I truly and deeply appreciate the support I’ve received on this forum. It’s meant so much. Oftentimes, I come here to post because it helps me get my thoughts together and make sense of things in my mind. I can then put it on a back burner and move along with my day. It’s been of great help. I’d like to continue to do that.

Yes, I’ve had a tough few years. We can almost all, if not all, say that. We’ll make it through. I feel most hopeful of brighter, happier days ahead. Yes, some rough waters but overall good.

Please support me, yes, if you feel you can. What stings is to be chided or lectured. I appreciate your consideration in not doing that.

Thank you.

We were supposed to have a labor day bbq with my sister and her family. We had planned it out last Sunday at lunch. My mom got all the food and made the potato salad for everything. My mom texted them this morning and asked if they were coming and my brother in law called and asked what was this about a BBQ and my mom told him and then he started venting to her about how they werent ready for the baby and how my sister hadn't done her chores since Feburary and how he is going to be out of town for the next 2 weekends. But that he'd try to make something happen. My mom was kinda upset and sad that he was venting to her like that and saying those things. Like my sister is due in about 3 weeks and I think shes still considered high risk. I love my brother in law dearly but sometimes he needs to majorly chill out. Anyways my sister and my nephews are on their way over now. After I've taken my meds and settled in for the day. So I'll probably say a quick hello and grab a protein drink and an apple sauce and stay in my room. I am not in the mood for BBQ food.

I don't know, of course, what happened on the religious forum. But I have a thought. Perhaps you lecture people a bit too much? Advising people about matters they are already well aware of may cause people to feel put down and that their life experience is being negated. I know, in my own life, that I have to be careful to ask rather than tell. When we tell people how to behave, or tell people obvious things they are already aware of it feels condescending. Being condescended to is a terrible feeling.

Applesauce sounds so good.

Your BIL's behavior is kinda odd. Maybe he's anxious about the baby coming soon?

I hope you have a peaceful day and not a crummy, stressful one.

He has bipolar himself and his dad is a bit abusive and his mom is a bit of a nutcase who is very conserative and refuses to get vaccinated and they think she is developing dementia. They don't want either around the kids much. So my bil doesn't have a good relationship with them so at that moment all he had was my mom to get out his feelings.

I've heard a new baby is one of the biggest stressors in life.

My day has been the same as normal but it has nothing to do with them.

Okay, I admit it: I missed my calling, I should have been a meteorologist. Indulge me while I vent about the heat.

108 today.
113 tomorrow.
114 on Wednesday.

Miserable temperatures - and sad, because I know it's due to climate change. Our wonderful governor (and a handsome man, too ), Gavin Newsom, has had legislation passed that will outlaw the sale of gas-run cars by 2035.

I'm going to take a shower, then I have to venture out to the grocery store. I cannot put it off any longer. I'm anxious because I'm afraid of feeling terrible from the heat. And somehow I have to find a way to get the large amount of recycling I have to the bin downstairs. Some of it I will drop over the banister (I call out before I throw the stuff over so I don't hit anyone below).

Well, here goes. Wish me luck.

<------- In my dreams.

We’re in a drought here as well and it’s been a very hot summer. Climate change is definitely at fault here, because last summer we had such crazy weather that I have never experienced before. There were 17 confirmed tornadoes in NJ and three of them passed right near our house. Like we got a warning from the weather station telling us that it was actually headed our way and we best get to safety. During one even my cat was like “nope” and was skulking low to the ground to find somewhere to hide in the basement. Thankfully they didn’t actually hit us but my grandma got stranded in her car in the garage. She got six inches of rain in two or so hours and her sump pump couldn’t keep up. Badass that she is when it stopped raining (10pm-ish) she went straight downstairs to uses two old pool pumps to pump out the water and set up fans to dry everything. She wasn’t gonna let water sit in her basement till the morning!!!

Anyway I agree that the weather is changing. Our governor also passed a similar law, but RS says he’ll drive his vehicles (two diesel trucks and a 1990 jeep Cherokee) until they specifically come and tow them away. Ah well, can’t convince everyone!

Haha, good for grandma!

I hear a lot about no-driver cars in addition to electric cars. I HATE climate change so I am trying to be sensible. That said, I love, love to drive and would sorely miss the day I cannot, for whatever reason, drive a good old car that runs on gasoline. I find my most peaceful moments tend to come when I'm driving. Well, what will be, will be.

Mandating electric cars would be harsh on those of us who can't afford them. What's more, they are just as bad or WORSE for the environment when you consider that the energy used to make the electricity pollutes just as much or MORE than driving a gasoline powered car in the first place.

I think I might go to bed early tonight seeing as I was up 4 hours before I'd normally get up this morning. I just woke up and didn't feel tired. N3's cat is a real sweetheart. She comes and sits on my lap for long stretches of time. It's actually cool out today- 67 or something wonderful. I've had the window and the balcony door open all day with a fan blowing in the cool air. So nice to not have to use the ac. I slept on the couch last night but tonight I want to leave the window in the bedroom open. I'll close the balcony door when I go to sleep. I just checked- it's 68 degrees right now. I bet it gets to the lower 60s overnight.

