal. I know why though.

When I don't stay active and eat too much, I'll gain.

Balance is what it is all about.

Good news: averaging 2-3 lbs a week. Happy with this.

Oooh, but so irked. Someone in aikido class decided they wanted to do the move THEIR way, thought it would be better, and my shoulder has taken the hit. He has been banned from class. Lovely, huh? So sidelined from some things; my goals today include: walking, crunches, and stairs.

Trying to keep the balance, like that Beholden,
and movin' and shakin'

Good for you Fresia

My goals are good, but my work toward them stinks lately. I haven't given up yet, but my weight for the month is only at negetive .5 pounds. Still have a week left in the month to work at it.

After all, it is the 'trend' 'over-time' that counts.

Today for lunch I will eat some of the bag of frozen mixed broc, cauli, carrots. Must start eatting more veggies!!!!

I walked Jack twice yesterday. but haven't done anything extra like my floor exercises or joining the taekwondo group I checked out in Jan. The hubster and I have a conflict with the only vehicle we have. The class I want to take is from 5 til 6pm. He works until 5 and so he either has to work late, figure out how to get to the class from someone at work, or arrange to leave work 30 minutes early. Or I need to find a ride to the class, which is very unlikely as it is at least 15-18 miles from home, but is close to where hubby works.

As he pointed out to me, his working trumps my elective exercise class.

So frustrated. I keep tweaking my shoulder and hurts like ----. I miss being able to move and I NEVER thought I'd hear that from me.

Because I have not been able to move as much, I cut more calories out: even smaller portions, more vegetables, cutting out sauces, and no treats at all. This is the last cut, I will not be cutting anymore, as I am down to the bare minimum the doc said would be ok. I will add some things back in when I can work out more again. However, weight has at least stayed the same though thankfully, but missing the weight loss and more frustrated. I need to heal so I can get moving more again.

Goal today: walking, crunches/lunges, and to remember NO upper body bouncing or arm movements!!!!

Better get cruisin!

Congratulations to everyone who's working on their goals! Sounds like some major inspiration!!

I started back on October 23rd. That's when I weighed the most and have lost, through diet, 22 pounds. I'm really pleased with myself from going from 'obese' to 'overweight'.

Now I want to bump up the challenge for myself and start some type of exercise plan to help me get the last 30 or so off.

I haven't chosen, yet, what I'll do; but think I'll go to Curves as that is something I enjoy (at least relatively). Working with weight resistance.
For Christmas I bought myself a Yoga dvd and there is a class on Friday mornings that I can get to with no problem; so I'll include that as well. Starting this coming Friday!

I've always dreamed of taking tae kwon do, but am afraid I'll get hurt as I'm not very agile. Guess I'll stick with weight resist and Yoga for now.....wish me plenty of motivation !! I may need it~
Thanks for this!

So sorry your shoulder is really hurting you Fresia. Hope it heals fast for you. That is so frustrating to have a body part hurt and keep you from doing what you want to do.

Today I weighed in with a total for the month: "Drumroll" 1 lost pound.

Better than having a total gain of 1 pound, so I'm ok with this little goal reached.

For the month of March, I will do better as the weather warms up and I can be outside more. Gardening and walking and I have kayaking to look forward to as we get into even warmer weather.

I haven't found a taekwondo location that will work for me yet. My firend who was 'maybe' going to go with me told me no, she didn't want to do that after all. Oh well.

Good going Sprite on the weight loss and lifestyle changes! Awesome! Have fun at the class Friday.

Shoulder is still tweaked so I decided I'm going to try some of the aerobics (Zumba) with out using my arms as I am bored to tears with walking now. Should be curious and funny to watch, but that is the goal today.

Wishing everyone well with their fitness goals.

Beholden,
Congrats the lb! It is good news. I agree it will be nice when the weather changes to be able to get out and do more, comfortably and with more scenery as well. So blah outside right now, except did see a fox the other day and last evening a coyote. They went on their ways but were both beautiful.

