@Discombobulated I'm so glad you can report that to the council AND that they actually take action on it promptly. Here, you report sidewalk issues to the city and yeah, pretty much nothing gets done. Walking on the sidewalk is a pain because you are off and on it because stupid people park their cars blocking the sidewalk all the time, so it's switching between the sidewalk and the road, watching out for traffic. Cars are not supposed to park blocking the sidewalk but the HOA who complains about every single little petty issue you may have going on just completely doesn't care about this at all. This area really is not friendly to walkers at all. I can't walk to any place of business other than a small drugstore (with sidewalks starting and stopping along the way), it's geared solely for cars (public transportation is non-existent and riding your bike anywhere you are just asking to be hit by a car.)

I had a hard walk today. It was a slog the entire way. Usually if I'm tired, it will ease up after the first 1-1.5 mi, but it didn't today. I should have come in at 2 mi but kept going the whole 7 mi. I had trouble breathing, and I'm not sure exactly if it was fatigue (my cat woke me at 3:45 AM by walking on me), dehydration (weight was a bit on the low side this morning and I woke up dying of thirst), pollution from the nearby chemical plants (there was a strong chemical odor in the air when I started my walk), allergies (though I don't have any symptoms so I doubt it), panic/anxiety, well after some time, I was having anxiety that it was so hard to breathe, and I don't have asthma or anything like that. Even after coming in, 2 hr later I still had issues. Finally I took my low dose Seroquel early (it's for anxiety), that didn't do much so I took Benadryl and finally my breathing eased up some (more I think as a result of benadryl making me tired than allergies).

My breathing has eased up now, but always a glutton for punishment,I decided to vacuum some (because the cat litter kicked out of the litter boxes was driving me crazy). I vacuumed more than I had planned and that got to me some too. I need to just chill out for the rest of the day though I do have to cook dinner later on; that is the downside of having a family and with H working, I have to cook. We used to pick up food when I didn't feel like cooking, but that has gotten so expensive, we tend to eat out on birthdays and our anniversary and that's it although once or twice a month I may get a breakfast wrap or lunch panini from Starbucks. Well, I know cooking at home is healthier anyway, but I don't enjoy planning & cooking meals much since both H and my daughter are picky eaters. My daughter I can't really fault; she has issues that probably could have gotten her an Asperger's diagnosis, but H didn't want her carrying around a label and she copes well enough. She likes healthy enough food just not a lot of foods mixed today other than a few soups.
I often have to find recipes where I can give her meat seasoned only with salt and pepper and veggies only cooked in olive oil (or eaten raw). H doesn't like casseroles or any meals cooked in a slow cooker and always wants meat with his meals. I probably have about a 3 week meal rotation because it is so hard to find meals they will eat. I'm not picky. As long as a meal doesn't call for beets I'm pretty good (barring weird foods I might never have heard of or tried before).

Blueberrybook, what you wrote about breathing issues is a little scary. Are you going to report them to your primary care physician?

I mostly use just olive oil for frying except sometimes I also use avocado oil. And mostly season with just salt and pepper. One of my favorite soups is split pea soup. Luckily, it is my son's favorite, too, so I often cook it for him when he flies in. When his girlfriend visited in 2023, she said she liked it too, but I am not sure whether she was sincere or just polite.

If your family eats cooked cabbage, I can post my recipe for cabbage and beef soup that can be cooked with just salt and pepper. It is very filling and you cook once for several days' worth of food

Yes, I see my PCP in May sometime; I'll let her know. But sometimes, H says he feels this way too and we think it's in large part from the chemicals. But I'll let the doctor know. Hopefully, tomorrow, I'll feel better breathing wise. It's a LOT better than it was this morning because I think I was also flat out starting to panic a bit which didn't help anything.

I'd be interested in your cabbage & beef soup recipe. My family does thankfully like cabbage.