Ohhh 😲 the weather is glorious. 73 for a high ( sorry Beth) a bit of a breeze and steady sun in a robins egg blue sky. Had the sliders open to enjoy the day. I took the day off and didn’t bother getting dressed. Made chili and cheese buns for a brunch/supper now tonight is PBS, mostly reruns. Durrell’s in Corfu, a documentary on Anne Boleyn and New is Guilt. Altogether a nice relaxing day.

Beth I hope your trip to town wasn’t too hot 🥵

Cheesy buns for all! 🥐

I felt very bad about myself because of my weight, even though I know a lot of it is water weight. I don’t know why I’m retaining so much water right now. Well, it could be PMS I suppose. Well whatever it is it made me feel terrible.

I went to work (second job) and got very dizzy, like almost seeing double. I have that reaction when I take too much lamictal at one time. I can only take 100mg in the morning, if I take 200mg this is what happens. So I have to wonder if I dropped an extra pill in Saturday’s space. I didn’t take the 200mg I usually take at night just to be sure. I felt fine by like 7pm so I know it was definitely that. I did have RS come and pick me up at 5:30 from work just so I could be safe getting home, I didn’t want to take the chance driving.

Today though was a great day. I felt better and we decided to go to cape may in NJ. Very far ride for us but there is a lot to do there. We went on a nature walk, which spits you out on the beach and you have to walk along the beach for the last half a mile or so to get back to the parking lot. I dressed inappropriately for the weather, I wasn’t sure if there would be a cool see breeze so I wore pants and forgot about the blazing sun on the beach part so I wore a black shirt as well. AND didn’t bring water AND didn’t put sunscreen on. Totally unprepared which is unusual for me knowing how I get overheated easily due to haldol. At least RS had a little water. But we made it and he got me and CR Italian ices at the end. My stomach was upset though and I’m sure it was from getting overheated. It’s upset a bit now as well so I’m laying in our cool bedroom with Gatorade close by. Found these new Gatorade Fit waters that actually don’t have added sugar and are sweetened with stevia and fruit essence. All sounds good I guess and they’re quite tasty, not too sweet and not too “diet” tasting.

We also played mini golf and RS almost got a hole in one but it sat right one the edge! And CR really did get a hole in one, he was very excited! Me, well, let’s just say I’m not entering any tournaments any time soon

Somehow I don’t have to work tomorrow so we’re going to have a small cookout with RS’s parents and possibly my mom, although she did say she’ll “see how she feels” which normally means she’s too polite to say no outright. That’s fine though, I never really expect her to come, just want her to know we’re thinking of her. Im looking forward to the extra garlic kielbasa we got from the polish meat market. It’s delicious!

The stress over my eye and then having no car has really knocked me sideways.

We did make a trip 1.5 hours to the closest branch of the bank we use. The beater truck did fine and the cruise control even works. I so wish the AC worked but it’s a 2002 with 254.000 miles so can’t expect much.

Hope everyone is enjoying the holiday weekend.

Moose, most of what you wrote is incorrect and I'm guessing is based on political misinformation that quickly spreads. This is what oil industry political "friends" and the oil industry itself want. See Electric Vehicle Myths | US EPA

There are some electric cars (i.e. a Tesla) that are much more expensive than gas fueled cars, but not all are. Tesla is like the "Porche of electric cars", in a sense. Some hybrid versions of cars are only a bit more expensive than their solely gas fueled equivalents (i.e. Subaru Crosstrek regular vs. Subaru Crosstrek hybrid), but only a couple thousand dollars or so. That difference is easily recouped from reduced gas expenditures. Also, in some places, there are even government rebates on buying electric or hybrid that even out the costs. These exist when the government is controlled by politicians that make it a priority to fight global warming and polution and encourage their residents to do so. Note, too, that there are some gas fueled cars that are more expensive than electric or hybrid. And for truck and SUV lovers, there are hybrid and gas options and there will be more.

I own a hybrid car and it saves my husband and me lots of money on gas. It is also clean running with zero oil or gas to burn. It charges quickly requiring little extra electric than any major appliance. In the future, the batteries will get even better and smaller, just as other electric things do. Gas fueled cars will become a thing of the past in most of our lifetimes. EVs will go further and further on charges, there will be easier charging, and they'll be cheaper in relation to affordability. Such advantages will eventually fight the powers that try to stop it. Innovation and progress always eventually do.

You might be correct in pointing out that the cost of electric cars will come down in the future, but for anyone needing a car in the near future, I don't feel that's correct. Let's say someone on disability needs a car; there's no way one could purchase an electric car today for less than $30,000 (about twice what one gets in disability during a 2-3 year period). I think what Moose was referring to was the initial outlay. Circumstances kind of dictate one's situation in the current market. For instance, I bought a new 5-speed sedan for $18,000 in 2014. They no longer make sedans, and the price of new cars has gone through the roof. There's no way I could buy a replacement car (electric, or otherwise) for what I paid in 2014. TImes change, and I don't see the situation of the economically challenged changing any time soon.

