I have taken three walks today, all with a purpose.

5 miles, 8k steps so far

I will walk more, now not with the purpose of getting to a certain destination but to calm restlessness, pass time until I can go to bed, and "run away" from the dystonia symptoms I began experiencing. Either this is due to the accumulation of Thorazine in my body, or to the fact that yesterday I mixed Thorazine with Seroquel (mind you, both in small doses), or both.

For now I will switch to Seroquel only for sleep until I have a chance to discuss the next steps with the psychiatrist on Saturday. I am thinking of trying just 10 mg of Thorazine for sleep and no Seroquel, as a maintenance sleep med. If it gives me somewhat elevated liver enzymes, which is reversible as I now know, I will live with that. I cannot live with dystonia and it makes it unsafe to drive, which is a major life disturbance.

Hit 12k steps.

I won't go walk outside anymore to ight because my feet are sore from all that walking.

Dystonia is gone. I am so happy and relieved it went away quickly.

I haven't been very hungry today. I made my navy bean salad. Its in the fridge. I also found this recipe for chickpea hummus wraps. All you do is just smash some of the chickpeas and spread some of the hummus onto whole wheat tortillas. Then you fill the rest of the tortilla with unsmashed chickpeas and add some red bell pepper. Literally no cooking involved.

I went for a pretty long power walk today; H has been so stressed, it's stressing me out. Yesterday, though at least I ate plenty of extra snacks to make up for the hard exercise, which I will do today as well. I'm baking banana bread to have for breakfast in the morning, which is way more calories than poptarts and a banana (since I usually eat 2 slices). I really do miss pilates, and it's only been a couple of days!

Yesterday, I'm so proud, I did so well with intuitive eating and listening to my body even when it still kept telling me I was hungry and one part of me would think, what, still I'm hungry? I'd wait 5 min to make sure it wasn't just wanting to eat out of boredom and then eat some more. I kept telling myself the hard exercise and need to maintain and not lose weight does mean yes, I do actually need a higher intake than most women my age.

I had such an excellent lunch today. After my usual breakfast of a huge coffee and belvita biscuits (coffee and a small pack of vendor machine cookies was my breakfast for my 30 working years, i cant stahp!!!), i exercised, then after a while made lunch: 3 packs of instant grits topped with some bbq beef and chicken. The cheddar cheese grits packet made it look like polenta, so it was definiitely comfort food. Dessert was assorted vita-gummies! 2-3 hrs later my blood sugar was in range.

This is significant because usually by the weekend, i am tired of eating "carefully" and will order pizza or chinese or something and wreck my digestion and my energy and everything else. But now i am heading into the weekend feeling pretty satisfied, and with my blood sugar in check, really for the first time in 30 years.

Man, im the one who finally saw the light.

@unaluna For all that I live in the South, I've never really cared for grits. It's not the taste I object to so much as the texture. Grits definitely are better than some foods; I'd take grits over other foods but they are not something I seek out--I don't like to eat anything overly greasy or overly fatty (though now and again I might have pizza or fries it's just something I'll do maybe 3 or 4 times a year), and there are other foods I just plain do not like, such as beets. I know beets are supposed to be good for you, but ugh! My mother grew those in the garden every year, and you better believe it, no matter if every other crop failed, the beets would make. Quite unfortunately, my mother loves beets. I wasn't that down with turnips either (which was the 2nd best producing crop), but they are much better than beets. Even as an adult, I've tried cooking them other ways, baked, in smoothies, and yeah, I just really don't like beets.

Blueberrybook - oh i never grease my grits! I only use oil when i happen to buy scallops (like for my birthday), and buy a small tub of butter when i have a super craving for it, again like once a year, and then have bread and butter for a week.

I dont know HOW the weight watchers app figures i get 50 gm of fat every day. It must be in my processed foods, because i never add any. Oh wait, one packet of mayo, and one packet of salad dressing per day, max.

I am slowly building up my exeercise tolerance. I used to do 10k walks 6x a week in my 30s. So your walks are a great motivator for me.

My salad was good. I made the wraps for tommorow. They were kinda falling apart because of the wheat tortillas. So I had to squish them to make them stay together then put a tooth pick in the middle and hope they will firm up in the fridge. Or else I'll have hummus bowls.

I didn't use the bell pepper so I just ate it like an apple after I was done in the kitchen, and it worked.

I have walked 9.4 miles today.

Partly so much due to being afraid to drive after yesterday's scare feeling dystonia in my limbs while driving. So I had an appointment today to get an In Body Scan where they measure body composition. I took a Lyft there and the train back. Walking to the train station from the clinic and, a shorter walk, from my train station to my apartment added a lot of steps. Then I did laundry, so walking to and from the laundry room and I side my apartment hanging dry and putting away folded clothes added more. So far I am having fun with it

I had a somewhat disappointing personal training session in that I was unusually dizzy and could not lift the weights I normally lift easily. The trainer thinks it is due to side effects from the new medication. I was discouraged at first, because I like that I eat less on Thorazine and want to stick to it. Then I recalled that in the second half of 2022 and first quarter of 2023 I was on Thorazine and was able to lift weights. I was with a different trainer then; she has since moved to Utah. So I think what I had today is either from taking more Thorazine than I should or mixing it with Seroquel or both. I will discuss with the pdoc tomorrow.