Next time I make it, which will be soon, I will measure the quantities I use and post the recipe. Take good care of yourself and family now! It must be hard living next to those chemicals.

I do not think that your BMI is high enough to qualify, although coupled with high cholesterol, it might be

The problem is that many insurers still do not consider obesity a disease, so weight loss by itself might be insufficient to qualify.

Sleep apnea, by contrast, is a disease that has long been recognized, so when Zepbound received an additional indication for sleep apnea, it opened the previously closed doors for many people. Zepbound has the same ingredients as Mounjaro.

I have not gone to the gym today, but I am going for a walk wearing headphones right now. I will listen to a new audiobook.

@Blueberrybook that sounds much worse to cope with than here. We’re lucky in that we do have plentiful footpaths although many are in poor repair. Sadly many cars here ramp up in the pavements when they park and that’s partly was breaks them up. It was a good response from the council but I feel like I want to report more until they’ve replaced every last broken one

I’ve got so much on my mind right now I need the focus of exercise, I got a slow steady 8k in this morning, it was warm as we’ve had a sudden rise in temperatures and very sunny, it felt like summer and even at 7.30am there were lots of other walkers, runners and cyclists out along the coast - I love it when it’s like that, I feel alive if that makes sense.

I grazed on cesar salad and mashed potatos last night. But I didn't eat much. Breakfast was a smoothie and a Gatorade. The scale was all over the place. It jumped from 206 to 224 to 217. I think the 224 is the most accurate.

What a difference a day makes!

I wasn't imagining I worked harder walking yesterday as I woke up with sore arms and legs, and I'm never sore from walking these days. I didn't do anything different, it was just the effort to breathe. Today, breathing was so much easier. In fact, my entire walk was a lot easier than normal, and I walked 7.5 mi like it was nothing. Today every time I needed to take a deep breath walking (which was usually about every 1/4 mi), the deep breath was very restorative. I saw lots of birds today, finally the first robins of the year, a bit late for them especially considering how warm it has been since early March. Like you, @Discombobulated, there were a lot more people out than usual today, walking, biking, and walking dogs. I like when there is more activity like that; like you, I feel like it makes everything come alive, but things are not too busy or crowded so that I feel overwhelmed.

I am still waiting on my wrist to heal. I think I often undo the healing process some during the day using the hand to hold or put weight against it because I forget. In the morning, these past 2 mornings, my wrist has been pretty sore; then after my shower, it is less bothersome, which is why I tend to put more weight on it during the day and it just all adds up because I'll do it time & again.

@Tart Cherry Jam What audiobook are you listening to when you walk? Just curious!

I'm not really sure what I ate today. A protein shake and some popcorn I think. And 6 chicken rings. Not sure on the calories. Around 1100

Cyrano de Berjerac, an adapted and dramatized version with multiple actors taking turns speaking. And then two women have a dialogue about the author, his obsession with the character of Cyrano, and the parallels between the character and the author's own psyche. All quite fascinating! And because the play is adapted and abridged, the action is fast developing and the listener is always on a hook. I bought it on Audible on a deep sale, for just a few dollars.

Today:

- 48 minutes on the upright elliptical
- 12 mins on the treadmill, a flat walk
- 50 minutes of stretching. Stretching after cardio felt really pleasant.

@Tart Cherry Jam - That's a good length of time stretching! I really need to stretch more. It feels so good, especially afterwards. Seems I read once that stretching is good for longevity too.

I took my power walk this morning. It wasn't as easy as yesterday's but not nearly as hard as the other days. The chemical smell was pretty strong when I started, actually the first couple of miles my eyes would burn when I looked up from the sidewalk. Even allergies don't cause my eyes to burn that much, and I don't wear contact lenses. Finally, either I adapted to it or whatever it was that was bothering me lessened in the air and my eyes stopped bothering me so much.