@buddha1too, I realize the cheapest cars out there aren't hybrids or EVs, yet. But some hybrids and EVs can be better deals compared to their non hybrid/EV equivalents in the long-term. Yes, having the money upfront is not possible for many people. I primarily challenged the myth that electric cars pollute as much or more than gas only cars.

@Soupe du jour...I'm sorry if my last post came of as self-righteous; that wasn't my intent. Living in MIchigan, mass transit isn't a priority(we're a car producing center), and so many people have to do without. The city I live in doesn't have mass transit like many cities elsewhere. I guess I'm just really conscious about how this situation stresses the poor.

My mom wasn't able to attend Sunday services (or go visit family) because of a GI issue, one that's been plaguing her for several days and might require medical attention if it doesn't abate soon. She's working the OTC angle without luck, so I suggested a couple of remedies I knew of and brought her and my dad the medicine with the caution to not overdo it and go to the hospital if it doesn't resolve by tomorrow afternoon. The family stubbornness, especially about the unnecessary things, extends to medicine. I might have to give them a call with a friendly reminder to well... consult with medical professionals!

I told my mother of my musical plans for the two of us and I guess my father was listening, because well... the obvious happened. "You need to get new tires! Have you even thought about that?" "Yes. Yes I have. Now about Hadestown..." I could hear him grumbling in the background. Whatever.

Later that day, I has a chance to chat with a friend who is endearingly and relentlessly positive. Her optimism never feels forced and it really does lift you up! Her latest life suggestion for me: become a travel writer. I would absolutely have a lot of fun doing it! I'd just need somebody to help get the whole enterprise off the ground

Finish the night with a movie (3000 Years of Longing) and you have my Sunday!

Well...no, Moose. Besides, I'm figuring the think-tanks will come up with something before 2035 rolls around. A lot of people around here are already driving electric (or hybrid) cars. There are hook-ups at the library down the street from me and there are always the electric car owners standing around the parking lot chatting, waiting for their cars to charge.

I own a hybrid car and it saves my husband and I lots of money on gas. It is also clean running with zero oil or gas to burn. It charges quickly requiring little extra electric than any major appliance. In the future, the batteries will get even better and smaller, just as other electric things do. Gas fueled cars will become a thing of the past in most of our lifetimes. They'll go further and further on charges, there will be easier charging, and they'll be cheaper in relation to affordability. Such advantages will eventually fight the powers that try to stop it. Innovation and progress always eventually does.

Yes, Soupe, you are correct as far as my own knowledge of the situation goes. And I truly do trust Governor Newsom to do what he knows is best for the environment. This state is in serious, no-joking trouble due to climate change. Action must be taken ASAP.

I woke up just a little while ago. Everything was too loud so I went to sleep. I don't know what's wrong with me. Even my headphones were too loud. Now I have my headphones on and I'm calmer. Eating has been a challenge lately. I don't see T till the middle of the month. I have to decide whether I'm going to give her my day in the life of. I get my injection Tuesday after I take our dog to the vet.

My husband is more optimistic then I am. She's still in a lot of pain. I had to climb under the bed to give her her medication this afternoon. She's not eating as much or asking to go out really. We're trying to get samples from her to test for diabieties and other things. I'm worried the winter months are going to be to much for her because she's already stiff. She definatly can't go up and down stairs. I kinda think the other vet as nice as he was didn't want to tell us but I'm a little paraniod as is. My head's not being nice. Saying it's my fault....that I'm screwed up for getting Artemis (other dog)... and a whole bunch of ****ed up things. I feel like crying but it's not coming out.

Ohhh, it's killing me to hear about those upper-60's days. Lawdy, Lawdy. It's just not fair.

There is the most glorious moon tonight! It's golden on top and a blue-gold on the bottom. The kind of moon that appears only on a hot, hot night. Word is we will be getting smoke down here tomorrow from the wildfire north of here. The smoke is certainly not healthy, but sometimes it cuts the intensity of the heat a bit.

I made it to the grocery store, more or less. I was feeling pretty weird-headed for a couple of hours after I got home, but I finally really cooled down. Then I felt okay. David came over and helped take out all the recycling. I was grateful. But his ribs are fractured from the bike accident a couple of weeks ago, so he needs to be careful. But the heat doesn't bother him.

The store hardly looked like a "day before Labor Day" crowd. Hardly anybody in there. Probably not many barbecues planned for tomorrow, or any outside activity. (Hmmm...is that the steak being barbecued, or is it me being barbecued...lemme check...)

Time to do pre-bedtime chores. I should leave the a/c on overnight, but the cats and I need some night air.

Love all around