Zumba turns out, even modified was a terrible idea, too jarring. Back to walking for the time being. Really looking forward to better weather as 6-10 inches expected tomorrow, yikes. I saw a manual treadmill in a catalog; thinking it might be worth it as it was much less than the automatic ones, to supplement on bad weather days. The automatic are so expensive but has the advantage that could even train the pup to use it. With the timid/ shy dog, that will be a goal and an adventure in an of itself. Has worked with the others though. Miss having that as an option on snow days. Something to consider.

Does anyone have a manual treadmill and how do you like it?

Best wishes everyone.

When my 41 y/o daughter was training for her black belt in Taekwondo, she had shoulder troubles. Infact, she took her black belt testing with a torn rotator cuff! Had to take 4 weeks off I think it was. She didn't need surgery, as it wasn't a bad tear or healed on it's own with just resting it. Her f/u scans showed no tear anyway.

Maybe you just need to give it time to heal and not stress it anymore than just "normal daily living activies". Something non of us likes to hear when we are motivated to be extra active. to you and your shoulder.

Yesterdays Yoga went well. I learned, not just how flexible I'm not, but how agile I can become.

I ended up signing up for the five class deal and plan to go on Friday mornings regularly to give it a good try.

I really liked the gentleness of it; at the same time, my body was shakey with different poses so I know I was working on alot of strengthening. Great way to start the day!

Yeah Sprite.

I walked this morning, but it was cold. I did not really mind. Jack made cute poops and then we came home.

Thanks, Beholden~
I give you alot of credit for getting out there when it's cold !

I hit a wall, and was just 'maintaining' my weight soooo am going back to Weight Watchers' online to log those points in. It helped me tremendously so I know I should keep up with it.

I've decided to get out of a comfort zone and will start tomorrow.

In a neighboring town there is a meetup of people playing badminton!
Sooo I signed up and will join them.

I haven't played and am out of good shape, so it will really be a challenge--wish me hope it keeping my own.

Also, down another pound this week

Hope everyone is doing well, too, with their goals !!
Thanks for this!

Congratulations on the loss! Oh, what fun badminton, used to love playing this. I hope you enjoy it!

I have been doing my modified routine and trying to make the best of it while my shoulder heals. Looking for new things to do to change it up, but there is only so much to do with lower body. We had a few days like spring and it was heavenly to be out. Looking forward to when spring is really here. On that note, off to bundle up and hit the trails.

Good luck with y'all with your fitness goals.

Just started taking the new dog for walks, she can only go short distances though, walked about 2 kilometres in total with her today, but I had a game of soccer today too.
So overall a good day for exercise.

thanks, I could walk for miles but the dog is still only a pup so I have to pace her, soccer is great for exercise, last week was a great week for exercise because we had amazing weather in Ireland. Walked and played games with friends everyday.

We're having some pretty awesome weather in the NorthEast of the US, as well. Loving it!

Do you play soccer on a league or with friends?
Either way, you are out there putting the effort into it~ That's incredibley inspiring

I play soccer with friends, I don't have the time for a league with college work, I played rugby in a league this year but that's over now, not too sure if I'll go back to rugby next year, I got a bad shoulder after it lol.

Sorry to hear about the lousey shoulder out of the deal.

You stretch yourself with activities that some only dream of being energetic enough to try! I speak for myself !

I haven't had the motivation to kick a ball around since I was a little whipper-snapper

Do you get a good rush afterwards, like a runner, from exerting that much energy?
Thanks for this!

I love soccer. We have a women's league here that is starting up; I am looking forward to joining this summer as too it will be nice to be outside. Loving that the weather has changed, so lovely out and more that can do now.

Thanks y'all for the posts, definitely inspirational! I have been laying low with sickness but your posts have reminded me that there are things I can do in the interim even if they are not the usual routine, so thank for that.

Good luck with your fitness goals and we'll keep moving!