I have booked 4 Orangetheory sessions for May. My discounted membership through the health insurance allows 4 sessions. Three times I will go to Orangetheory sessions, which mix treadmill, rower and strength workouts, and one time I will go to all treadmill session which will consist of various intervals.

I ate ice cream at 3AM which I counted for the entire day. After that it was just a cold coffee, some popcorn, berries, and a grilled cheese sandwhich. I'm around 1830 calories but 770 of that was around 3AM so I'm a bit crabby.

I love stretching. I also love body twisting exercises. Just do not have time to do them more often.

Today, another hour of cardio, to wit:

41 mins on the upright elliptical

10 mins on the stair master, for the first time after a long hiatus

9 mins on the rower

Followed with 15 mins in the sauna and then 5 mins in the steam room until blissfully relaxed. Oura tells me that I get more deep sleep on nights that follow evenings with sauna.

I ate breakfast around 6:30 which was a cucumber lime Gatorade and 4 wildberry Eggo pancakes. My weight is 219.4 and it was 226 a few weeks ago and everyone is saying that is really good progress and my pdoc is all like "that just proves you can do it yourself."

Ok I guess.

I've been totally off my prestiq for a week so I haven't been very hungry since.

I did 150 reps with my ab roller this morning. I'm about to do another 150.

The temperature dropped quite a bit this weekend, so it’s more like seasonal Spring temperatures than the summer ones we had last week. More comfortable for exercising, although there’s a stiff wind making it challenging, I got a gentle 6k in.

I’ve got 4 months to build up to half marathon, that’s just over 21k….

Awesome you're getting those runs in @Discombobulated! I'm sure you can build up to the half marathon in time!

@Tart Cherry Jam That sounds like a fantastic workout! I have never tried a sauna; it's always been something I'd like to try but I just haven't had one available to me.

I got in my 7 mi power walk this morning. The temperature dropped a slight bit here, but moreover the humidity was actually lower, so I didn't sweat nearly as much, and felt awesome! We won't have many more mornings like this, summer is about to swing in full force. I did some plank practice and a little bit of stretching then a long time with H I could hardly walk straight afterwards! @Tart Cherry Jam thankfully I don't have the feelings of shame after sex that I do with masturbation!

I did ended up doing 700 reps with my ab roller and now I'm having trouble opening basic things like straws. I've had around 1,123 calories so far. I think I'm on track.

I started going to various sauna as a kid and am really glad that now I can do that again, at the gym. I miss having a cold plunge (cold water pool) to do temperature contrasts after sauna. A cold shower is ok but does not match getting your whole body and head into cold water at once. For that, in our area, you would have to go to a Korean spa and I did in the past, but now that I spend so much on fitness (gym membership + a discounted Orangetheory membership through the health insurance + personal training, I cut out massage and Korean spa spending from the times before I started paying for gym membership and Orangetheory. With massages, I do not feel deprived, even though I loved getting Thai massages back in the day. With Korean spa experience, I miss it, but I hope to learn to enjoy cold showers after sauna at the gym.

I feel so fat right now. I do have inflammation in me from something so maybe I do legit feel weird.

I've had 370 calories for breakfast.
Man I hate food right now for physical issues. I'm nauseated.

But I still weighed the same 220. And my doctors are just like "gotta lose that weight bud". Yeah like I haven't been at this same exact weight for a year. Why dont you give me some answers for once about whats going on.

I was going to try for pilates this morning, but the weather was so nice I decided to walk. It had cooled down into the low 60s, and this is very likely one of the last (if not the last) times we'll have weather this nice until fall kicks in around October. As I put groceries away, I had the strongest craving to have an avocado to eat right then (they were on sale this week). So I had a large avocado for breakfast. Generally, I do not do weird food stuff like that or am able to put off cravings for a more reasonable period of time, but I don't know maybe I needed the fats after the time with H yesterday (which @Tart Cherry Jam, you're right, was really good). I did some planks and hope to try for a couple more this afternoon.
