Reading a measly 929 steps right now; will probably get to 1000 or a little more before bed, but still pitiful. 1597 calories, still heavy on the snacks. Staying around 1600 and losing very slowly is working (see previous post from this morning - a new low).

I have ate about 2000 calories. I estimated the calories for the hamburger and I think I am close. I walked 1974 steps. I will have to go on an at least two mile walk. I discovered that my new phone has both a pedometer and a heart rate features. Comparing this to my now two imitation Fitbit straps, there are substantial differences. There are significant pedometer readings. The Chinese Fitbits are also sometimes all over the place with the bpm. I cannot use my phone since it does not provide me with a running heart bpm reading. So what to do. Lately life has been chaotic, so it has been difficult getting my three a day meals in. That is why I ate the hamburger to boost my calories.

I just realized that wasn't a new low; I forgot about the oddball bounce down to 165.2. That was a big drop that was obviously dehydration or something because it was a drop of over 2 pounds in 2 days. So I have to wait for my next low bounce to claim a new low...

I weighed myself it has been two weeks I think. Well I lost 6 lbs (249.4). I still have a long way to go. I gained so much weight being on Zoloft last year. I tell myself I did not gain the weight over night and it will take time to come off

I have been pretty impressed with the guess at mileage on my FitBit knockoff. I used to run and I would map my routes. I walk one sometimes that I know is just barely under 3 miles and it will show as just under 3 miles on the watch. On another route, I know where it is one mile away and turn around there. It says one mile when I turn around and two when I get home. I have gotten in about 5600 steps so far today. Tonight's total won't be much more.

6 lbs in two weeks is very aggressive. I am the pot calling the kettle black because I started off at that rate (my first 32 came off in 65 days). Congats on the progress!

Well, allot has happened today. I managed to only fit in 1700 calories, and 2175 steps. My hike will have to wait a couple days. My weight in the morning was 178, so I expect different tomorrow. Just to be sure, I weighed myself just now and I weigh 179. I had eggs with chorizo, a yogurt smoothie, and a Mexican style flank steak with some pinto beans. I am going to have to do better at my food consumption during the day.

Pleasantly surprised that I was 165.8 this morning, down around a half pound from two days ago. It was a surprise because I felt bloated and things haven't been moving for the last couple of days. Since my goal is to stay at 164 or lower, it's about time for me to flip the script on how I look at my weight. On the way down, I always considered my lowest weight as my current weight because I know I am eating at a deficit and it will continue to go lower. Now I need to get my highest spikes at or below 164. 168 is the highest in the last week; last 3 weigh ins (today, 2 days ago and 4 days ago) I have been below 167.

Impressive. What do you do to get that many steps in? I only get many steps counted by walking to a restaurant two miles away. Of course I only order water or maybe some coffee.

I had a really really bad day. So I chose to eat at a restaurant. I have only 1297 steps. I still ate only 1900 calories today. I will weigh myself tomorrow. I suspect the calorie count is actually less since I used the quiche listed on MFP with the most calories. I do not want to gain or lose weight.

I take walks as breaks during the day. The street in front of my office gets sun most of the day and has a sidewalk that I can take for over a mile before I get to the next major road I would have to cross and turn around. Some days, I work from home and walk around my neighborhood on breaks. Starting next week, there will be plenty of daylight after work. On bad weather days, sometimes I get a few steps in at stores or sometimes they are really low and have to be averaged out by better days.

I am treating walking as exercise right now; making time for it and not really having time for other exercise.

My weight is about 178. I have had 2300 calories worth of food. No number of steps worth listing here. I have been really depressed, so this has been affecting my food consumption. I have not been planning my meals which is what I wanted to avoid doing. I have not been eating reliably. I will probably be better tomorrow. I think a good walk will help.

PS I have just purchased a genuine Fitbit. I will see if this makes any difference at all. I have just learned that how bracelets measure bpm is not that accurate of a method. There are more reliable methods. Still, this activity monitor gets good reviews, but mixed for its accuracy. Either it is pretty accurate or it’s significantly in error. Quality control? How it is being used? I can always return it to Amazon.

Well, I did not walk much today...AGAIN. I lack energy. I will make myself go as far as I can tomorrow. I have had 2200 calories, or at least I will have this. I still need to make a yogurt smoothie. I am having trouble getting the calories between 2000 and 2300 just using food. I guess I can purchase healthy snacks. Maybe this will help. I also am going to review my past daily menus, which I had posted here in the past, to see what I did to frequently hit over 2000 calories.

I am getting a genuine FitBit by 8 PM today. After ordering it, I found out that the way these wrist bands monitor heart rate will not produce accurate results, at least as accurate as I want it to be. The band slips, sweat gets in the way, it moves during exersize, and so forth. A much more accurate reading would be either using a chest monitor, or a band designed to rest up your arm. So I will be comparing the bpm from the FitBit band to that of an exersize machine. I then will see how much it is off. If this turns out to be like the imitation Chinese FitBits, I will send it back to Amazon, and still use my Chinese El Cheapo.

Update: The FitBit is actually working well. My phone determines bpm more accurately. My bracelet comes very close to matching the phone. Also the pedometer is close too. Every now and then the number of steps are a couple off. Nice! And the phone app is nice too. And it is compatible with the MFP app.

Yesterday. Steps were pitiful; around 500, but I am already at about 2500 today and about to take a second walk. 1600 calories; going to have to adjust that up soon.

I walked 12,474 steps. I weigh 182 pounds. I wonder how many calories that I burned up? After looking it up on the Internet, this comes to about 600 calories at 100 calories a mile. If I did my calculations right, my Fitbit appears to be off by about 5% which is very good. So this means my steps count can be off up to 625 steps. I do not remember what I had for breakfast. Probably the depression. I need to enter this information into MFP just after I have something to eat. I think one problem is that I sometimes skip a meal. Not good.

@UpDownAround You are approaching your diet intelligently and you are methodical about it. You are also helpful. I am happy to see you are getting closer to when all you need to do is maintain your weight. But then I find that this is not easy in my case.

PS I maintained about a 150 heart rate for significant parts of the walk. This is in the upper range for a cardio workout. My goal is to walk ten miles.