Since we could not fill the hour with strength exercises, I suggested stretching and the trainer found my crazily flexible, which was pleasant to hear.

I then came home, did the laundry and ate, the first full meal for today:

A smoothie with frozen blackberries, raspberries and overripe banana, milked almonds, plain kefir, plain Greek yogurt, and chia seeds, and vanilla extract. Yum! Saved a cup for later, too. I was unusually creative with this smoothie recipe thanks to the inspiration from this thread! Also ate a sandwich: ***** rye bread, Provolone cheese, gem lettuce 🥬 from Trader Joe's, and had a cup of weak black tea with a teaspoon of honey from Trader Joe's. Yum!

For breakfast I had 12oz of green machine juice, 2 pieces of sourdough bread, and one of my hummus wraps. That was several hours ago and I am still very full. It came out to about 855 calories. Maybe a bit less because I didn't divide the beans that equally among the 2 tortillas.

I'm not sure on the rest of the day but I have my navy bean salad and I also have some frozen smoothie bowls. I have salmon too. So a lot to choose from.

@unaluna I'm not talking about even greasing grits, just making them plain or from a pouch by adding water & then perhaps butter, sweetener, fruit, whatever. I still just don't like the texture. The taste is actually okay, but the texture...though it does have better texture than some things; my mom used to serve okra boiled. That is so slimy and gross, I'd choose grits above that!

@Tart Cherry Jam Way to go on the exercise! Just remember not to overdo it. I got myself into a lot of trouble that way.

I walked a long power walk this morning, burned a lot of calories but I had banana bread for breakfast and need a few snacks yet, but I'm doing okay maintaining weight-wise. My BMI is still considered healthy though on the low end, and when the ED thoughts are not raging, I realize I'm pretty thin, probably a lot of people might even say too thin, which is why I think the BMI system is a misguided method of determining a healthy weight. Still waiting on my wrist to heal, looking forward to putting pilates back into the exercise rotation.

I made lemon feta green beans for dinner. I heated up a bag of frozen green beans then put them in a mixing bowl and combined olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and feta cheese and then I mixed it all together.

I thought they were good. Better then my hummus wrap mess.

Still feeling nervous about running, but it’s more anticipation, I’m okay once I’m out there. It didn’t help that I got a well meaning but quite stern lecture from someone who was of the strong opinion I should not be running at all and take this recent accident as a warning and that it will happen again but will be worse this time. I just agreed with them as I’ve found in these scenarios it’s best to. However it did jitter me.

Yesterday was my birthday and I was pretty sensible with my food although I did enjoy a slice of a very nice coffee walnut cake which I made myself. I did get a lot of chocolate given which I’ve put in the cupboard out of my line of vision!

Anyhow started today off with a very gentle 5k, the store where I work is closed today for Easter and so I ran past a regular customer and said hello, he looked surprised to see me out of place. Have a good Easter weekend everyone.

I went for a power walk this morning, my normal 7.2 mi route, but it was a trudge. It was 77F outside but over 85% humidity, and it was just a hard walk. Did see a cute little egg hunt set up for some kids in front of one of the houses I walked by. Honestly, I should have taken the day off and/or not walked so far.

I am thinking my wrist may be well enough to give pilates a go tomorrow. We'll see. Or maybe I'll do pilates but skip weight bearing exercises on that hand.

@Discombobulated Happy belated birthday! I'm glad you enjoyed a birthday treat! It doesn't help to deny yourself the foods you like and crave all the time, giving in a little but not too much is what I definitely do. I am sorry about the lecture you got though. That sucks!

I managed a 7 mi power walk this morning...just. There was thunder and rain the last 0.5 mi had me jogging home, but at least it was not a sludge like yesterday's walk. I cannot wait until I can alternate walking and pilates each day again. I may have to try pilates tomorrow as I think there is a high prediction of rain, and it's pouring now, so at least I got my walk in today

@unaluna Thanks for telling me I'm an inspiration with my walking/exercise. There are times I wonder. But I know without exercise I am one crabby woman!

I love Johnny Cash! I like a lot of the old country songs. Plus my car has a air leak in the window/windshield sealing that makes so much air noise on the road, I can usually on hear musicians with deep (is it baritone?) voices playing in my car such as Johnny Cash (my mom played him a lot when I was growing up), Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave.

I did 10 minutes on my treadmill and 500 reps with my ab roller. I had a homemade yogurt parfait for breakfast and 3 pieces of mozzerella cheese and a piece of sourdough bread for a snack. I might have salmon and protein pasta for the rest of the day.
